Notable CUTS - 2024 (1 Viewer)

RB DeWayne McBride
I was in a $350 entry FFPC draft a week or so ago and someone drafted him in the 8th round. Was easily the most bizarre pick I’ve seen this off-season and I’ve been drafting since January.
I remember him getting some fantasy love after last year’s draft, then he went to the PS and hasn’t been heard from since. Fantasy players get excited about players when the NFL doesn’t.

Might've thought he was the Card's TE?
He went at 2.5 but it was such a bizarre pick I had to wonder about that. For sure made me do a news scan, was half expecting to hear that Aaron Jones, Chandler and Nwongu were all traveling in a car that ended up at the bottom of a lake or something….and even then.

He took Doubs in rd 6 which in this format is solid 4-5 rounds early. Other then that pick and the McBride pick it was a totally normal draft, which makes it more dumbfounding.

Tim Patrick will be released or traded
Interesting. None of the Broncos young WRs really popped this preseason. This one doesn't make much sense to me.
7th round 6'4" rookie Devaughn Vele was a stud all throughout TC and makes Patrick expendable.

Payton was even quoted during minicamp comparing Vele to Patrick

“We like to say a good comp, but there are some traits you see from him that I think Tim Patrick has,” Payton said. “When you look at their size and where they can align — and I’m just talking about traits. He has good instincts, and he has really, really good ball skills.”

I was following Vele as I heard he was a standout during camp. One of the beat writers pointed out that Vele has been losing stream lately and only had 2 catches for 22 yards in the 2 games he saw action while other bubble guys were looking better.

Vele has some hype, but he's a 7th round rookie who turns 27 this year. Maybe the Broncos saw enough.

7 years of college down the drain
If football didn’t work out he can fall back on his JD.
JD? He's a lawyer?

EDIT: I looked and didn't figure out what JD was, but did read that he did serve two years between high school and college for his church. After his mission, he walked on to the Utah team. so I guess that's why he is old for a rookie

holy crap that's bad.

I've seen a few bad NFFC drafts but not Dwayne McBride in the 8th bad.
No joke ya'll but someone but Dewayne McBride was drafted again in this same $350 contest. This time I was not in the league but can see ADP data and someone pulled him in the last two days at pick 10.3.

This week's roster math.
  • Teams must go from 90 to 53 by 4pm ET Tuesday.
  • 1,184 players will be released, waived, or put on IR/PUP lists.
  • 544 spots on practice squads (up to 17 per team) are potentially available post-waivers - 16 + IPP.

For sure it's people thinking they're getting a steal on the AZ TE.

The busiest time of the year for agents per Drew Rosenhaus.

Dane Brugler

@dpbrugler

There were 9 QBs drafted in the 2022 NFL Draft – only the final 2 (both 7th rounders) are still with the team that drafted them.
1 (20) Kenny Pickett – traded
3 (74) Desmond Ridder – traded
3 (86) Malik Willis – traded
3 (94) Matt Corral – cut
4 (137) Bailey Zappe – cut
5 (144) Sam Howell – traded
7 (241) Chris Oladokun – cut
7 (247) Skylar Thompson (Dolphins)
7 (262) Brock Purdy (49ers)

Totally missed the Willis Trade last night

I’m not so sure because honestly the only thing that might be worse then drafting DeWayne McBride is actually thinking that’s Trey McBride and like not drafting him before rd 8 or 10 in a TEP format.
