Living in Canada, we normally only get 3-4 hours of the ESPN coverage through TSN. Can I count on the NFL network for live draft coveage? If so, how many rounds do they cover.

I remember a couple of years back. It was about to be the Cowboys pick, and I was yelling "Stephen Jackson...Stephen Jackson", the coverage was then ended to go the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.

:hot: I almost put my foot through the TV. :hot:

Living in Canada this has made my day too. Also happy that don't have to listen to hours of Berman and now will get analysis from coaches rather than high profile players as guys like Butch Davis and Dan Reeves have lived and breathed draft day War Rooms in their career.

They have coverage this year but I am not sure how extent, which is to say I am not sure if they have a studio on site like ESPN, but I know they have programming planned.

Man that's funny. I bet you did it again 24 hours later when you find out the Cowboys passed on Jackson.About the only thing I can think of that can compare is the infamous "Heidi" or "Sound of Music" deal> (before my time)

But if my team was picking and a freakin' dog show came on I might kick my own just because he was one.

:lmao:

Just curious, how big is the CFL up there? You know, on Sundays down here, you can skip going to church and watch football until midnight. :P

What kind of broadcast coverage do they have up there? What kind of fan affinity? Where does football rank in the culture compared to other sports? I know hockey is the religion, but what are the major sports after that?

What kind of salaries do the CFL guys make? Do most universities and high schools have teams?

How many weeks is the regular season? How many teams? How many make the playoffs?

You know what? I think I'd get into watching Canadian football, the CFL I mean, if it were broadcast down here. You guys should play in the spring and summer, I'd definetely watch REAL football (even if you have only 3 downs, a wack field, and you get the ball back if you are behind) over this Arena League crap. When does the season run?

I logged into NFL.com right away to hear the pick was traded.Good trade btw......

Some good questions.

Canada is a hockey first Country for sure. There is a large Football fan base and a grass roots type of a approach. The biggest thing holding Canada back is weather compared to your Southern States. Mopst popular teams in Canada in no order are (Buffalo/Detroit/Cleve/Pitts/Seattle/G.B./Dallas)

There are 2 main National networks that televise the CFL (CBC and TSN) both do a good job. I am not a fan of the CFL, too high scoring and no big names to watch root for.

Not sure how many teams...8 or 10. I believe 6 make the playoffs. Blah Blah Grey Cup long history...yada yada. It usually starts in August and goes till Dec/Jan. Most of the guys make 30k-90k I would guess. The QB's and high profile players may make 300K. Small potatoes really.

I live between Toronto and Detroit and Football is very big here. I do hope one day the NFL gives Toronto a franchise. It would be an unbridled success, could sell out a 80k stadium every week.....no question.

WOW - I remember when the draft was an intimate affair - maybe getting a quick clip or two of the player your team drafted - a quick comment or tow and move on/

Two networks mean much better coverage - I like the competition! Tivo will be on overdrive that day - Watch Kiper during the day then NFL Network at night.

The NFL Network will have its own set at the draft's headquarters for the first time. The league's cable channel, now in 36 million homes, has its own draft picker to counter Kiper: Mike Maycock.
:lmao: Tough decision there. Kiper or Elmer Fudd.....

Maybe it's just my opinion, but I would think that if the NFL Network is as good as I've heard it is, it would be very much to their benefit to provode non-subscribers with free access to what they have up until the actual draft.

Ahh it's late November the Grey Cup not December or January! Toronto would only get an NFL team if the Bills move here or the Bills moved to LA or somewhere else and then the NFL might consider re-locating to TO. As for a sell-out, I'm not sure if they would. They probably would get 90% capacity but tickets would go on AVERAGE of over $100 Canadian for a seat.

Being in the newspaper business here in Toronto, I just looked at the TV guide for next week. In Canada, TSN will NOT SHOW ANY of the NFL draft, as per the ESPN feed. Instead they have scheduled ........

12:00 pm to 2:30 pm - IIHF under-18 world hockey championship.

2:30 to 3:00 ----------- TSN profile on Scotty Bowman

3:00 to 6:00 ------------ 1st round of NHL playoffs

So it's THE (NFL) Network or nothing for us canucks. All I can say since I do have THE network is...... thewww
