At about the 14:42 mark, Payton talks about the wide receiver position. Interestingly, the first guy out of his mouth is David Patten, who he says "will be over at the split end side." He then notes that "Marques will be over at the Z side," and that "we'll probably move Marques over to the flanker," and that "Copper and Meachem" will also be there (at the flanker). He concludes by noting that "Devery and Patten" will be at the weak side, and that this hasn't entirely been sorted out yet. Ultimately, of course, he's looking "for the best two or three guys."
Still, it is interesting to note that he started his answer with a reference to David Patten being "at the split end side." Obviously, it is very early, but keep an eye on Patten. He could wind up having a role on this team.
