I'll own it. I'm horrible. The guy comes across like Marinovich 2.0.
What the what?

Dude has about as much in common with the Hubble Telescope as he does with Todd Marinovich
Bred by his dad to be a quarterback. He is a much better player than Todd M, but every time he opens his mouth, all I hear is "This is what a leader is supposed to say, because I am a leader, and as a leader I will say what a leader is supposed to say. This has been a pre-recorded message." Dad was so fanatic about breeding a QB, he even got his meal ticket to be media savvy.

Good job, pops. You just earned your way into a nicer assisted living center.

Hey GB fans. I have three things to say:

First, I was very wrong about this game being an easy one. You guys had our number and it could have easily been you guys going to the big game. We got lucky.

Second, Packers fans were awesome at the stadium. They were graceful while winning (except for one butthole) and were graceful in loss (with the previous exception).

Third, Seahawks fans were ok to the Packer fans. I wish we were better about it, but I think after the game there were a lot of mixed emotions. I hope one day we can have a touch more class.

Fourth, I'm drunk. What a weird ####### game.

all you had to in defense of not liking Wilson is that you are a 9er fan

Really, really brutal post.

Rams fan, actually.

Emotionally spent ...

GB fans, I feel your pain. Packers blew it, but take stock. You have the best QB in the game. You're going to be back in the playoffs next year. And the year after that. And the year after that. No need to fire your coaching staff. That's what owners like Snyder do. The best franchises like GB, NY, and PIT allow their staffs to learn and grow. They don't expect to win a ring every year. They expect most years to end in a loss. That's why they consistently win more than the fickle franchises that go through coaches like cheap t-shirts.

Wilson critics? Whatever. Character counts. Most guys would have sulked. Wilson plays harder and more focused when the chips are down. We find ourselves when we face adversity. I said it at halftime and I meant it. So glad we have Russell here in Seattle, and I walk away from this game thinking that regardless of the outcome. No, I don't think he's the best. No GM would take Wilson over Luck, but I'm just glad we have such a gamer playing for our Seahawks.

Beast f-ing mode. Wow. Passion. Purely animalistic passion. And then humility with a quiet rage. Guys like Lynch are rare. He got better AFTER getting paid. How many RBs in the NFL can we say that about?

Darrell Bevel: Major props for sticking with your run game. Again, character counts and you find yourself when the chips are down. Bevel has quietly had a great year calling plays. Usually easy to fling poo at coordinators when things go poorly. We too often just give credit to players when things go right.

Here come the Pats. Looking forward to the "You mad bro?" bowl. Mad respect for Brady. I'm still rolling my eyes from earlier in the season when so many were writing him off.

Pretty cool post. Glad to hear that Packer fans represented well.Good luck in 2 weeks. I like pulling for Wilson a lot more than Brady.

The persona that you put forward here is awful. I hope you're a better person than this in real life.

Seriously. Isn't Wilson's dad dead? unreal.

Yes. He passed away just after Russell was picked by Colorado in the MLB draft. The story about his dad prepping him to be a QB is bogus. If you had asked Wilson at that time he would have told you that there was a better chance of him being a professional baseball player.

2nd this.

Congrats Hawks fans.

I've done a google search and failed to turn up the backstory that I remember having read about him and his dad. My bad, I'll own it.

Still doesn't change the fact that every time I hear Wilson speak, it sounds like the factory default settings from MediaDarlingBot 3000.

Well that was a difficult loss to digest as a Packer fan. It will stay in my memory.

Congrats to the Seahawks. They should represent the NFC well in two weeks. Here's to hoping all their bruises and injuries heal up and that they play well. Good Luck.

Look man, this is about you, not Wilson. When you have the fortitude necessary and look in the mirror and realize the one you dislike is you, well, maybe you'll grow. No need to try convince anyone posting anonymously on a message board. To thine own self be true.

He needs to be the Packers new coach. Is his name getting tossed around for head coaching jobs? Cause, if he isn't, one should open up in Green Bay soon.

I thought I remembered reading a story about Wilson's dad going Marinovich on him. I was wrong. How is misremembering that or admitting I was wrong some sign of self-loathing?

College freshman psychology: people don't remember enough to be useful, just enough to mess you up for the rest of your life. Please don't ask me to tell you about my mother.

Not sure he is making a lateral move to work under McCarthy.

Is this you being serious? Is this schtick? Or is there a difference?

I forget, which way did the refs attempt to fix the game today?

It's sad...just sad. The better team lost. Just great...now we'll be "treated" to an amazing Super Bowl. Yay....
better for 3 1/2 quarters doesn't mean the better team lost. The "better" team shouldn't choke and screw up an onsid kick, give up a hail mary 2 pointer and stop trying to score.

Parting thoughts: football is the greatest game, because of days like this. Russell Wilson should have no doubters left. Kid lead his team back to the Super Playing hurt and playing poorly. He's a champ. No way Seattle doesn't sign Marshawn to a 2-3 year contract after this. What happens in he Super Bowl doesn't matter. The Beast was the difference today.

