Next WR to blow up? (1 Viewer)

Nice work - this is much better. What I see is great hands and good YAC ability. Not real shifty and seems to lack a second gear. Definitely looks like he is a ball hawk though, and a big enough body to do exactly what he's been doing the last few weeks: bring the ball down in the end zone.I don't know about a blow up, but I could see Johnson on a lot of rosters as a reserve if he and Fitz can maintain the rapport. Granted these are highlights, he looks like a guy who can be counted on to at least catch the ball. Call him the anti-Kenny Britt if you will.

It does also seem like he's fairly bright and a solid leader.

I cut McCluster for D Thomas.. I don't feel McCluster has the high ceiling I want when I'm rolling the dice. I feel Thomas could have an epic 2nd half.
There are a lot of options on Denver dude, and quite a few of whom are playing pretty well. Orton's playing the role of Brady in a McD offense, spreading the ball to the open man, not any one particular player. I think Thomas has big time upside, and I will not rule out an "epic second half" but I wouldn't bank on it.That said I would drop McCluster for Thomas on body type alone, let alone the fact DT is supposedly very brilliant to boot. I can't remember the number but I think he crushed the Wonderlic. Definitely a talent to watch.

ETA: Thomas scored a 34. Second highest scoring WR (Eric Decker, DEN - 43!)...To put this in perspective, QBs Sam Bradford scored a 36; Max Hall (BYU) a 38 and Tim Hiller (West. Mich.) a 37.
Wasn't McDaniels the OC for the Pats the year that Moss went all buck nutty and set the NFL record for TD's and such? Pretty sure his system has featured him quite often. His offense is not a specific formula all the time. It's about playing matchups to get the most out of mismatches in the defense. There are players in the NFL that are pretty much always (read: not going against Revis) a mismatch for opposing defenses such. as Moss. If Thomas is that type of player, the system will certainly allow for great success. He just has to prove it. Doesn't hurt that McDaniels butt is tied to Thomas and Tebow's success. Clearly Tebow has little chance to save him right now, so....

I added the additional video to the second edit (oops). He lacks top end speed but manages to get separation by getting into and out of breaks quickly. He also sells his routes extremely well. What struck me about him in college was that he possesses some RB like anticipation and vision in the open field and this helps offset his slower 40 times and contribute to his solid YAC (see 14:13 of the Music City Bowl video for the second TD). He also has a solid trunk and some thick thighs, like a RB. I believe he played both RB and QB in High School, so he has a good football IQ as well.

I haven't seen anyone make mention of Julian Edelman since Moss got traded. Knows the offense, should be healthy coming off the bye. May not blow up but I think he is a guy that will be a solid contributor in a ppr.

I respectfully disagree. At that point in his career Randy Moss was a savvy 10 year veteran WR playing on one of the most prolific offenses of all time and with a massive chip on his shoulder (a recurring theme in his career and one that's about to repeat itself) after being declared "washed up" after two lost years in Oakland.I'll also note that Tom Brady threw 50 TDs (Randy had 23 in going all 'buck nutty') for the Pats. Someone had to catch a significant portion of those TDs and why not the WR1 of that team? After that, that QB threw an astonishing 27 MORE TDs that season - yes, in a Josh McD offense to confirm.

Demaryius Thomas is going to be a very good player health willing. He has a lot going for him now and in his future in the NFL. I am open to the concept of him having a strong second half but I refuse the notion that he's going to go all 'buck nutty' in 2010 as a rookie vs what Moss did as a 10 year vet playing in a dream season, both for himself and his QB.

Kyle Orton is having a great season, especially yardage wise, but it's not going to be a Bradyesque 2007 vintage year complete with pinball scoring of TDs and DT is not being counted on as a rookie who missed significant camp with a foot injury the way Randy Moss was that year and the Broncos are going to spread the ball to their 4 very capable WRs whether you agree or not.

Finally, Josh McDaniels' future in Denver is not tied to Thomas succeeding in 2010. Is his seat hotter for having let Marshall get away and needing to draft a replacement? Probably, but most people myself included think he got the right guy - and a smarter guy at that by a landslide. No one can possibly expect Thomas to deliver on the potential in Year One or they're not being very reasonable. As for his future being tied to Tebow? A whole other story IMO, and not one I care about.

Thomas is good now, will be great later. He may have some great games this season but he ain't going all buck nutty as the 'designated Randy Moss' in a Josh McDaniels 2010 offense.

Good stuff man. I agree for the most part and know more today than I did going in, so nice work again.

How about Tate?
This scenario has been all but thrown out by pundits here.It will be interesting to see reactions if Brady connects for even 1 long ball to Tate in his first game in the X.
Interesting that no one around here thinks that Tate has the potential to blow up. NE still has a poor defense and Brady is going to have to put points on the board to win games. You would think that the Patriots are going to have to keep using the threat of the long ball (from Tate now) to keep the TE and Welker routes open.
would love to see Tate be the man, but the Pats dealt Moss within 24hrs of the Monday night game. the Pats have a BYE this week, so between now and when they play again (BAL on 10/17), I don't think the Pats will rest with Tate as their #1.
Seems the bye is the ideal time to make adjustments to their offense.

only guy i could imagine really blwoing up at this point is D thomas
Barrying injury to one of their other receivers I just dont see it... He is simply not on the field enough to consistently produce and there is no reason to lighten the other receivers loads, they are producing and looking very good doing it.

Wallace when Ben is back, top 10 from week 6 on.
I've been stashing Wallace for ben's return...in PPR I'd be a little leary to start him, it seems like he runs 1 route, fly pattern. It doesnt seem like hes the guy who'll get 10 catches 150 yds. Opinions?

Wallace has a lot of value in my 14 team league.

The Romo owner traded Reggie Bush, Andre Johnson, & McNabb to the Roethlisberger owner for Brady & Wallace

Dez Bryant = Manchild.

This kid is an uber stud who will (health permitting) dominate the league for the next 10 years.

Deon Butler if Branch is traded to New England
Your on to something.I like Butler a bunch and have him stashed on quite a few dynasty teams. I think he has a ton of upside and can be a great #2 WR in this league as well as a deep threat. A guy who can become a Donald Driver type is what I envision.
