What say you....generally I am an NFL network guy and sometimes watching ESPN just makes me feel uneasy or something. Big fan of Eisen and the guys but also like Shefter and Schrager....was sad to see them with ESPN.

Cut the cable years ago and have no interest in paying for more than one streaming platform (which I use for movies, etc.) So, it's the antennae and ABC for me, which will be the piggybacked ESPN broadcast.

I remember the NFLN draft coverage from my Dish days years ago and I will admit that I prefer their broadcast over ESPN by a fairly wide margin. As I mentioned in the recent Kiper thread, not really a fan of him. I think Eisen & NFLN are more informative and entertaining.

NFLN over ESPN for me. Mostly for Eisen.
Also, I feel like NFLN is less “yell-y” than ESPN. But I might be misremembering. I’ll find out tomorrow night since I’m DVR-ing the NFLN broadcast to watch after work.

To be honest, will probably watch Pat McAfee show tonight, they do a lot of wasting time, but it mostly is a waste of time for fans. Mad Mel Kiper and Coach Holtz always make me laugh. When my Steelers are up I will tune into NFL network for real coverage, if they make a pick tonight. I dont want to put espn on for anything, ever, unless its for live games.
Friday and Saturday will be NFL network for sure.

anyone know whatt ime the DRAFT actually starts? gonna set my alarm to wake up, and wanna miss all the BS beforehand.

Thanks!
That's a good question that I wish there were a public answer to. Not that it matters to me, I'll be asleep regardless. But you see "8:00" and it means nothing, because does that mean the clock starts at 8:00, or 8:15, or 8:35, or 9:00, or 9:20, or .....?

Exactly... 2am is a hard enough ask, but if I gotta wait 30min-1hr for CLE to make a pick ill be steaming

Think I barely watched last year but def would have been NFLN. I don’t watch ESPN unless it’s a live sporting event, stopped watching any of their content around 2011.

2023 - when I was intensely interested because the Lions had so much draft capital - I watched Bootleg Football’s livestream (Brett Kollmann from The Film Room and E.J. Snyder of Windy City Gridiron). They’re entertaining and two of my favorite football film guys.

From what I recall in Kansas City the draft started pretty quick. So when they say 7:00, I think that's when it starts.

Once Roger Goodell got up there and said his welcoming comments he said something like:

The draft is now open.
The dog and pony show starts at 7:00. The clock starts several minutes after that.

FIFA World Cup is the only event i know of that starts sharp at the advertised time.

The last few times it seems as if the actual show starts at 8 EST, there's a quarter of hour of fluff, then we waste 15 minutes while the Titans work out how to spell Ward. I'd set an alarm for four hours from this post and feel safe you'll miss nothing

Maybe it's the NFL requesting it, but it always amazes me how long it takes for the first pick to come in. I mean you have had the entire off season to figure this out but you need that last extra 10 minutes to be sure.

I mean I can understand giving it a couple of minutes in case someone decided to go full Ricky Williams after a couple of shandies, but yep, if you've decided that a QB is going to be your guy then just make the pick

I think you're correct. They want to make a production out of it so it's rare to see a pick with more than 5 minutes left on the clock.

But think of the pundit's reactions to "AND THE JAGUARS ARE SPRINTING TO THE PODIUM! FIND OUT WHO THEY PICK, RIGHT AFTER THESE COMMERCIALS"

I assume every second of draft night is choreographed down to the last detail - except for Roger's bourbon consumption. I think he kind of wings it.

this is their 15 minutes of fame and having the national media talk about them for even just a few minutes on one of the biggest stages after coming off a terrible meaningless season....gonna milk it out before they fade completely back into being irrelevant even with the #1 pick.....and there really hasn't been any mystery about what they are going to do...

Lions got chastised by the league office for turning in a pick too quickly (either Sewell or Hutch.)

Still find it hard to fathom that back in the day Baltimore and Minnesota (2 different years? I think so) let their time expire and other teams jumped in front of them with their picks.
