NFL & Zekes domestic violence issue (1 Viewer)

I just saw an update that the NFL investigators recently interviewed him. In the wake of the Josh Brown incident this is making me nervous.

Lets to say worst case scenario they decide to give him a few games suspension. Is their a precedent that the league does it immediately or do they wait until the off season.

Slightly nervousness because I don't have the Alf backup.

Well the league introduced a zero tolerance policy with a min 6 game suspension in 2014. They have since implemented it not once.

So I don't think anyone could say one way or another.

He was cleared from the police and proof of his ex lying have been bought to the surface. Nothing to see here.

I would think they would start with proof that anything happened? But hey in the presidential elections they don't.  So yeah, I could see a year ban before finding the facts. :loco:

I read somewhere, I think on Sleeperbot, that there was evidence of his girlfriend texting another friend to lie in order to get back at Zeke. If all that's true not sure where this investigation will lead or why it's even being reopened

From what I've heard, there's no reason to suspect Zeke is guilty. But I have to say, if he is, the effect on his fantasy value is the farthest thing from my mind.

Yeah, it's almost like the NFL is motivated less by a respect for due process and more by PR concerns.

The way our media chooses to spin stories, actually has a dramatic effect on the Public view..  Most folks appear sheep-like and will blindly mistake unproven story-lines for facts..  Once their lead to an assumption, its quite hard to change that belief..

The NFL is quite  should be perceptive of how quickly things can spin out of control..  I believe its almost too easy to consider some line of questioning, could have included some form of "leading the witness" so to speak, which may have resulted in a fib of sorts..  Once the brass knows or can prove its a fib?  The door is open..

So, we should at least be cognizant of the fact that just because the Police cant make a case?  The NFL does have a policy, that all players need to abide..  Personally, Im just happy the media hasnt attempted to portray, (I would assume) the former g/f as being after some monies..

Heres a quote:  "The reported allegations and Internet postings regarding our son are completely false. Ezekiel has done nothing wrong. The police have investigated this matter and eyewitnesses have verified the lack of any wrongdoing. The actual evidence in this matter clearly indicates what the real motivation was behind the police being called. We are confident that when the truth comes to light it will reveal the falsity of these claims. Ezekiel has been fully cooperative with the police and will continue to do so—along with cooperating with the NFL—moving forward.”

Now IF Im going to be forthright with you guys?  Im going to need to say that, Im kinda disappointed with the bolded part..  Its sorta like saying:  Cops wernt there to check on a battered woman..

It would not surprise me if the facts were far different than we have been told, nor would it surprise me if the girl was lying, as he claims. Then again, wasn't Zeke also seen preseason in a Seattle store that sells pot?  This does not seem like the kind of guy who is making especially good decisions.  My guess is, this never amounts to anything, but I hope he is surrounding himself with some better friends now.

Because the internet exists.

Not to pick on you, but this is what I hate the most about theses kinds of stories. Either Zeke committed DV or he didn't. Unconfirmed rumors and extraneous details have no bearing on that question. It reminds me of when people talk about Winston's "off-field problems" at FSU and lump together the crab legs with the accused rape.

I get what you are saying, but it has to do with questions about his character and maturity.  I think there may be some legitimate concerns. (I'm not sure what "unconfirmed rumors" you are referring to, unless you are referring to the Domestic Violence claim itself.)

I don't know all of the facts concerning the DV allegation.  Perhaps the accuser indeed received her injuries in an unrelated bar fight, as Zeke claims, but the pictures she posted online of her injuries are consistent with her claim of DV.  I have no doubt Zeke had messages on his cell phone from her threatening to ruin him, but that does not mean it didn't happen.  Nor do "witnesses" who claim they saw nothing necessarily mean it didn't happen.  In her 9-1-1 call, the accuser claims the injuries occurred over a five-day period in the home.  Evidently, the police report indicates the injuries occurred during an altercation in a parked vehicle.  There were reportedly enough inconsistencies in the fact patterns to lead the prosecutor's office to decline to pursue charges.  My suspicion is this blows over without any consequences from the NFL, but it would also not surprise me too greatly if Zeke gets a suspension.  The League has been slow to act against Domestic Violence, and they face criticism for their failure to act.

Do unrelated incidents such as visiting a weed shop and injuring another driver while driving on a suspended license impact a league investigation for DV?  Probably not, but it paints a picture of a player who lacks maturity and makes poor decisions.

Is it just me or does it seem hypocritical and disingenuous of the NFL on this policy, considering that this was a brushed off story until the public and media reminded them that it was a thing, follow the Brown incident?  So now they say "oh it was never closed and is still ongoing and the gf  is cooperating". I call BS because this was a story that was completely dead and buried until the Brown thing popped up and somebody started asking what about these other guys?

The NFL is completely reactionary and is in no way actively looking at anything until it is compelled to,

It's amazing how many alerts I got on this story yesterday. Every time I got one I would get nervous about it just based in the title. But once I would go in it is always just referring to that one story where there isn't really any justification of why he would be suspended. The media sees a big name and just run with it.

I have been trying to get Morris for the last couple weeks. The problem this is causing is Morris' value is sky high because the guy in my league thinks he is getting a starter for 6 weeks at some point.

Didn't goodell fight like mad to make sure that he could hand out any punishment he wanted no matter how little sense it made? With Rodge in charge of discipline(and his trusty ouija board) it's only wise to prepare for the worst. But hey, he's driving up TV ratings...... where would the game of football be without him!?

woman goes back 4 out of 5 nights to get whupped up on by Zeke after the first night?

every time a woman is found guilty of falsely accusing, it hurts women everywhere who truly are/were abused ..... the first false accuser of Zeke, the Derrick Rose false accuser, the false accusers of Trump .... its more and more frequent, and has to be about money

Your post is ignorant as hell. You clearly have no idea what it is like to have someone you love hurt you in that way. It's not as simple as just turning around and walking out.

There are cases of women lying about it for money and unfortunately those are high profile cases and the media goes out on a limb to crucify them, thus making the public believe that most women who accuse someone are lying. The reality is that the overwhelming majority of cases are true accusations

Pretty sure you're being sarcastic with this one but on the off chance that you are not...Ratings are down across the board.

ignorant?

or maybe I've seen both sides, a wife who was abused, and having been falsely accused myself or someone I know? I agree, the % is small of falsely accused, but does that make those who ARE falsely accused less of a crime?

can you imagine tomorrow, you are accused of rape or sexual assault GABES1919 ? imagine the Duke Lacrosse guys, they lost their college, their lives and for what?

a lie

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Banks_(American_football)

If you don't know about Brian Banks. " After being falsely accused of rape by a classmate, he spent more than five years in prison, but had his conviction overturned in 2012 after his accuser was secretly recorded admitting she had fabricated the story "

Sexual assault is horrible, so is falsely being accused or sexual assault and its time we start acknowledging that too.

He'll be suspend in week 15 or so, either soon enough they miss the playoffs or late enough to disrupt team chemistry so they get bounced in the first round again. Have to keep the man down.

Don't say that out loud anymore.  Do you realize how devastating that would be for people's fantasy teams.  I'm sure the NFL will take that into account.

I saw Bob Ley on outside the lines today.  Did a whole section on the issue.  The key takeaway I got from the legal side is they wouldn't know what to do with the case because it was pre-NFL.   I don't think anything will come of it.

Link?

I am not well read on these matters, but all the locally reported cases I can recall, they dont even give the accuser's name, nor do any sort of character assassination worthy of calling it "harsh criticism."  Much less "crucifixion."
