Next WR to blow up? (1 Viewer)

Which WR who hasn't done much will become the next big thing. My two nominations:

Dez Bryant- Loads of talent, loads of targets, apparently a bunch of near misses for TDs, had the bye week to get healthy

Kenny Britt- headcase but seems to be working harder, fisher saying all the right things, 2 tds the last two weeks, gage hurt

How about Tate?
This scenario has been all but thrown out by pundits here.It will be interesting to see reactions if Brady connects for even 1 long ball to Tate in his first game in the X.
Im guessing the Patriots will work the scenario to get Tate open for a deep ball or two or three.A lot of setup and misdirection to try and spring him loose at some point in the next game. More so then they normally would -- even if hurts something else for one game.

Interesting that no one around here thinks that Tate has the potential to blow up. NE still has a poor defense and Brady is going to have to put points on the board to win games. You would think that the Patriots are going to have to keep using the threat of the long ball (from Tate now) to keep the TE and Welker routes open.

McCluster
I can't decide if the Colts small but speedy defense is a good play for McCluster or a bad play. They did lose their safety Bullitt who was backing up Sanders and it should be a high scoring game but....Idk, the chiefs defense is pretty good and the Chiefs will definitely try to run all day so not sure it will be a shoot out.

Did Demaryius Thomas all ready blow up? Or does that 1 game not count. Honestly believe he will be better than any of this years rookie WR, even Bryant, and possibly better than any to come out in the past couple of years.

Also going to add Aurrelius Benn. He is taking over the Flanker position opposite MW in Tampa, and I think he's got some serious talent as well. Not the best offense though.

David Nelson, as a minor blow up, but in Buffalo, cant really explode too much.

And by the end of the year, I think DHB will be a nice option.

Wallace when Ben is back, top 10 from week 6 on.
A lot of facepalms from the sharkpool when this guy blows up. "I knew it" and "It was so obvious" Tough to get him right now and I might take a loss this week but he certainly looks like my wr 2 from here on out.

:goodposting: This.Another guy worth mentioning is Mike Williams TB. Seems like he fell off the planet with that week 4 bye.
That plus the popular refrain is that the Tampa offense plain sucks... I know they're hardly world-beaters, but Freeman has been doing a few nice things. I think they have a chance to be a decent offense w/in a couple years if they can get a RB...

Hmmm.I know it was mentioned that he took some 1st team reps during the bye weeks, but coach Morris just said 2 days ago that he isnt the starter.

Do you have some other news links?

Coach Raheem Morris said that second-round WR Arrelious Benn isn't moving into the starting flanker position just yet.

Benn will be a bigger part of the rotation when the Bucs come out of their bye, but Sammie Stroughter will remain the starter. Benn's chance will come sooner rather than later though, as Stroughter is best suited for the slot. For now, Benn is just a super-deep flier. Oct. 4 - 12:14 pm et

Had not heard Morris said that, only going on what I heard from earlier in the week. So I guess it is not "official" yet. I think all the more reason to buy now. However, as this blip insinuates, and many others, his chance probably will come soon, if not next week.

would love to see Tate be the man, but the Pats dealt Moss within 24hrs of the Monday night game. the Pats have a BYE this week, so between now and when they play again (BAL on 10/17), I don't think the Pats will rest with Tate as their #1.

McCluster
This is a good one. He has two TDs in his first 3 games in the league and a lot of people still dont know who he is.
I really dig McCluster and his diminutive size does not concern me all that much. I would love to dump a MSW type of player for him but haven't been able to pull the trigger just yet. He's a guy that if slept on too long though, you can forget getting him on the cheap (FA, WW, etc.) I fear.Call it a rock and a hard place. My gut says he blows it up though.

only guy i could imagine really blwoing up at this point is D thomas
Do you mean Demaryius or Devin? I'm guessing Demar, but Devin still has a tiny bit of upside if he gets traded. Pretty much a bust though, but I still like him enough to give him a chance every year. He's still young. Demaryius though, is going to be a supernova. Or at least he can be if things go right.

There's speculation that BUF may have Lee Evans on the block and that the Pats would make sense as a landing spot.

Agree on Mike Wallace bigtime.

I know this thread is not for the old guys, but you just know somewhere Hines Ward has that #### eating grin on his face with Big Ben coming back.

I'm going to second the Kenny Britt and not thinking Tenn is a lock for running game. I wish I had grabbed him a few days earlier.

So do you have any video that actually supports the notion Johnson should be on our radars? (Yes, I know what he's done the last two weeks and yes these were decent video offerings albeit useless in displaying why Johnson could blow up).Buffalo just blows. Is this guy so transcendant he can overcome being on the Bills is my question I guess?

Dood!! This morning I dropped MSW for him! Sims-Walker is a proven headache and he'll burn you when you can least afford it. He belongs on the waiver wire. Let him be someone else's headache if they so choose. Check out Kansas City's schedule. You know their D will start to give up big points as the season progresses and they are going to be looking to McCluster for big plays every week.

That's good to hear man. I hate MSW and get closer and closer each day. He's terrible. Good luck, maybe I'll join you in the "All-In" McCluster fan club soon enough. :lmao:

I cut McCluster for D Thomas.. I don't feel McCluster has the high ceiling I want when I'm rolling the dice. I feel Thomas could have an epic 2nd half.

. Kid has a great attitude too.ETAII: Here you can see better quality footage of Johnson beating up on Florida State in the '07 Music City Bowl - this was a fun game and one that made me think he could be NFL bound.

There are a lot of options on Denver dude, and quite a few of whom are playing pretty well. Orton's playing the role of Brady in a McD offense, spreading the ball to the open man, not any one particular player. I think Thomas has big time upside, and I will not rule out an "epic second half" but I wouldn't bank on it.That said I would drop McCluster for Thomas on body type alone, let alone the fact DT is supposedly very brilliant to boot. I can't remember the number but I think he crushed the Wonderlic. Definitely a talent to watch.

ETA: Thomas scored a 34. Second highest scoring WR (Eric Decker, DEN - 43!)...To put this in perspective, QBs Sam Bradford scored a 36; Max Hall (BYU) a 38 and Tim Hiller (West. Mich.) a 37.

Santonio Holmes

Excellent hands, the ability to run underneath routes and deep routes, and he's easily the most talented WR on the roster. I see a lot of play action success in Mark Sanchez's future.
