NHL 16 - XBox 360 (1 Viewer)

Hockey-fan son wants to buy this game, we saw some mentions that it was going to be released on 360, but all we can find is the One version, and one for 360 that came out last month called 'Legacy Edition.'

You guys know more than I about this stuff, so...any thoughts?

TIA,

It is next gen consoles only. Legacy is just for the 360 and PS3...missing features and such.

I am not a video game expert, but we are going on three years in on XBox 1 being out, so it stands to reason that companies are probably going to start to not make games for the 360 going forward in some cases.

Is the Legacy basically the same, just missing a couple of the features? Most importantly, does it have the 2016 players?

Probably, some of it might be that they are hitting the end of what the 360 can do in some of these games.

Yes it has updated rosters. Not sure it's worth the 50/60 they are charging for it though. You will find this is likely the last year they do anything for the 360 though. 3 years into the XBox One.

So I can explain it to the son (who will be PO'd) what are the basic differences? It sux that they when they announced the game this spring, they said 360, but not doing it now.

The next silly question is would I be stupid to get a One? Or are they coming out with Two next week?

Not sure of the features missing, but I would expect it to be identical to the last NHL game with just updated rosters. No new features. I think NHL16 has new skating, passing and one button moves but not 100%.

Xbox One is supposed to be the platform for the next 10 years, it's out 3 so 7 more years roughly.

Cool, and if there was a 'Two' in 5-7 years, it would be a bit before the One went by way of the 360, right?

Thanks for your input. I know I can google this stuff, but some of the info just doesn't make sense! That's why you go to the FFA!

There shouldn't be another console for a long time, but if there were in 5 years I would expect the same transition of a couple of years before the one would be dead.

The NHL 16 Legacy combines popular modes from the previous NHL games and updated rosters and still carries a $59.99 price tag.

There are no new features from the main release coming to this version. Gamers often joke that EA charges $60 a year for an updated roster, and in this case it looks like the gaming company plans to try this scenario for anyone who has not yet updated to the PS4 or Xbox One.

With the NHL 16 Legacy edition gamers also get authentic schedules and gameplay modes from the best versions of NHL games from earlier in EA's run with the game.
