A flex position is a lineup slot that can be filled by players representing at least two different positions. It's easiest to explain by using an example.

One league may have the following lineup requirement:

QB

RB

RB

WR

WR

TE

PK

Def

Another league might have a flex position in place of one RB slot:

QB

RB

Flex

WR

WR

TE

PK

Def

Depending on league rules, the Flex could be filled by RB/WR, or RB/WR/TE, or whatever the league allows.

Some leagues may have two flexes like this:

QB

RB

Flex

Flex

WR

WR

TE

PK

Def

Kudos to The Jerk for not being one. Nice to see a newbie get a little help without a back-handed insult. What he said is all you need to know.

The "flex" position is popular in larger leagues where there is a limited number of startable players on waivers. So, instead of being required to start 2 RBs, you'd be allowed to start 1 RB plus a flex player (usually a WR).

I play in a 10-team league that allows you to start a QB in the flex spot. It may seem weird to start 2 QBs, but it really changes the dynamic of fantasy football and makes the QB position as valuable as the RB position.

Thanks for helping me understand what a flex is. The league I'm in has 4 total spots to be started with a combo of RB's and WR's. At least 1 running back and at least 1 wide receiver must start. Some weeks I go with 2RBs and 2WRs. But last week I chose to go with 1RB and 3WRs. I lost pretty bad! So for this week I think I will use 3RBs and 1 WR. Does that mean this league has 2 flex positions? I hope I didn't confuse anyone.

Yes, you have 2 flex spots. RBs will usually score more points than WRs, so you should aim to start top-35 RBs at the flex whenever possible.

RBs don't necessarily score more points than WRs, but they are more consistent with their nominal point level. Primary RBs, or RB1's can see the ball anywhere from around 18-30 touches per game. Backup RBs, or RB2's, see the ball around 10-15 times per game. It is very unusual for a WR1 to have possession of the ball 10-15 times per game, (18-30 is unheard of) so naturally the RBs will have what is called a higher "floor", therefore giving you a chance at a higher baseline for points. This is why many leagues are now "PPR" or "Point Per Reception". It makes WRs more equal to RBs by rewarding them for making the catch.

Can someone answer me this....WTF is a redraft league?
A Dynasty or Keeper league keep some or all players from one year to the next.A REDRAFT league keeps nobody and starts fresh every year, AKA, they Re-Draft the teams every year.
