Canadiens sign forward Brendan Gallagher to a six-year contract extension
Awesome. If he keeps it up, he can break into the top 20 in save percentage.Tarasenko last night...again.
Eh, I expected something cool. Not something I have seen the likes of Daniel Carcillo do.
Was the right call even if they missed it at first. Will the NHL ever ask its refs to punish the play and not the result? Game killing call in St. Paul.

Well, I don't want to get into a debate over this since I know how those conversations devolve, but I think if that's 5 and a game then so is Scandella's hit.Was the right call even if they missed it at first. Will the NHL ever ask its refs to punish the play and not the result? Scandella hit could deserve it too and they probably call it if Oshie is left on the ice. Still got 2 minutes. Not really the point though, Shattenkirk hit was worthy of a major and got one even if the arms didn't go up initially, no?Well, I don't want to get into a debate over this since I know how those conversations devolve, but I think if that's 5 and a game then so is Scandella's hit.Was the right call even if they missed it at first. Will the NHL ever ask its refs to punish the play and not the result? Whatever, the Blues were playing poorly enough that I don't think they were going to win regardless. Not that big of a deal this point in the season.
I don't think it was worthy at all. You think every board is worthy of 5 and a game? Anyway, my last post on the topic. We'll just have to agree to disagree. Your Wild looks very good... must feel good to have all those young players locked up. Should be a good battle this season!Scandella hit could deserve it too and they probably call it if Oshie is left on the ice. No hard feelings for Lavy. Wish him well. It was just time for a change. Nobody is winning anything with the mess the Flyers are in now.Gotta sting just a little seeing Lavy doing so well with the Preds(much like Forsberg isThey should watch the Flyers.Sabres need a lesson in tanking).
Yup, you got me. All boardings should be 5 min majors. How'd you know?I don't think it was worthy at all. You think every board is worthy of 5 and a game? Anyway, my last post on the topic. Its More Miller and rolling 4 lines that has Van winning. The offense is better because its not just the Sedins who are carrying the mail. Miller is their MVP right now and the entire team knows it.![]()
Plenty of us took the Blues offense to task last year for not scoring enough in the playoffs, even while we were ragging on Miller for the many soft goals he let in.
And I said offense was the MAIN reason the canucks are winning, not the only reason.
It helps to read what I wrote.![]()

The Kessel/Seguin debate is over, as the Seguin/Eriksson trade rendered it irrelevant. And the Seguin/Eriksson debate is over as quickly as it started. Seguin is a cautionary tale. Don’t give up on elite young talents too soon, as they’re far easier to give away than to get. If you do, you end up 24 games into a season without a six-goal scorer. Yep, if you took Boston’s leading goal scorer and tripled his total, he’d have three fewer goals than Seguin.
Forget Toronto. Its time to troll Boston for the Tyler Seguin trade.

BOSTON 25 14 10 1 29 12 63 61 +2 9-5-1 5-5-0 2-0 5-4-1 LOST 1 6
DALLAS 24 9 10 5 23 8 70 84 -14 4-5-5 5-5-0 1-1 5-4-1 LOST 1
Only the Oilers (87) have allowed more goals this season than the Stars (Jackets also have allowed 84).
And other than Seguin and Jamie Benn (8), no one else in Dallas has more than 5 goals either.
But hey, as long as you're scoring goals and completely ignoring the other end of the ice (and being a complete locker room cancer, but we don't need to get into that any more), all is well in the world.![]()

I don't think they were as happy with the returns but wrote off Thornton as a playoff choker. IIRC, getting rid of his salary helped them sign Chara (and Savard).did Bruin fan do this with the Joe Thornton trade too? that's too long ago for me to remember.

His 5v5 Corsi that year was 20.6 while Bergeron's was 19.3Even during his down 2012-13 year, after which he was traded, Boston would’ve seen a boom coming if it checked the analytics. Per behindthenet.ca, Seguin’s relative Corsi (Corsi relative to the rest of his team) was the eighth-best mark in the NHL.
1st game, Rangers only put 16 shots on net and he saved 15 of them. Meanwhile, Bolts put up 5 goals themselves.Ben Bishop owns the Rangers.
Think he's 9-0 against them.1st game, Rangers only put 16 shots on net and he saved 15 of them. Meanwhile, Bolts put up 5 goals themselves.2nd game, Rangers only put 19 shots on net and he saved 16 of them. Bolts scored 4.Ben Bishop owns the Rangers.
3rd game, Rangers put 35 shots on net and he saved 32 of them. Bolts scored 6.
Bolts scored 15 goals in 3 games. Not sure how much that has to do with Bishop making 63 saves on 70 shots.(.900 SV%).
that's impressive, and his numbers in previous years look great against them.Think he's 9-0 against them.1st game, Rangers only put 16 shots on net and he saved 15 of them. It's possible, yes.that's impressive, and his numbers in previous years look great against them. But, I'm pretty sure his own team scoring 5 goals/game this year played a bigger role.Think he's 9-0 against them.1st game, Rangers only put 16 shots on net and he saved 15 of them. When you throw in the picks it's pretty lopsided.Bolts fans probably not too upset with the Marty trade at this point.
Callahan has 11 goals and 21 points in 20 games.
St Louis has 10 goals and 20 points in 24 games.
Thank Marty St. Louis for demanding a trade

Has Brodeur really been known for his mentoring? I never got the impression that he was a great mentor.Blues are signing Martin Brodeur today to be Jake Allen's backup while Brian Elliott is on the mend.
The benefit will not be in the games he plays, but the mentoring he'll give Allen while he's here, IMO.
Edit: I guess it's done. 1 year, 700k including bonuses, per Blues beat writer Jeremy Rutherford
