I don't think there was really any doubt before this week, but McDavid is going #1. The passes he's made tonight are unreal.
What about Raanta?Hawks64 said:Before his ankle injury I would disagree and in the playoffs last year he stole that Wild series. Right now he's average at best, poor starts and then locking it down. big wins for our Oilers and Canes today.Sabres getting back on the tankwagon.

Come on OILERS!
Yeah he just seems to be a notch above Eichel.Northern Voice said:I don't think there was really any doubt before this week, but McDavid is going #1. The passes he's made tonight are unreal.
worst effort I've seen in two seasons. everyone whining about goaltending. IMO that's the least of their worries. team in front of the net has been below average for a month now. Saturday night they didn't even show up. the team in October and most of November better resurface quick, this week would be ideal since they play some of the games in hand with 4 Tuesday-Sunday against SJ, NSH, and CHI twice.MIN
WTF?
+1I've always preferred nhlnumbers personally but capgeek has some cool features. Hope he's alright. Sucks losing good websites.Yeah, seems to be lots of concern out there from twitter people who actually know him.nhlnumbers.com runs a similar site for those looking for replacement.Hope he's ok.
Not that I have ever found.does nhl numbers have the feature where you can edit/add free agents and build your own roster?
no. that's one of the features capgeek added which made it cool.does nhl numbers have the feature where you can edit/add free agents and build your own roster?
IMO Darling is the better goalie now and has the better potential. Much better rebound control than Raanta. Rundbland is good but he's no TVRWhat about Raanta?Hawks64 said:Before his ankle injury I would disagree and in the playoffs last year he stole that Wild series. Count me in the somewhat disappointed in Crawford camp. At least at this point in time.
On a tangent, 6 games in a row I believe for Rundblad and he's looking pretty good.
Oof, tough stretch. You guys are in trouble, but there's a lot of season left.worst effort I've seen in two seasons. everyone whining about goaltending. WTF?
no goals since 12/13. only 1 point since then.has Bonino even scored a goal since we declared him the big winner of the great Kesler deal? I bet he's still getting sheltered minutes too. weird.
+1Now this is awesome. Gonna be a hell of a third period.
Wilbur is easily one of the most knowledgeable hockey men in Toronto making him one of the best in the world.(crack on our city all you want but it is the center of the hockey universe and we have interns at local tv stations that know more about hockey and the nhl than most "hockey guys" in US media. Pity our team is an enigma and the organization is horribly flawed)I was listening to the NHL channel on Sirius XM on the way in to work and the phone guest was Bill Watters, I know he used to work in the Leafs front office, but he absolutely skewered Kessel in the segment I heard. Said both management and the team president approached Kessel about possibly moving to LW and Kessel refused to even consider it. Also said Kessel was sucking wind on the bench the other night after his penalty shot in Boston, and intimated that the Leafs would never win anything as long as they try to build their team around him.
Scores goals, though.
Only team that could beat them in a 7 game series would be the 70's Flyers. And it would be over in two games since the Ruskies would go home after 2.Im reading about the Red Army movie coming out.
Im no historian and you guys have a ton of knowledge. Would those Soviet teams wreck the great NHL teams (oilers, islanders, habs) or do the NHL teams take them.
Talking 7 game series. Obviously they can be had in one game
Carlyle played him 25 minutes on Friday night, the first game of back to backs. The Leafs preached all offseason spreading ice time and playing all 4 lines more. Maybe #1 reason Carlyle is finally gone.I was listening to the NHL channel on Sirius XM on the way in to work and the phone guest was Bill Watters, I know he used to work in the Leafs front office, but he absolutely skewered Kessel in the segment I heard. It will be very interesting to see what direction management goes here. One would think given the metrics of the team they have to be seriously considering a firesale of some sorts because it clearly wasn't working with the pieces they have now.Carlyle played him 25 minutes on Friday night, the first game of back to backs. Kessel is awesome, Leafs still need a #1 centre, (and Phaneuf is good too but they still need a #1 defenceman) like they have for several years. Kessel is Patrick Kane, who's a great player but likely doesn't have the cups he does without Toews/Keith/Seabrook etc...
Carlyle tanked Anaheims possession as well, that's why they have to get rid of Carlyle, give it some time and then if needed do the fire sale. Mike Keenan is available.Dammit. Was more fun with him around. Hope they don't hire anybody good.
GWG in last 2 championships scored by a Sabre prospect - last year Ristolainen, last night Reinhart.Good game. Great effort from Russia after a rough start.
Congrats Canada.
Man, it would be so awesome to get Reinhart and McDavid on the Sabres next year.
Step one in getting Babcock, IMO.Dammit. Was more fun with him around. Hope they don't hire anybody good.
The faceoffs and his presence on the team are huge factors in the Ducks success so far. The Ducks historically (except when Oates played) have been a very bad FO team. The faceoff success this year is one of the main reasons I think they are winning so many one goal games. A few more chances when needed on offense and a few more puck possessions late in the game.Aaron Rudnicki said:no goals since 12/13. only 1 point since then.Bill Brasky said:has Bonino even scored a goal since we declared him the big winner of the great Kesler deal? meanwhile, Kesler has a primary assist on a short-handed goal, an OT goal, and 3 more points in that time span.
http://www.hockey-reference.com/players/k/keslery01/scoring/2015/
he's also winning over 55% of his faceoffs and ranks 4th overall in faceoff draws won this year (behind Giroux, Bergeron, and the amazing Tyler Bozak).
What Watters was saying was that Kessel appears to be the problem, or at least a very big part of it. Apparently he went to Carlyle and requested the increase in playing time, and Carlyle obviously obliged.
