Detroit Lions defensive tackle Nick Fairley was arrested early this morning for driving under the influence and attempting to elude police ... TMZ has learned.

Fairley was popped in Mobile, AL just after 1:00 AM. In addition to the DUI and eluding charges, Fairley was ticketed for reckless driving, no proof of insurance and having an open container.

Fairley is from the area, having gone to Williamson High School and he attended Auburn University.

It's Fairley second bust in just over a month -- he was arrested on April 3 for marijuana possession.

#######!!!!

If the lions go easy on him I lose a load of respect for Schwartz and Mayhew.

Preempt the league and suspend him for the year.

Year? No. But 8. I could see that.
Suh got 2 games for stomping on a guy (his 5th on-field incident). Haynesworth got 5 for stomping on a guy's unhelmeted head. Marshall has had a dozen encounters with the police, and has gotten a grand total of 3 games (which he appealed down to 1). Jackson got 3 games for a pair of DUIs and a driving on a suspended license. Brian Cushing got 4 games for failing a test for PEDs. Cedric Benson got arrested for boating under the influence, driving under the influence, resisting arrest, assaulting a bartender, and assault causing bodily injury to a family member- a charge that landed him 20 days in the clink. For all of that he got suspended for a grand total of... one game.If Fairley gets 8 games for this, the league needs to seriously reevaluate its priorities.

The Lions have made constant headlines for all the wrong reasons this offseason.

Along with Fairley's two arrests, running back Mikel Leshoure was cited twice for possession of marijuana in Berrien County and offensive tackle Johnny Culbreath was arrested in South Carolina for possession of marijuana.

Receiver Titus Young also has not been allowed at the Lions' organized team activities since he sucker-punched Louis Delmas at a workout earlier this month.

Wow I missed that bit of news. Let's be real, teams often take the personality of their coaches. I'm not saying Schwartz is a criminal or anything, but I've seen things from him that aren't exactly mature. Getting all into it with Dez Bryant on the sideline, the whole handshake incident and even earlier in the game how he was reportedly mocking Harbaugh for "not knowing the rules." (Link)Schwartz just has a very confrontative nature about him. He's not the most disciplined of coaches, and I don't expect his team to be either.

For that matter, wasn't he the DC for Tennessee in 2006 when Haynesworth went all riverdance on Andre Gurode?

No insurance. :lmao:
Seriously. Getting drunk and leading cops on a high-speed chase is one thing, but doing it without insurance is borderline irresponsible.
The only thing I saw was that he failed to present proof of insurance, not that he did not have any. I personally have forgotten to throw my insurance card in my car at times, and have had to present it to the judge in one speeding ticket I got. It could be as simple as that, as if a millionaire declines to get something as simple an inexpensive as auto insurance, then it says something about their level of intelligence...

Since when is it inexpensive to have auto insurance in your early 20's on a Cadillac Escalade? With that being said, the fool should have called a friend or a cab. He's lucky he didn't end up pulling a Donte Stallworth.

Since he became a millionaire.
