NFL to host Veterans Combine for FAs in March (1 Viewer)

Great idea...think about all the times a guy like Tim Hightower (just an example) works out for a team midseason after a key skill player goes down. Now we will know ahead of time (and the teams themselves), whether this guy "has it" or not. In a league that caters to the shiny new thing, it is nice to see them give the vets an opportunity to showcase their talents again.

Too lazy to read article, when will this take place?

Edit: JK I just read it. March.

Will be a good way to burn up the gap between the combine and draft. Wonder how the turnout will be from teams/scouts as opposed to the real combine when everyone is there.

they should treat this like a contest, kind of like the Crossfit games or something:

- assign point values for how well you place in the different events

- the overall point winner is guaranteed a contract at his veterans minimum salary

- if no team signs that player, the NFL pays his contract

- NFL sponsors (Bose, Microsoft, etc.) can offer their own incentives ($40K for the fastest 40 time, etc.)

I'm a genius!

Can't wait for this to be on smack in the middle of the NCAA Tournament Round 3 (Round of 32). Roger's mission to permeate every portion of the calendar is coming to fruition.
