NFC South (1 Viewer)

I think the Bucs should win this Sunday against NO, but like PatrickT said they have been a thorn in our side.
I think every NFC South division game has been won at home this year, but none have been won on the road yet.
There's a first for everything.Breesus got dat touchdown fever right now. Like, a really bad case of it.Look for the Saints to win this one. Possibly big.
I wouldn't expect Aquib Talib to make a rookie mistake like he did covering Henderson in the first game. Also, the Bucs D got dat touchdown fever right now as well.
I'm only worried about Old Man Galloway. Sure, he's still somewhat recovering from his broken hip and all, but the dood singlehandedly has kilt us in many games. Breesus can't be stopped right now. Y'all gonna have to score more than one offensive touchdown this time...
They play defense in the NFL too. Well, except for in New Orleans and a few other places. There's a reason the Saints are nothing more than an average team 3/4 of the way into the season.Brees is great, but the Bucs D has faced better offenses.
Whenever you get tired of hanging out in Lalaland, there's a great season going on.
bump! I just got out of lalaland and saw the Bucs are now 9-3 and the mediocre Saints are a mediocre 6-6. What are their records in the land you're living in? :bye:

The Tampa Bay at Carolina Monday night game is going to say A LOT about how the division will go down. That's in two short weeks.

And the Bucs have seen better offenses than the Saints this year? Newsflash: That offense, the one that's better than the Saints', doesn't exist.Show me a better offense and I'll show everybody a liar.
Newsflash: Brees is a great QB when the Saints are ahead in a game, but when they aren't, he is a lousy clutch QB.

Newsflash: That offense, the one that's better than the Saints', doesn't exist.Show me a better offense and I'll show everybody a liar.
wrong. there isn't a better passing offense, but there are only 5 worse running games in the league. Actually, I'm not all that sure the Saints passing game is better than the Chargers - about the same NY/A, Chargers have one more TD and 2 less INTs. It just isn't as key to their game plan.Until the Saints learn to run, they're going nowhere. And I can't call an offense with an anemic running game a great offense.

If the season ended today, the NFC South would be sending three teams to the playoffs. Not quite sure why we own the tiebreaker over the 'Boys, conference record, I guess, but they face a much tougher schedule than us from here out.

It's next Monday. Huge game....could also be for a bye.
I'll be there for this one, steaming oysters and crab legs at the tailgate after work next Monday. I had lost a little confidence in the Panthers coming into this week, then they win at Lambeau. Can't figure this team out, or more directly, can't figure out whats wrong with Jake Delhomme. He still looks bad. Here's to hoping the home field trend continues in the NFC South. The division is 22-2 at home. Panthers and Bucs 6-0 and Atlanta and New Orleans 5-1.

Not sure who to root for in the Car/TB game, but I'm personally hoping we buck that trend at NO next Sunday.

Bunch of over rated teams in this division IMO. I thought the Bucs were the class of the division but they played crap games v. Det and KC. The Panthers haven't played a decent game on both sides of the ball in ages. The only team I really respect is Atlanta, that said, any decent Def Coordinator should throw Ryan for a loop. I think the coaching is suspect everywhere except Atlanta.

I am very interested to see what the spread on the Carolina/ Tampa game will open up at. Tampa crushed them earlier in the season, but Carolina has been improving.

I don't think Delhomme looked bad. He led the Panthers from behind in the 4th quarter. Delhomme is good at leading comebacks, and that's exactly what he did in the Green Bay game, and almost did in the Atlanta game. I would be more concerned about Carolina's Defensive meltdowns in the 4th quarter than Delhomme.

:lmao:Are you refering to squeaking by the Raiders? Maybe going down to the wire v. the Lions at home? Getting waxed by the dirty birds? Maybe it was the impressive defensive showing v. the Pack and their killer kickoff return coverage. Unfortunately the Bucs exposed the smoke and mirrors earlier in the year.

yup...zero pass rush and a ####### coaching staff that refuses to address it.

Gruden and Monte may be doing their best job ever...team is playing with a lot of discipline, yet still has the swagger.IMO coaching is a major advantage for Tampa over everyone else.

