NHL Off-Season thread:Down goes Kane! (1 Viewer)

The Rangers defense looks like a different D when Talbot is in net. I don't know if they feel less margin of error but it is definitely apparent

they might want to try a different 5 on 3 in front of Talbot too
their pp sucks. Same as day 1They cant play a consistent 60. John Moore was a healthy scratch. I dont know what boyle was doing on that third goal. He has disapointed me when he has been healthy.

They may need to make a move or two. I don't know what, but something

Awesome comeback win by the Blues today, but they really need to shore up the leaky defense that has been a problem as of late.

Oh, and how did Ryan Miller do today? ;)

Eriksson and R.Smith had 1g,2a so Boston still wins today I guess.

Hawks offense is really starting to click. 6 straight against some of the best in the west. Best goal differential in the league. :coffee:

TSN’s Travis Yost pointed out late in Sunday’s contest that Karlsson may have posted what was the greatest advanced stats game since statistics like Corsi and Fenwick have come into widespread use. It was great in the sense that during the minutes Karlsson logged the Senators attempted 52 shots on goal. During those same minutes, the Canucks were only able to muster 17 attempts towards the Ottawa goal.

What’s more is that of those 52 attempts, 23 came off the stick of Karlsson, including the game-winning goal in overtime. For some added perspective, the next highest total on the Senators was Bobby Ryan, who had 10 attempts. To more than double the figure of his team’s star forward is an incredible feat of puck possession, not to mention that Karlsson accomplished the feat from the blueline

much of which was spent on the power play (almost 9 min), including extended time 5 on 3, and none shorthanded. also, maybe he should try hitting the net more, only 8 SOG.

best player on the ice was Zibanejad.

at even strength in that game, Karlsson's Corsi numbers were 27 for and 15 against (+12). that meant his PP numbers were 25 for and 2 against (+23).

His Fenwick numbers were 37/12 overall and 19/10 at EV. So, that left 16/2 on the PP.

Looks like 9 of the 25 PP shot attempts were blocked and 4 missed the net as there were 12 on goal.

for comparison, Bobby Ryan played about 5 minutes less at even strength and his corsi numbers were 27/13.

in terms of SOG, Sens were only +2 during Karlsson's almost 20 minutes of even strength ice time.

Don't look now but Chicago is on a 4-game win streak and showing no signs of slowing down.

#bestteamintheNHL
I like your optimism but it's a little early for that. Lol, they're still 3rd in their own division.
They've been the best team in the NHL this year. They're 4 points out of first in the league and playing better than anyone. Best GD in the league too. They dropped a couple of 1-goal games early otherwise they'd be in first overall.
The Leafs are 4 points behind the Blackhawks and lost a couple one goal games otherwise they'd be better than the Hawks?
Child please.
Still chirping about this?

greatest game ever

So apparently the billionaire that controls the parent corp that owns a huge chunk of the company I work for is behind the Vegas push.

Bettman says potential Vegas owner Bill Foley has been given the green light to generate season-ticket drive to see what interest there is

A week ago, it was a cute little story that Buffalo forward Zemgus Girgensons had all of Latvia voting for him for the NHL All-Star Game. He was the NHL's leading vote getter, but not by a lot 399,356 to P.K. Subban's 240,362. At that time it seemed like the law of averages would prevail and Girgensons would fall back to the pack.

Not the case, oh not at all. The league announced the newest totals with Girgensons holding a 803,805 to 375,758 advantage over Chicago's Patrick Kane after three weeks of voting.

Wasn't Rory Fitzpatrick or some similar journeyman plug the leading vote-getter for a while a couple of years back? All-Star voting is weird.

WTH - Sabres playing for McDavid or playoffs? Now won 10 of last 11 vs LA at home. Is interesting that many of the teams they've beaten during recent streak they have great records against - Tor, Mtl, SJ, LA.
