No Man's Sky - New Video Game Being Developed (1 Viewer)

Honestly looks boring to me. Bigger doesn't mean better.
That's fair. I don't think it's a game everyone will enjoy. But I've been wanting a game like this my whole life. Literally. To be able to explore an infinite universe sounds amazing to me.

What do you actually do in this game? Many games have large universes (Eve online, Starbound, etc.) but a lot have that at the cost of poor gameplay. The concept sounds awesome, but then you visit 10-20 planets and it's boring.

Impressions from someone at E3

The No Man's Sky exhibition at E3 was pretty underwhelming. You zoom around a huge galaxy, visiting these unknown and lush procedurally generated worlds and... that's about it. I'm sure it's technically very impressive and I'd love to see what's going on under the hood, but as an actual game it seems oddly barren and devoid of things to do. I feel like after your ninth or tenth planet things would start to look very samey.
One day someone will make a good game around one of these huge universes and it will be awesome.

As I said, I don't think this game is for everyone.

But there are people out there like me who will enjoy this immensely. I can't wait for this to be released.

This game looks pretty cool, but that many planets is way too many for just one person to enjoy. If someone could explore a planet per second, in order to explore them all would take half a trillion years. It would probably be better to make smaller systems of planets and stars and code variables for each scenario a person starts.

The idea isn't for one person to explore them all.

Each player starts at different points. They said that most players will never run into each other. The goal is to get to the center of the universe, and the closer you get, the more likely you'll run into other players.

So it's got a little Spore to it. I like the graphics that go for more color than true realism of every crack and level to a blade of grass - looks almost like a comic book.

I couldn't tell - is this going to be solely online play? It appears that way since whatever you discover might have already been discovered by someone else.

Looking forward to this. IMO, exploration IS the thing to do.
Exactly. I guess if you actually encounter another player it's considered sort of a bonus?

What's the interaction once you run into other players?

What any other space explorer would upon meeting another, kill then t-bag them.

This is pretty much what I was hoping "Spore" would be.

Really can't believe no one has given a nod to that game.

I'll definitely consider PS4 for this game alone.

I'm talking about these developers and IGN. How can you see this game and not mention Spore in the first couple sentences?

ah, gotcha. Yeah, it's the first thing I thought of. The space part of Spore is huge but not huge enough.

I'd so pwn you.

I watched those a couple of times before they were pulled and besides the poor narration, it was pretty cool watching someone discover their planet instead of demoing it. It was also funny because he was going places and doing things you might not go/do.

I personally don't think it "spoiled" anything - most of what he discovered was just a different instance of something else officially demoed. He learned an alien word, scanned and "discovered" a creature and then fed it, mined some different resources and used them on his ship and weapon, etc. I'm sure it will keep popping up here and there - it's worth a watch imo.

Here it is while it lasts