Oh, and Seattle's D is good.
:goodposing:

I've always like RW - he was great here at WI. It's hard to root against him. Seattle has a real winner at QB for them.

You guys sure you don't want Flynn back? :)
I'm actually a (recovering) Cowboy fan that lives in the Puget Sound. I just like watching the Seahawks more than just about any team in the NFL. I doubt they needs him though.

Not sure what they were thinking. I don't think I ever remember a team self destructing like this.

McCarthy should be ashamed of himself.

It is still mind bottling that the personal foul somehow got declined.
Yeah was that mentioned by the media at all? Out of all the crazy plays in that game, isn't the decision to decline a free 15 yard penalty the most boneheaded of all?
Which 15 yard penalty are you referring to? The hit by the O-lineman on the sack of Wilson? If so, they took the result of the play instead. Because the penalty occurred before the whistle blew it would not have been tacked on to the result of the play.

Ok thanks. I thought it had occurred at the end of the play but I can't remember. There was some discussion about it earlier in the thread.

A miracle onside recovery that bounces off the guys face on an easy hop..and a miracle 2 point hail mary conversion. Not to mention GB playing not to lose on final 2 possessions...SEA was very. very lucky today. I would be devastated if a packer fan

edit--oh, and throw in a TD on a fake FG..ouch
Don't forget the Packer defender just falling down after the INT. There was too much time to do that and he had an open field in front of him. It was a perfect storm of plays that lost them that game. The TE pass drop also.

Yep. A perfect storm that one of many things could have pushed right past. McCarthy chickens out on 4th and a foot for a TD. That's game. Clinton Dix had a third pass hit him right in the face, he picks that one - game. Bostick blocks as per his self admitted assignment on that onsides, Jordy probably catches it...game. Hawk decides to cover instead of just letting an eligible receiver run open...game. Morgan Burnett just lays down on a pick return - could have been a FG.

Look if the Packers were worthy of beating the Seahawks, they would have simply done it. Reminds me of Yoda - Do or do not, there is no try. Packers tried to beat the Hawks. They did not have a winners mentality. They are now going to be the endless heels of internet memes and NFL films greatest collapses in history. They got exactly what they deserved and so did the Hawks. Hope the Hawks win the SB.

Slocum wasn't just bad today...
What did he do that was so bad? Hawk ####ed up by not doing his job. So did Bostick. I don't give a #### if Slocum is back or not but he put his players in position to make plays and they didn't perform. That's on the players.
"The Seahawks put the play into their game plan after studying video and seeing how the Packers rushed hard off the edge on field goal attempts. Ryan was initially supposed to run for the first down, but when A.J. Hawk approached, he was able to find Gilliam open in the end zone. " My Link

Want to revise your statement? Hawk was in a lose-lose situation and the Seahawks found a weakness in the Packer's special team. If that isn't on the coach, then I don't know what is.

The CB lost contain which is what set the problem up. And to make matters worse after looking at it, he didn't even try hard to block it. You want to be mad at someone, I'd be mad at him. You seem to not like Hawk and that may or may not be justified but few if any LBs would be able to do anything to stop at the very least a first down.

Exactly. We weren't going to block that FG anyway. Nobody should have been rushing hard, they should have been watching for a fake FG, like thousands of us at home who have seen the Packers special teams #### up before.

Bostick. Oh man, just showed that guy after the game on ESPN. Feel for that dude.
Yeah, me too. Not only did he screw up, but he screwed up while not doing his assignment. And now he'll be known as the guy who kept the Packers out of the Super Bowl for the rest of his life. Wouldn't wish that on anyone.

Guy wasn't in on defense to allow the two touchdowns and the 2point conversion that happened after that play.

:goodposting:

The Packers were undone by what was eventually going to be their undoing and it was obvious all season long....they have no defense.

They looked good in the first half because the Seahawks made them look that way by playing so bad.

If they had scored a TD - TWICE - when at the 1 yard line then we're not talking about Bostick

If their defense could tackle, then Lynch doesn't do the hot knife through butter routine to score.

If Clinton-Dix had his head about him, he'd have "done his job" and played pass defense on the 2 point conversion.

Their safety play did them in in overtime too.

And that's before we get to the "playing it safe" play calling.

If your season comes down to whether or not Brandon Bostick does his job on an onside kick then you've likely failed in other aspects of the game.

ETA: Someone other than Hawk might have made a better play on that fake kick too. Why not cover the receiver? Do you really think the kicker is going to run for that score?

Agreed...that's why the conservative play calling in the 2nd half was frustrating. McCarthy put the game in the hands of a mediocre defense instead of the NFL MVP. Green Bay's defense played over it's head for 3 1/2 quarters...it was the offense and their 22 points off 5 turnovers is what did them in.
