Lions were #32 on defense over a pretty long stretch in the middle of the season. Fortunately they fell off the cliff early enough to climb back up it.

Remember when people were clowning the Lions for taking Gibbs so high?

The thinking was that they could find another good RB later and use the high draft pick on a position where it's harder to find talent late, like edge, CB, or DT. I also think Gibbs would've been available with the 2nd pick in round 1. No one knows. In hindsight, there were 2 very good RBs available in the 3rd, I think Achane would've been similar, maybe better than Gibbs early and TJ Spears would've been a very good complement to Montgomery.

Bottom line, the DET oline is great, ask Jamaal. And Gibbs is playing great after leaving yards on the field early in the year.
