NFL Scoring Changes (1 Viewer)

How frequently does the NFL change Assisted tackles to tackles?

My starting ILB, NaVorro Bowman put up an unheard of 12 assisted tackles and 4 solo. This ended up costing me $1,000 as I lost my league title by 1.05 points. It's a tough pill to swallow and my only hope of a victory is a possible scoring change.

Any and all insight on how the NFL reviews statistics and more specifically defensive statistics would be greatly appreciated.

I can't for the life of me understand how the official scorers at last nights game credited such a high number of assisted tackles. Hoping that a few of them are turned to solo but realizing my chances are slim. Dominated all year and to lose like this is just eating at me!!!! Sorry for the vent.

Think you are going to be out of luck. Tackles vs Assists is up to the home field crew as to how they are scored, some home fields are known for giving more assists than solo tackles when some other home field crew would count it as a solo tackle. I don't believe as to whether it would be a solo tackle vs an assist is reviewed by the NFL.

Does your league automatically do stat corrections? If yes, you will have to sweat it out until Thursday (using MFL). If not, you are out of luck but why a league would not use stat corrections is beyond me.

But thats if something gets changed...who knows if anything will.

This. NFL teams put in requests to the NFL to have the stats from various plays reviewed, which is what Elias does for the NFL. But the NFL refuses to review tackle stats. There would probably have to be some other stat involved on a play, like a sack, fumble recovery, etc, that was being reviewed for them to make a tackle correction.

Ah man! Thanks guys. I just find it odd to grant someone such a high assisted tackle total. I tracked every one of Bowman's tackles. There were quite a few where they certainly looked like solos (in addition to the clear solos recorded). Maybe I'm being bias, but it's a tough pill to swallow. To lose in the finals by 1.05 pts!! I dominated all year and should have handled my opponent. Tough luck. :wall:

Yeah, it's entirely possible that if more than one player was around the tackle the scorekeeper just jotted down whoever was close and gave assists to everyone rather than taking the time to replay it and make sure who got a solo or not. One of the guys from PFF (who chart every individual play for every player) said it may take his guys 6 viewings of a play just to be sure on solo/assisted tackles for a play, while the scorekeepers are probably just seeing it once. And it can vary by individual scorekeeper on how exactly they do it. I recall a couple year old article on the topic I read recently by one of the Steeler beat writers that went into some depth on it, mentioned how he thought some teams (Ravens, of course him being in Pittsburgh) pad their player's tackle stats. I've heard stories of players lobbying for stats where it related especially to bonuses tied to them, that would be one place I could see a team scorekeeper handing out some free tackles.I've had in the back of my mind perhaps a study to try to tell which stadiums have the most IDP-friendly scorekeepers, but think I'd be too short on information (probably can't tell if it's the same scorekeeper from one game to the next or one season to the next, for example) to be able to trust any results from such.

i wouldn't count on it. i remember in week 2, the cowboys played at seattle. sean lee was credited with 4 solos and 10 assists. the cowboys later credited him with 21 tackles, 15 solos and are claiming it is a team record. no scoring change was ever made by the NFL ... they'll change sacks, but i haven't seen too many changes on solo tackles over the years and i've been in an IDP since Peyton's rookie year.
