NHL Off-Season thread:Down goes Kane! (1 Viewer)

Anyone have a podcast to recommend? Searched and last I saw this question asked was about a year and a half ago without a response, and beyond that it's pretty stale. With football done, that leaves a lot of listening time free and I'd like to start catching up on what's been going on around the league. The only one I've listened to before is Marek vs Wyshynski and it's a little too much "two guys bull####ting" for me. Looking for something more along the lines of what Grantland does with the NBA (Lowe) and NFL (Mays/Barnwell).

Much needed come back from down 0-2 win for the Isles last night to snap a 3 game skid.

Don't remember Matt Martin ever losing a fight but it looked like White broke his nose in a first period scrap.

Caps win their 2nd game of the year when not scoring the 1st goal of the game.

Holtby has been on fire the last 4 just giving up 1 regulation goal in those games with 2 shutouts,Ovie ties Nash with his 32nd as well.

Looked like mostly side of the head shots. I was surprised when he came out of it so bloody.

The Eastern divisions are really tight headed into the last 30 games of the season.

Atlantic has 3 teams seperated by 4 points and all 4 only by 10,Metro has the top 4 all within 3 points of each other.

In the West the Preds and Blues are 8 clear of 3rd in the Central and the Ducks have basically almost clinched the Pacific.

nice before and after shot here

Rumors are the Ducks are interested in Tyler Myers.

EDIT: Cam Fowler plus something else seems to be one possibility.

I think this will be okay assuming it's just a month of course. Hank was going to have a busy February and this will hopefully keep him fresher for a playoff run. Talbot can keep the team afloat.
I think he will be fine as well. Could also act as a nice showcase in case they want to move him next year

JFC. A buddy of mine just threw out the name of a potential available backup and I wanted to smack him in the face.

It would depend on if certain retirement papers have been processed...

Kings are in serious danger of missing the playoffs after looking like a potential dynasty last summer.

5 points out of the last Wild Card spot with 30 games to play, but they are competing with a bunch of teams. 2-5-3 in their last 10 and lost 3 in a row.

Feels like they need to make a move. They are an abysmal 5-12-16 on the road this year and 1-7 in shootouts.

We'll give you Emery for 3 rolls of tape and a case of Peroni.

wasn't Ranger fan in here last year wondering if they should let Hank walk and go with Talbot?

they should be fine. they just need to skate faster.

He's a good guy so I won't out him. :hifive:

And come on, physics are still at play here...we all know the only way they can go any faster is if they shift into LUDICROUS SPEED.

Sounds like Grubauer will be in the nets tonight for the Caps, they also sent Burakovsky back down to Hershey.

Hopefully Grubauer stays and they dump Peters who has been horrendous.

Kimmo Timonen permitted to resume skating today after being diagnosed with life threatening blood clots over the summer. It was assumed he would retire but he's determined to go out on his terms. If he can't play he said he won't, but he wants to be able to decide it on the ice. The blood clots are chronic, meaning they are still in his legs but was told they won't travel so he'll be playing with them if he can. Good luck to him and hope he gets moved to a playoff team for one more run. One of the steadier defenseman I've ever seen. Nothing flashy, just gets it done and a really good PP quarterback.
rumor is back to Nashville

@TBTimes_JSmith: #TBLightning has acquired Carter Ashton and David Broll from Toronto in exchange for a conditional 7th rd pick in 2016.

Any good? I assume not based on the return.

Ashton was a 1st round pick of Tampa in 2009. Seems like more of an AHL guy at this point but he can provide 4th line depth.

Broll is a clear minor leaguer.

Eight shutouts for MAF this season. Most by a Pens goalie for a single season. Also the first Pens goalie to get back to back shutouts on the road. Sid gets 2 and Perron is looking great playing on his wing.

The Kings came playing tonight. Jumping out 3_0 in the first.

Just a couple of Hawks fans in STL today
I don't know if the fans in STL are cheapasses or just not investing in this team because they've been teased and disappointed so many times before. Maybe a bit of both. Seems like STL fans won't support anything besides the Cards anymore.

Hogwash. Blues games are always packed now. There being a lot of Hawks fans there today doesn't mean much. It's not like it was a playoff game. Tickets are not cheap these days, and not everyone has big bucks to spend on one of 41 regular season home games, especially one that early on a Sunday.

Tarasenko and Schwartz get the first and third stars in the STL loss. I know it doesn't really mean anything but this kind of thing shows what a joke the Three Stars is. Time for a change--homer reporters shouldn't be allowed to vote.
