NFL Team Spying on JaMarcus Russell's Personal Life? (1 Viewer)

Russell claims that at one point recently an NFL team -- he says he does not know which one -- spied on him for a period of several days and possibly longer by assigning someone to follow him.

Russell said a man followed and watched every thing he did and everywhere he went.

He knows this, Russell said, because an NFL team official anonymously told Russell's uncle and father-like figure, Ray Russell, about the spying and foot pursuits.
http://cbs.sportsline.com/nfl/story/10151477/1Give the $$ teams are dropping on these guys not sure I have a problem with it...

Nothing wrong with that. If I'm spending millions on something I'm going to check it out rather carefully too.

You could have a lot of fun with that if you knew what was happening.

For example, what if Russell spend a day doing everything left-handed?

I can imagine...It would be like, that commercial, where the clerk at the grocery store says "I'm Open Here" then he throws the Pinapple right at the guys chest!!! I'd be trying to show off if I were him if I knew he was being spied on!

But does a potential employer have the right to spy on an applicant? Isn't this a right issue?
I'm sure there is nothing illegal about hiring a PI to follow someone around - in fact it sounds like due diligence that may not reveal anything negatively , but if it does - it's money well spent. :goodposting:

You're kidding, right? As long as they don't violate any other laws doing it, then there's no problem at all. You always have the right to stay inside your home with the shades drawn if you don't want to be seen. If you're out in public, you're fair game.

It's probably much more common than people realize. I have a PI client who has been hired to trail both prospective and current pro athletes in the Phoenix area...it keeps him surprisingly busy.
