NHL Off-Season thread:Down goes Kane! (2 Viewers)

BTW, if Sweden ever played Denmark in Denmark, the scoreboard would read:

SWE-DEN and the remaining letters would spell DEN MARK.

Had a great time at Nats park yesterday.NHL and Leonsis did a good job putting together an event that was well worth the price of admission even though the ref work was overall not that great. The call late on Toews was complete garbage but it clearly was a makeup call from the Niskanen call earlier that was also very suspect but still no excuse to make the call that late with 2 points riding on the line.

Got to talk to Rod Langway for a bit,met Jeremy Roenick and Craig Laughlin for a quick second and met some real classy Hawks fans who were in attendance and also saw some decent hockey.I also had no idea Billy Idol was still alive(and sucking)and who Lee Greenwood was until he started singing "I'm Proud To Be An American"(which was great, crowd was loving it).

Glad I got the chance to check it out and would do it again in a heartbeat.Great atmosphere and good friends=fun by all.

ETA:Should be a great 10 days of hockey for me.Seeing the WC yesterday and going to Montreal next weekend for another game.I was more stoked to see the Habs game but it's gonna have a tough time beating yesterday for entertainment value.
This is crazy.....gigapixel image from the game. Zoom in to the topmost row and it's insanely clear

Tom22406....where are you?

Malkin and Adams had some type of altercation in the morning skate, Adams was bloodied in the jaw area and wore a shield tonight.

Sid with 4 assists tonight. Pens continue to dominate TB in PGH.

Section 134,I'm the guy wearing the Caps jersey.

Looks pretty cool though, will check it out later to see if I can find my group.

I keep expecting Nashville to just fade away but it looks as though they are legit this year.

Entertaining game with them and the Kings going on right now.

Toews, Kane, Keith, Seabrook and Crawford are 5/6 of the first team all stars. Girgensons from Buffalo was the other.

Giroux carried off the ice with what appears to a serious lower leg/ankle cut after being hit with a skate.

Not a serious cut and somehow he's possible to play tomorrow night. Phew. Looked a whole helluva lot worse seeing them rush him off the ice they way they did.
Oof Flyers look terrible. Thankfully this cut wasn't bad. For a second, the Flyers looked to be in the McDavid/Eichel sweepstakes. Unfortunately, it appears they'll be just good enough to avoid the bottom. I suppose this team could collapse down the stretch especially if they trade some of their veteran d-men ( :lmao: why anyone would want Schultz or Coburn).

And hopefully we'll get to see who the Flyers can get behind the bench. I don't mind the Chief but he never struck me as a head coach. Heard the rumor that Bylsma was holding out for the Flyers gig which would make for some more fun in that rivalry.

What happened with the Kings?

Perron gets the Pens first goal tonight as they lose to the Habs.

Pens showing the Steeler game on the jumbotron after the game and keeping the concession stands open is pretty awesome.

Unlikely? He was called up already.
Yeah I saw that, hope he does ok but I don't think he's even close to being ready.
I think he could do better in the NHL than in the AHL.
Lot of guys who watch him in the AHL think he's not close, especially since he's not going to be good in the bottom 6 role. Would rather have seen McNeil or even Hartman.
While I agree with Rud on this one, I understand what you are saying - especially with Hartman. Teuvo has been on a mini tear as of late though.

For awhile, I was wondering if we would ever be discussing McNeil. Glad he's working his way into the discussion.

Teuvo sounds like he's made some strides at Rockford recently

http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/blackhawks/post/_/id/4686712/teravainen-more-prepared-for-nhl-after-ahl-stint

"He's in a better spot than he was at the beginning of the season with his game," IceHogs coach Ted Dent said Friday. "I think everyone's agreed he's making strides in the right direction and has gotten better over the last month. He's played at a higher level.
this is what they were saying about him a month ago:

Not being in the NHL is part of Teravainen’s frustration, but another part is the style of most AHL games. Teravainen thrives on puck possession and offensive skill, and the AHL isn’t always the best canvas for that.

Would be shocked if moves into the top 6 on the Hawks, more like 3rd line or 4th line and the 3rd line is often out against the oppositions 1st line. If he can't play defense, which is what the biggest knock on him is, he won't stick for long.

Honestly the Hawks don't need another Kane, Teuvo is Kane light by a wide margin, and I just don't see a fit in the bottom 6  There is no way Sharp doesn't move up on the Kane line IMO.

After another weak Dallas goal . . . KANE!
My son was disgusted with me when I told him that I voted for Darling instead of CC in the all star game. I truly believe that CC is an average NHL goalie at best.
Before his ankle injury I would disagree and in the playoffs last year he stole that Wild series. Right now he's average at best, poor starts and then locking it down. I do have a bit of a man-crush on Darling though, he has the potential to be very very good.
