NFL live from Germany **Colts at Patriots** (+1.5, 43) 9:30/6:30am, set your alarms (1 Viewer)

Been some chatter about this being a make or break game for Belichick. I find that hard to believe, but its out there.

For the Patriots, I think they try to stick to the ground game and try and grind out a win with Rhamondre.

For the Colts, I really like the matchup for Michael Pittman as he'll have 5-6 inches on anyone covering him and could see extra targets (and he already sees tons) with Downs banged up.

I'll say Colts win 21-19.

I find it hard to believe they wouldn't let him finish out the season.

Would Coach BB be an instant hire somewhere at his advanced age and inability to appear to be on top of the modern NFL?
I'm not sure I would hire him if I owned an NFL team. Somebody probably would though

The issue with BB for me is control. Isn't he going to want to be the GM and the HC? He's proven over and over that he can't identify/develop offensive skill players in this current state of football. I think the best thing for everyone is BB retire at the end of the year and move on to the next phase of his life.

A "stodgy" organization (Washington, Chicago, Atlanta, New Orleans) or one that wants to "fix its defense" (Vikings, LAC) or looking for a "splash hire" (Dallas, Carolina).

Given that NE has huge cash and draft resources next year, I think that BB and Kraft have an understanding that next year's reload is the "last stand". No one else is saying this afaik.

I'm at a point where I likely need to win the next 5 ...... (yikes) to have a shot at the playoffs.

Pittman has been better than I expected this season, but I ALSO had him last year in the same league (my biggest and longest running).
I swore I'd never own Pittman again, but I like the talent if they ever can get him the ball consistently.
A big day from Pittman is what I essentially need there, so he'll likely get hurt. You boys have been warned. :D

In said League I started the draft this way, essentially standard but start 3 WRs.
Pick #1 - Saquon Barkley
Pick #2 - Tony Pollard
Pick #3 - Lamar Jackson
Pick #4 - Keenan Allen
Pick #5 - DJ Moore
Pick #6 - Javonte Williams
(I did also snag Pittman in the 8th rd to be my WR3)

Barkley has missed 4-5 weeks, Pollard has been flat terrible and a couple blowouts has put him squarely on the bench for lengthy periods of time during a couple games.
Lamar Jackson has managed to put up less than 14 pts multiple times, and he did it on weeks where I lost multiple others to injury early in their respective games.
Williams has been hurt as well, although I knew that was a possibility to start the season. Pittman has been decent, but even he can't help much when your top picks are injured this much.

That said, I STILL like my team, but currently at 2-7 I may have to win out the rest of the regular season to even make the playoffs.

I agree with @travdogg in that Pittman may well have a good day. Some of us need it. :football:

Got the game on low volume in the other room and not really following the convo but I slowly realize the world's oldest man is currently on tv.

Oh, hey, morning Mr Kraft.

So I tried tea and crumpets when the games were in London.
Went with beer and brats for the first Germany game, guess I'll repeat that today.
I know it's early a.m. here. But I live in Margaritaville so you know..."It's Five O-Clock Somewhere"
The game? How about...

Patriots- 27
Colts- 23

They're playing at Waldstadion today. The authentic beverage choice would be Apfelwein (Frankfurt’s beloved apple wine, a drink similar to cider.)

May not find that at your local liquor store, eh.

Actually there's a very popular German deli and sandwich shop about 10 minutes from my house that sells that.
But they don't open until 11:00am so I'll spike the apple cider I have in the fridge.

I would think he'd have his choice of jobs.

Orchids of Asia. World's oldest profession gets a pharmaceutical lift in the 21st century. He recently gave $50 mil to MGH. You can't take it with you.

I'm beginning to think that Philly really can run the tush push just better than other teams do.

Pittman looked like he got in.

And sure there's an injury on that play. Just because Philly can run it doesn't make it kosher.

Starting to think that loaded up QB sneak (tush push) only works with Hurts and Josh Allen. Seems like it fails unless the QB is really strong.

Maybe Richardson could have made it work, but not Minshew.

but every team could do it if they wanted! and it's so dangerous!

Remember when Mac Jones had a really good rookie season, and then seemingly got worse by the week?

Just feels like it needs to be brought up when considering QB development, and another case of the guy who looks best first, doesn't mean they are.

ETA: He looks like a guy who should be a #2 to me.

Belichick with that brainfart on special teams. Except it isn't a brainfart because he does that often.

And it's stupid almost every time he does it.
