You can make the argument for LJ, but anything serious has to assume Roaf, Shields, Vermiel and Saunders all return. Right now, my bet is at least 2 won't.

Right now I would have to vote for LT. Certainly SA, James and LJ are in the mix, but in the case of Johnson, we would have to know Holmes status. In Alexander's case, while I think it likely after this year that Seattle gets his contract done, they have been week on this before and if SA is not behind that line you certainly want to know the team and system he is with before you draft him over the safer, known stud - LT

Depends on who replaces whoever leaves.

I guess Edge should be in the poll, but I doubt he'll be the in the top 3 consensus as it stands now...definitely a dropoff after those 4...maybe 5 with Tiki.

Maybe, but there aren't many people that can replace Shields or Roaf.Vermiel may be no loss at all, or Saunders for that matter.

Much like he was this year and the year before, SA will be the top RB in FF if he stays in Sea. I can't see him not getting a new deal there, therefor he gets my vote.

FYI...if everything remains as is now (i.e. everybody returns, same coaches/OL/OC etc.)1. LJ2. SA3. LT4. Edge5. Tiki

True, it is doubtful that they find the equivalent to either one of those guys if they lose them.

Handcuffs for the big three are very different:What sucks about LJ is that Priest will be overpriced.(assuming Priest is the backup)Eric the Burner Turner is a great handcuff at a very low price. Morris is cheap, but his value is questionable.

Man!!!! Alexander gets no love here. He has been the best fantasy back for two years in a row now and I'm predicting a third! (He would be even better this year if the Seahawks weren't so far ahead of everyone in the NFC)

:goodposting: He's the Eddie Kennison of RBs

This is down right shocking but true. How does the #1 RB not get the love he deserves?

Because he runs in a smooth manner that doesn't lend itself to the hilight reel.

My thoughts exactly - look at what happened to GB this year after losing a couple of Pro Bowl linemen.

Anyone who thinks Roaf or Shields are replaceable is kidding themself... Roaf especially.

I don't know about that...in the 3 games that LJ started that Roaf was out weren't too bad...Oakland: 107 yards rushing, 48 recieving, 2 TD's

Buffalo: 132 yards rushing, 46 recieving, 0 TD"s

Houston:211 yards rushing, 6 recieving, 2 TD's

Now this is not to say that Roaf isn't a great player, but LJ manages just fine without him. Most linemen are pretty good run blockers, it's a much easier skill to master, so RB's would be less effected by a line change. Witness Houston, horrible pass blocking line, but a good run blocking line...

Man, that went horribly wrong...LOL.I don't know about that...in the 3 games that LJ started that Roaf was out weren't too bad...

There's not that much difference between Johnson, Alexander, and Tomlinson to think too hard if you have the 1st choice. The real issue is how sweet it would be to have the 3rd choice next year!

I'd love to have a top 4 pick in every league again next year.1 - LT (i'm partial)2a - SAlex2b - LJ - just cause I think Priest will factor some in and if Vermiel is there Priest will get some love. And like said above that handcuff will be expensive. If priest retires then all bets are off though.4 - Edge

What no reggie bush? I thought he was the 2nd coming and the #1 pick next year!?ok i voted LT, but wouldnt be able to argue vs SA or LJ

Uhhhh, 15% of the FBG community think Bush is #1 overall. Why you leave him off?
Executive decisions must be made for the greater good of the pool. I've already made a plea to Joe and David that we ban anyone from the pool that is honestly considering Bush at #1.

Only LT has no real ??? about his situation right now. I'd prefer to have A as I'm a Seattle fan, and that makes rooting a whole lot easier.

If you have the #1 pick next year, you have to take LT.The case against SA: 1) he may not be there. 2) if he is there, he will have gotten his payday, so whether or not he plays as "hungry" will be hard to tell. 3) RBs who finish at the top 2 years in a row do not finish at the top year 3 (I remember a thread abou this in the Marshal Faulk era)The Case against LJ: 1) He may lose part (the pro bowl part) of his O line 2) Priest will still be there in some capacity (most likely), 3) Coachng changesNot to say that I wouldn't love any of those 3, or Edge, but LT has the lowest amount of ???. Assuming Brees is where they stay, then all the players will still be there that have gotten LT where he has been the past 2 years. No one has a better work ethic in the NFL or is more of a humble professional.Being pick #3 next year is the lock.

I'd rank them like this right now (assuming no changes):LJLTSAEdgeTiki JordanRudi J. Dom DavisJackson PortisThen it's time to consider Smith/CJ/Harrison/Holt or Palmer/Manning. It will be intriguing to see where Gates starts to go next year as his value is probably late second round, with the potential to go earlier. The next tier of RB's has a lot of question marks IMHO. T. Jones/Caddy/Anderson/Gado/Dunn/Dillon, etc. have way too many question marks to get too excited about at this time. While it's certainly early, drafting in the first three slots looks pretty tasty right now = you'll get your stud, then two cracks at the leftovers from the question mark players.

I prefer natural selection. They get berated enough, they leave on their own.

(no sleep really puts me in a bad mood, it seems)
