NFL Draft Day Trades (1 Viewer)

So I know trades at this year's draft can only involve picks and future picks, but can they involve "players to be named later"? Meaning teams could trade an unknown player in principle, but not finalize the trade until the CBA is reached? I think the answer is likely no, but why not? Why can't they agree to trades and finalize the veteran players later?

NO, the NFL has said that is not an option

I am seeing a lot of mocks with teams with early second round picks trading back up into the first to get a QB. Of course the mockers never address the cost for the trade up.

In the 2007 draft, the Browns traded up from 36 to 22 to select Brady Quinn. It cost them their 2008 1st round pick. Not cheap. I doubt whether any QB in this draft would be worth it.

guess i was wrong about trading future picks? Just read link where Mort has advised us that they can trade future picks. In some RB thread I provided another link that said teams couldn't...

players aren't usually traded on draft day anyways. Mostly before the draft or after so teams have enough time to get player in for physical before it all goes through. At least, that's what Rick Spielman said last night on the Sirius NFL radio.
