NO To TO from Eagles (1 Viewer)

Im done explaining why I back TO.  I brought new information to the table regarding other Eagle contract talks as well as why TO will what to start the season on the field.

Please stop fishing here
The "new information" you brought to day is a poll from a Eagles message board, and some conjecture. It's not a news article, not an inside tip, not information from Owens or his agent or from the Eagles front office or players. It's the kind of information that gets discussed and challenged here in every other thread. Terrell Owens threads aren't immune from it. It's not "fishing". It's "discussion" and "differing opinions".
Maybe you didnt catch the news I mentioned. Brian Westbrook fired his agent and hired the same agent as DMac. Radio station is reporting on a contact that looks to be happening, 4-5 year deal.I even said the other information was conjecture. The Eagles poll was to conterpoint macdaddy's polls from oh so long ago.

Im not trying to change anyones mind, just bring information to that table as well as what looks like a far from common opinion.

Not exactly true.  I dont want to give TO more money than he is currently due.  I want to give TO more money this year he is due next year because it makes sense for TO and the Phi FO.  I do not support TO getting more money than his total contract value, nor is that what TO wants.
Has he or his agent ever come out said what they want? I've only heard that they want to "renegotiate." Giving him more money this year out of next year's money makes no sense for the Eagles FO except in as much as it would appease TO.
This has always been the talk from the beginning. TO and Drew have always said "this season, TO is scheduled to make XYZ dollars". There had been talk of it even before TO fired his agent. When the media got a hold of TOs new agent, Devil Rosenhous, it all went down hill.

What is TOs cap hit this season compared to next season?

The Eagles have cap space and flexibilty in both years so that's really irrelevant. Those timing issues (if there are any) can be solved by giving more in signing bonuses than roster bonuses (or vice-versa) on new contracts they give out. The Eagles have another year to decide whether TO's exploits on the field are worth his antics off the field before shelling out more bonus money. Giving up that opportunity, especially in light of recent developments, makes no sense.

I understand your feelings EE. I am surprised at all the people that want to throw TO under the bus. For what? Two sentences and not coming to mini-camps?

Here we go again...but the Eagle purchased the right to those options with the big bonus. TO sold those options to the Eagles and cashed the big check. He understood, or at least should have, that he was giving the Eagles the right to not excerize those options for any reason. As a businessman, I don't appreciate him not honoring his contract. As an Eagles fan, I'm f'n pizzed off.
No they didn't. Both parties are holders of the right to renegotiate. If TO holds out the club can require him to turn over a portion of his signing bonus, sort of a payment to renegotiate. So both are holders, its just a matter of whether the Eagles will require Owens to pay for the right. In reality both sides signed seven one-year contracts with the option to renegotiate each year part of or the entire contract at any time either party deemed appropriate. When one side wishes to negotiate and the other side doesn't that when there's a problem. If the player wishes to negotiate and the team doesn't his recourse is to hold out. If the team wishes to negotiate and the player doesn't the recourse is to release the player. When both parties wish to negotiate there is an extension.

Let's see, you claimed I wrong fishing...wrong, you claimed I wrong trolling...wrong and now backtracking...wrong again.

My response was to this:

Im going to through out some conjecture.

TO pulls a Westbrook. Fires Drew, hires DMac's agent and the Eagles and TO agree to terms.

PTI talked about this last week.

Top 3 reasons TO will start the season opener as an Eagle:

3. Mon., Sept. 12 @Falcons 9 p.m. ABC*

Monday night football. First game of the season at Atlanta as a rematch of the NFCCG. TV cameras are on, spotlight will have two targets, Vick and Owens. If TO is the spotlight hunter everyone says he is, no way he misses this opportunity.

2. Sun., Sept. 18 49ers 1 p.m. FOX

Week 3 versus his old nemesis the 49ers FO. TO has nothing against the new coaches, or the players. However, TO is going to want to make a statement againast the front office that tried to screw him out of his Free Agency. TO will want to show everyone that SF was wrong and how much they lost when he left.

1. Sun., Sept. 25 Raiders 1 p.m. CBS

Two words: Randy Moss

Which is the better WR in the NFL? We all know who each of them thinks are the best, this will give them each the same stage to prove who is better. Cant see TO missing this one.

JAA,

Let me first say, I usually respect what you bring to this board. They are usually well thought out and insightful. I'd like to know why you support this rat. But the real reason TO will be there is simply this........he realized that he made a mistake in challenging both McNabb (the true leader of that team) and the Eagles organization.

So, out of desperation to redeem what ever respect he had prior to this failed attempt to to hold the Philly organization hostage by telling the world that he is the victim. He will fire his agent, showup for the season, only to cause more problems. I just don't get it.
No reason for me to backtrack, you took one sentence out of two paragraphs, to pull out your red herring.Oh if you want a real sig bet, here you go the Mighty Eagles won't make it back to the Super Bowl. Now let me go before you accuse me of something else. Have a good weekend.

Wrong. Its "sort of a payment" for breach of contract. If the Eagles can require him to pay back some of the bonus for not showing up, how can you argue that TO has a contractual right to renegotiate?

They really didn't, snot. TO committed to the Eagles at the numbers specified in the contract until the point where the Eagle decide they want out. You're talking about negotiating strategy, not the contract.

:lmao: at your bolded comments being a question

Be careful how you use the word "contract." A contract is binding on both parties. If the Eagles can opt out at anytime, then what the Eagles and TO have signed are a series of one-year contracts.

TO doesn't have a contractual right to renegotiate, he just has a right to renegotiate. His right to renegotiate can be exercised at anytime he deems fit. The way NFL contracts are structured, holding out is the only way that TO can effectively use any leverage (or lack thereof). See Mike McKenzie.QUESTION: Why could the Eagles "sue" for "breach of contract" and TO can't?ANSWER: Because the Eagles and TO have signed what amounts to seven one-year contracts and part of the first year money obligates him to attend training camp prior to season two.
