Nicks has swelling in knee (1 Viewer)

Victor Cruz alert.

News: Giants WR Hakeem Nicks wasn't practicing Thursday and coach Tom Coughlin revealed the receiver has swelling in his knee. However, Coughlin feels Nicks will play Week 4 at Arizona.

Analysis: Nicks dealt with a bruised knee leading up to Week 2 against the Rams and played, but late-week injuries are always concerning. Friday will be a big day for Nicks, so make sure to check back on his progress. Mario Manningham is expected to return Sunday, but if Nicks can't play, then the Giants surely have confidence in Victor Cruz after his breakout performance Week 3. If Nicks plays, then obviously he is a high-end Fantasy WR.

same sh_t, different week. I think he's proven he can play well hurt, so it would take a lot for me to bench him.

This injury is starting to worry me. its the same thing they had a MRI done on after week 1.I never like it when its a knee injury no matter what kind.

No doubt, we might have 16 of these threads if people don't start figuring out he always has something, but plays if he says he's a go.

"But after practice Thursday, the wide receiver said the knee is not a concern. He is not expecting to need regular days off from practice, either."

seems minor to me

If I knew it would help him overall, I'd wish they would sit him for a week and let things calm down a little with his knee. But if doctors say that a week or two wouldn't help all that much,

then you may as well go out there and just treat it after every game.

fwiw thanks to 2ksports for compiling this a few weeks back a look at other weeks he was que.

i think i remember that ankle game. it was a night game and the giants were beaten and nicks was hardly on the field or being targeted. inexplicably, with like a minute left, he catches like a 28 yard garbage time td.

We often overreact to swelling in the knee and it's more common than it would seem.

When a player is first hurt, then initially it's an indicator of something. After that point, (surgery, hard workout, game) it's fairly normal for a knee to swell.

Nicks is the SJAX of WRs.

Always has something going on, always seems to play, usually does pretty good. But an ankle is not a knee and an ailing knee on a WR is worth watching on a WR (not saying it is chronic but it has been mentioned for a few weeks now so if nothing else, threads like these are helpful to look at later to get a better idea of how long this has been going on).

per Rotoworld (italics is their spin):

Hakeem Nicks (knee) is listed as probable for Week 4 after returning to a full practice Friday.

He's in no danger of missing Sunday's game. The Cardinals' pass "defense" is getting absolutely shredded by even halfway capable passing attacks, so Nicks should be considered a locked-and-loaded WR1 despite a two-game slump.

:blackdot:

I know that Cruz was considered waiver wire "fools gold" and he got his long TD's on busted coverage and poor tackling. But I think he's worth a preemptive pickup as I trust neither Nicks nor Manningham's health. He's still available on waiver wires for free, and there are always low ceiling bench foddder guys that can be cut to make room for a speculatory stash and hope guy like Cruz.
