Trying to set up a slower team game for people who can't sit down and play a fast one. Have 7 people, need one more. If Larryboy, Tecumseh or Sup Yo will pm their email to me I'll add them and start it up.
I don't want to get into a super long one because I'll be gone on vacation starting Saturday. I'll be up for a fast one later tonight, tho.
Count me in tonight too plz- I'll pm my email
Future Champs, you are also invited to the longer team game.

muwahahahahaha

So in the games where there are allies, if you occupy half of a region and your ally occupies the other half, do either of you get the bonus armies each turn?

no
Is there any way to get out of a territory so your partner can have it?
The only way I've found is to attack your ally and take it over yourself.
Yeah. Tell them in advance, and move any extra armies out early in the turn so they don't have to fight hard to get it back.

Anybody making another game for tonight? I finally beat Challenge 1 earlier today, I'd like to try some multiplayer.
Same here. This was a great find.
Try Challenge 2. It will make you want to throw your computer through the window.
I've tried a couple different strategies so far, and I'm doing OK, but haven't won yet. Any strategies people have tried that have worked?
There are only like 6-8 people that have been able to beat it at all so far. Tried tonight, got up to 86 armies per turn, they still stomped me. Just can't handle the 150 strength armies that come in the mid to late game. Obviously need to go to their continent and disrupt them, but it's damned hard to pull off.Only thing I've really seen strategy wise is someone suggesting your first abandon go in Svalsbard S. (It's south of your Africa)

I don't know anyone who has beat #2. I've watched the histories on a couple of games where I thought I was doing pretty good around turn 10-11, and in every one of them it's obvious I was going to get crushed. Honestly, unless I hear that someone else has beat it, I'm done trying. Try multiplayer with us instead.

A few people have beat it. There's a list of them in the Challenge 2 thread in the forum. The game designer made the list, so it's legit. After giving up on it myself, I had my best game ever of it. Got up to 86 armies, beat the AI in Canada, Norway and Australia, and then attacked into his continents. But then some of the other teams showed up with 160 strength armies in Far West Russia and South Africa and I was done.

I will play some multiplayer games at some point now that I have this thread sehorned.

For challenge two I think there are a couple options. I agree with putting your abandon south of africa, but I kind of think the spot in canada just south of south africa would work too. It has the same benefiit of being a single entry point but it also blocks the seven point canada province which is slightly better. Only problem is south america has way too many countries for four points.

I think a kamikaze mission to the netherlands might be best, locking up africa as you go, but it seems like the computer just gets there faster than you no matter what.

Your Netherlands or their Netherlands? You can beat them to yours, usually meet them in Norway. I kicked them out last time I tried it.

Wow I can't come close to beating Level 3! :bag: :thumbup:How??
The time I beat it (and the time I came close) I started in lower Africa, swept under through Antarctica while simultaneously taking Northern Africa, and popped up through South America to take the Americas while holding ground in Africa and the Antarctic. It's not easy, that's for sure. I didn't sweep through Asia at all, just pushed into Europe and Australia after merging forces, and keeping large defense armies guarding my entry points. Good luck!

Pretty much have to get lucky and have the AI teams fighting each other with neither one getting the upper hand. Anything less than that, and you're screwed. You're in between 2 different teams? Start over. One of the AI teams is eliminated and the other one isn't? Start over. Africa is a good place to start, although I think the time I beat it in the least time I was in Eastern Russia to start. All depends on the AI teams, though. The first time I beat it took 58 turns, and I had to retreat and hide in Antarctica til the AI teams wore each other down.Next time only took 28 turns, stayed in Asia til a couple of AI teams were eliminated then went after the rest.

Thanks for the tips, guys. Question for ya's. Do you keep attacking or take a continent and buildup armies for awhile? Seems like im doing good advancing then all off a sudden an AI army of 90 comes out of nowhere and wipes me clean. It's pissing me off! :goodposting:

I'm always advancing on at least one front, often two. I got killed the first couple times I played level 3 too. The same thing kept happening, giant AI armies started banging down my door every turn. The fog and smaller regions make the game different than other risk games I've played. Usually I work in a very tight grouping, extending out to gain territory or to screw with another player that was growing too powerful, but that doesn't work here. Eventually I decided to send out mid-sized armies to roam around asia, keeping tabs and screwing with any army capturing the 5 & 6 point territories there. Eventually they'll bump up against a giant army, but if you move them first each turn, split in half occasionally and get a little lucky, these marauders can last a while.

Oops. What I posted before actually refers to Challenge 1, not Level 3. Level 3 isn't that hard. I wrote some tips on how the AI behaves earlier in the thread. Like they will attack a neutral territory even when they're right next to you, use that to your advantage. Keep attacking to get cards, and always try to take and hold bonus areas. When you meet an AI, beef up your armies next to him, he will probably do the same and attack. Try to make spaces next to him about 60% of what he has in the space. For instance, if he has 5 armies next to 2 of your spaces, put 3 armies in each of your spaces. He'll try and attack both probably, and hopefully lose. When you get more advanced, put 4 in one of the space and 7 in the other. Make all your other moves first before you come back to this situation. Hopefully, he will have tried to attack and lost, now attack him with the 7 armies, and then the 4 after that. Sounds complicated, but it's really not once you get the hang of it.
