NFL Trade Deadline Day! (Rumors & Rumblings) (1 Viewer)

It's not all that bad, but taking on the money is just one part of this.  Is a team really willing to take on the money and give whatever the Jets are asking in return?
Being the demand for RB's is at an all-time low, and factoring in the contract you'd be taking on, I could see the Jets only asking a 3rd rounder for Bell. If you are a team like KC, that is probably pretty reasonable. I can't see the Eagles or Bills doing that, because they just invested 2nd and 3rd round picks in rookie RB's, and already have solid(though nowhere near Bell's level) veteran options.

No idea. When this report first sprung up this morning I figured Jets would be trying to almost give him away to make someone else inherit his 2020 guarantees.  Now hearing from both Mort who was just on Sirius and Jet's beat writer whose tweet I posted that they are not actively shopping him so much as teams are calling to see if he is available and you can see in that tweet from Jets beat writer who says the price is high. If the price is high, he'll be reporting to One Jet Drive tomorrow.

Don’t see how the Jets get anything for him. They were bidding against themselves when they signed him to that contract in the first place.
Need for a playoff team is always a driving force in overcoming obstacles like a simple Day 3 pick.

If KC CHOSE to run the ball, they might not be 5-3... but McCoy is 5.3 ypc so this is more OC issue.  Houston is getting good mileage from Hyde (4.2ypc) but maybe Duke has let them down as a 3rd Down RB... 17 or 27 targets?

LaCanfora tweeted a "hunch" about Howard to the Patriots. The first response pretty much nails the value of a LaCanfora hunch. But, since we're tracking rumors....

From my understanding, talking to sources, #Jets aren’t shopping LeVeon Bell as much as teams are calling them. They heard fire sale, and phoned Douglas to see price. Is there a price? Yes. It’s high. #Chiefs & #Texans most interested. Chiefs have more to possibly get it done
can leveon play defense? cuz thats what kc needs

To be fair, KC may be very wary of overworking McCoy, as he's in his 30's, and has been injury prone in the last 2 years. He's also lost a fumble in each of the last 2 games, and seems increasingly sloppy with the ball in general. He's always had a bit of a loaf of bread style, but it seems especially notable this year.

He can keep the defense off the field more, that is a kind of helping...

Titans worked out Josh Johnson and Taylor Hienicke. I wonder if Mariota could be on the move. I'd love to see him in Chicago, but I could see Elway being interested in a top prospect, who might just need a change of scenery. Especially with the likelihood that Flacco is possibly done for the season, and Drew Lock isn't ready yet.

ETA: If Mariota did go to Denver, I think between that, and Sanders being dealt, that Noah Fant's value would be stabilized a bit.

Cincy benching Dalton in favor of rookie Ryan Finley after the bye.  No reason not to trade AJ Green at this point.

It's like every sport still uses a fax machine to send in the trades and we don't find out till 5:30-6:30pm EST.
in the nba, even after the notification is put into the league office, there is still a long call with all parties where they have to run down a huge list of details to make sure everyone agrees.  I assume that is the same in all sports and that takes time after the deadline.

good lord

If Dalton is benched, he should be traded.  He's an upgrade for like half the league.  Bears and TItans would probably be all over that.

The Bengals might be too stupid to do that though.

Bengals should be blowing it all up. Dalton, Green, Eifert, Glenn, Bernard(even though he just re-signed) anyone who isn't either a building block(Mixon, Jackson) or has too big a cap hit(Dunlap, Atkins, Boyd) should be very available.

Edit: Disregard.

I agree they should look to deal Dalton. I think it's something more likely to occur in the offseason.

Won't be the Bears if the compensation required is a 1st IMO. They don't own their 2020 1st (Oak).

They're 2.5 games back of even a WC spot. AJ Green in a new offense doesn't fix Mitch Trubisky. Give a 2nd round pick (and new contract) in a lost season? Hard pass.

If that high on Green, go after him in offseason. It'll get messy in Cincy if they try to franchise Green.
He's talking about trading Dalton, not Green.

Josh Johnson is the most-traveled quarterback in the history of the NFL. He's been on the roster of 13 different teams.

Not picking on you specifically...

When are people going to give up on this? He wasn't great when last he played. He hasn't played for years. The league does not want him.

He. Ain't. Coming. Back. Ever.
He thinks he's worth 20 million.+ and is stubbornly holding to that.  Otherwise i think he might get signed?  Maybe not now, post settlement...

Today is Andy Dalton's birthday, and I can think of no better present than not having to get pummeled behind that awful o-line for a going nowhere team.

Jets beat writer claims that everyone except Darnold and Quinnen are on the table right now.

If that is true, teams should be tripping over each other to trade a 1st rounder for Jamal Adams. He might be the best safety in the NFL, and nobody notices because he's on the Jets. If he were on say, Dallas, he'd have all-pro talk.

Bell and Adams for KC's 2020 draft

One 1st probably not getting it done for Adams.

Maybe not, but its possible. Maybe include a pick swap later in the draft, like add a 3 and get a 4 in return?

2 hours left, can't help but feel we aren't going to see much until like 15 minutes before the deadline.

I think he's going to cost two 1sts, but I guess you never know.

Oh those J E T S jets jets jets...

(Rotoworld) ESPN's Rich Cimini reports Jets SS Jamal Adams is a "hot name" ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline.

Analysis: We would assume more than half the league is interested, but NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports the Cowboys have "touched base." 24-year-old Adams is one of Gang Green's best players, but coach Adam Gase doesn't like him. Who exactly does Gase like? The move is not about Adams' contract, as he is under team control through 2021. Neither Gase nor his handpicked front office seem to have any real idea what they are doing.

You can't build for the future of you're not crappy in the present!

And wouldn't you rather have your fan base have hope than real expectations?

And let's not discount the positive influence he'll be in the locker room.

You're right. Hadn't thought about that.
He's on IR.  He'll never see the locker room.   Rams dump salary and an expiring contract, Fins get a draft pick.   Maybe a compensatory pick as well if someone signs him.

May have to withdraw my waiver request for the Jets D.

A comp pick is probably unlikely. I can't imagine the Dolphins not being among the most active teams in the offseason.

I slag on Rotoworld's snarky, reductive, and usually inaccurate commentary often, but this ..... this could have come down from the mountain on stone tablets.
