This would be my guess as well.Probably because they don't want a team complaining about playing on Monday night and then again on Saturday (Wild Card game)
also they have plenty of Bowl games to take its place.Probably because they don't want a team complaining about playing on Monday night and then again on Saturday (Wild Card game)
This is right. The Thursday night season opener takes Week 17's game. They only get 17 games.Hasn't been one in years. ESPN gets the week 1 doubleheader to make up for it.
I think the thursday nite opener is on NBCThis is right. The Thursday night season opener takes Week 17's game. They only get 17 games.Hasn't been one in years. ESPN gets the week 1 doubleheader to make up for it.
No, he is referring to the MNF double header in Week 1. Well, at least no more Kornheiser on Monday nights after the upcoming game. Maybe he will get the boot before 2009.I think the thursday nite opener is on NBCThis is right. The Thursday night season opener takes Week 17's game. They only get 17 games.Hasn't been one in years. There will be a Sunday Night game -- they just don't "flex" it until after Sunday on Week 16 to make sure they get the best possible matchup.I'm looking Cowboys-Eagles or Dolphins-JetsAlso note that there is NO SUNDAY NIGHT game!Additionally, there are only 3 Sunday afternoon games:SEA @ AZ 4:15DEN
I amended some of my previous post.but IMO, I think it's wrong to have a SNF game on that night. I'd rather see all teams (or almost all teams) play at the same time so there isn't an advantage / or disadvantage to ANY TEAM.There will be a Sunday Night game -- they just don't "flex" it until after Sunday on Week 16 to make sure they get the best possible matchup.I'm looking Cowboys-Eagles or Dolphins-Jets
Atricle on NFL.com today noted that the flex had already cost Fox more games than it had cost CBS, so Fins-Jets remains the more likely matchup, assuming it has playoff implications.
Yep, there is no doubt that is the reason, and that makes a lot of senseProbably because they don't want a team complaining about playing on Monday night and then again on Saturday (Wild Card game)
My guess is Jets/Dolphins. Battle of 2 teams that had a combined 5 wins I believe last year battling it out for the division title. Minny/NYG and Philly/Dal will probably be flexed to 4:15 games too.
