Non QB MVP (1 Viewer)

Nick Bosa
18.5 sacks and so much more he brings
His team is in the NFCC again, 3rd time in 4 years since he's been drafted?
Wish we had a Nick in Miami, instead we just got a Chubb

I think I'd say Sauce.
I think he's possibly the best rookie CB ever so his impact on D is obvious.
The Jets did not look all that good at times (ol Jets) on offense and the other team couldn't utilize their top WR, so they'd get another crack at being a good offense....over n over til things clicked. Not to discredit the other defenders, it just seemed ....you've seen the Jets before. They had so much growth and I think he's a big part of that.

I remember Watt on some bad Texans teams and Donald on some lesser Rams teams or Ramsey on the lesser Jags. Sauce had that kind of impact in my opinion.

More traditional- Austin Ekeler.
The Chargers had so many skill position injuries and he was often the focus of the D and somehow he got it done over n over.

I didn't think he was *that* good by himself but...geesh he was spectacular many weeks in 2022.

It's difficult to not say Jefferson as I can't imagine the Minnesota offense being anywhere near as good without him. You would need to swap him with another top 3-5 WR like Davante, Kupp, J'marr, maybe Tyreek to see the same production from that offense. I don't see it with guys like even great players like Diggs, AJ, CeeDee etc.

I can see the argument for Kelce but after what Mahomes did without Tyreek, it's difficult to imagine the Chiefs not still being amazing if you subbed Kelce with, another good, but not great, player at the position like Goedert, Engram, Njoku maybe even Schultz.

Agree but it's funny, he was bust of the year in week 2 or 3 in his thread. I think people were even complaining about Jefferson in a similar way in his thread too. Fantasy and the NFL has always been a "what have you done for me lately" hobby and sport but those were comedy gold comments from some on here.

Ekeler deserves some consideration, I love Herbert's talent but Ekeler carried that team.

I know the receiving corps was dinged up most of the year but there was still enough talent there that Herbert should have had a more impactful season with Ekeler drawing so much defensive attention. 4,700 yards on 700 attempts does not impress me.

ETA: I also think the Chargers are a prime example of how important coaching is to the success of a team. Can you imagine what that offense would look like if Andy Reid or Sean Payton were running it?

Tyreek CMC

ETA: just on the offensive side my first thought was Tyreek followed by Jefferson but could have easily have put in Kelce instead of those two. But now that I gave it a little more thought I'm changing my answer to CMC. I know the actual NFL MVP votes say this should go to Jefferson but to me MVP is a combo of a guy who was productive statistically while helping the team win and to me CMC did the combo of those two things better then anyone else. Their only loss since he joined the team was the week he gott traded and joined the team on like Thursday or Friday. In the 10 undefeated games they played in after that KC game he gave production which over a 17 game season would prorate to 1200 yards rushing/10 rushing TD's, 85/748/4 via the air and almost all this with a 7th round rookie QB. I truly don't think the team would have remotely held it together like they did without his prescence, especially considering the injuries to Mitchell and Deebo during this run.

Trent Williams. No sacks and more. Pff grade of 93!

And Tyreek graded higher than JJ with Skylar and Teddy and his grandmother throwing him the ball in many games. And Jacobs>>Barkley.

>>Duh. Williams had probably gone under the radar while playing in Washington but is finally getting his due on the West Coast. Williams graded out exceptionally well in all areas that we can measure. His pass-blocking grade on “rue pass sets — where we remove screens, RPOs and other such plays — was 85.0, which ranked sixth best. He allowed no sacks and earned a positive grade on 20.8% of his run-blocking snaps, which was the best mark in the league. He was the second-highest-graded offensive tackle on zone runs (95.8).<<

I love your analysis but if I'm giving an MVP to a Niner it's Bosa.

Mitchell picked up slack several times when McCaffrey was limited and losing to KC doesn't carry shame.

Losing to Atlanta OTOH, the only game Bosa missed, was a shocker.

Elijah Mitchell's performance, and many RBs in Shanahan's system, suggests McCaffrey, while a next level talent, is a cog more than a centerpiece.

Trent Williams is such a great call, and compared to his peers, is the best player in the NFL. Like, in pretty much every other position you can have an argument on who is the best guy. At OT, its Trent Williams, or you're just wrong.

Top 3:

Travis Kelce - chiefs wouldn’t be the 1 seed without him.

Justin Jefferson - Vikings wouldn’t have made the playoffs without him. (Well Maybe as a WC)

Trent Williams - 49ers wouldn’t be here today without him. Slightly over Bosa imo but wouldn’t argue too hard either way. ” You need a friend watching your back at all times “ Trent does that better than anyone. Really, the 49ers have many MVP candidates.

I’ll give it to Kelce. Many people thought the chiefs would drop a bit this year, Travis is a top 3 reason they didn’t (Reid and Mahomes)