I think Atlanta has done a great coaching job this year, but they have their questionable play calling too, especially near the goal line. No NFC South team is perfect.

They played great on both sides of the ball this year against KC, and their home games against Atlanta and New Orleans.

I didn't see the Det or KC game, but getting behind to those two teams seems like a lack of focus.

The KC game I cant argue with, but there were lurking variables in the ATL and NO games. NO was moving the ball really well until Bush got injured and forced NO to become pretty one dimensional on offense. In the ATL game the falcons receivers dropped a lot of passes that could have kept some drives going. Carolina has been painfully inconsistent all year long, and know how to screw up whenever they need it least.

Those games seem like ages ago anyway.

What does it say about making in-game adjustments?I can't remember a Buc team having less penalties. We as Buc fans have always accepted the bone-headed plays here and there, because it came with that attitude. Now...they still have the attitude with less mistakes...which is leading to a lot of wins in close games. That is good coaching.

PATS AND BUCS WILL PLAY IN LONDONPosted by Mike Florio on December 1, 2008, 1:01 p.m.The New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will play a regular-season game at London’s Wembley Stadium on October 25, 2009, the NFL announced on Monday. The Bucs will be the home team, which means that the cannons at Raymond James Stadium will be firing for only seven regular-season games in 2009. (The fact that Tampa is hosting the Super Bowl this year might make the pill go down a bit more easily.)It will mark the second straight sacrifice of a home game by an NFC South team. Earlier this year, the Saints gave up a home game to host the Chargers in London. The move was questioned in some circles (as in, right here) because of the fact that the citizens of New Orleans had lost all eight home games only three years ago.“Over the past two years, we have seen first-hand the excitement that exists for our sport in the UK,” Commissioner Roger Goodell said of next year’s game. “The games have helped us to deepen our connection with our UK fans as well as create new ones. We are looking forward to another outstanding game in 2009.”Said Patriots owner Robert Kraft: “We are proud to be selected by the NFL to be featured in next year’s international game. We have had a lot of memorable moments in recent years. I am sure our trip to the United Kingdom next year will prove to be an unforgettable experience for our players and coaches, as well as the many fans that will travel to the game. I think it is fitting that New England’s first game to be played outside of North America will be in England. I know that the UK is home to some of our most passionate Patriots fans and we look forward to the experience.”There ultimately could be a significant layer of intrigue when these two teams square off; Tampa quarterback Jeff Garcia is in the final year of his contract with the team, and the cap-rich Bucs might enter the offseason bidding for current Patriots quarterback Matt Cassel.
Sucks giving up a home game.

Interesting post from another board regarding Tiebreakers:

a) Assume Bucs beat SD and Oakland at home to finish out the season

b) If Bucs win at CAR, lose at ATL

1. Carolina cannot catch TB

2. TB wins 3 team tie-breaker between TB, CAR, and ATL based on .750 or 1.000 win % vs ATL and CAR (this is #1 tiebreaker in 3 way division tie)

3. If ATL wins out (at NO, vs TB, at MIN, vs STL) AND CAR is not in 3 way tie, it would go to #5 tiebreaker, Strength of Victory. The current Strength of Victory right now is Bucs .437, ATL .365.

Difference in wins would be...

TB gets extra CAR win, ATL gets extra NO win. Advantage Bucs+3

TB beat SEA, ATL beat STL. Advantage: Even

c) If TB loses at CAR, wins at ATL

1. Carolina must win at NYG AND at NO to win the division. If they lose either of them we win tiebreaker.

I know...but in summary...if the Bucs split the next two games...they can win their last two home games for the division.

Doesn't this leave one obvious option out...............since all eight games have gone to the home team so far in the division, I would have at least included that scenario. Bucs lose to Carolina and Atlanta.

Meant to include that...this is a scenario showing that the Bucs will be in the drivers seat with a split. Much easier said than done.

Two-team race now. Atlanta will be two games back after tomorrow night, and the Bucs have an easy final two games.

Yep, we're playing for a wildcard. Barring a collapse from BOTH Bucs and Panthers, which I don't expect, we eliminated ourselves from the division title today.
