Notable CUTS - 2024 (2 Viewers)

Browns are putting Jameis Winston on the trade block
WOW, very interesting here, I had thought he might take the job or he just a headache?
very confusing because isn't Winston a great teammate and very supportive of Watson?
How many INTs did he throw in camp?

Vrabel helping a Schwartz led defense has me guessing a lot.
I'm just curious is all
Browns like DTR & Huntley. Jameis likely has more trade value & higher salary.

Patrick and Perine officially released by Broncos. Somewhat surprising no one offered a 7th for those guys by I'm sure someone will grab them off the WW.
Why would anyone trade for them when it was widely known they were going to be cut. Things that make you go hmmmm.

Not like these guys are spring chickens I would been surprised if anyone traded for them.
Because if you're a low-priority waiver team in need of a solid veteran depth piece then a 7th is a pittance to give up

Last year Denver did the exact same thing with lesser-talented TE Albert O. and managed a 6/7 pick swap with the Eagles
The difference here is that Perine makes real money. I expect him to go unclaimed for that reason as well. Once he can sign for very little, he should find a home.

PSA Reminder

A Player who has four or more accrued seasons is considered a vested veteran and not subject to the waiver wire. They are released and immediately become a free agent. From the trading deadline through the end of the regular season, vested veterans are subject to the waiver process.

IIRC Vested Veterans can start signing at 4pm today?

Also, teams were allowed to use 2 of their 8 IR-R designations at cutdowns (new rule.) Some injured players were protected yesterday by keeping them on the 53-man and will be placed on IR-R after 4p.m.

There will be a lot of signings in the next couple days.

Chris Brooks RB Miami. They kept Jeff Wilson instead. Brooks could be a #3 RB on many Teams. He's recovering from a concussion.
Surprised they didn't try to slip him through on the IR. He is going to be a solid get for someone.
I believe teams can only designate 2 players to return who are placed on IR during the roster countdown, and not count against the 53. Cam Smith and River Cracraft are those 2. It's a numbers game.

Vested veterans can sign immediately. Lions already nabbed Tim Patrick.

Thanks

Can players who are cut sign with another NFL team?

Yes.

Vested NFL players with at least four seasons of experience become unrestricted free agents and can immediately sign with another team.

They're also guaranteed their initially negotiated 2024 salary if they're rostered before Week 1.

Good point. There is also the vested vet rule which @BobbyLayne reminded us of that effectively made Patrick a FA. It was widely reported that Patrick had multiple teams interested so the trade value was obviously there, just other creative ways to achieve the same goal. Kudos to the Lions for being creative.

Despite previous reports that he might be moved prior to Tuesday's cutdown deadline, Jameis Winston wasn't shopped in trade talks by the Cleveland Browns.

Per NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Browns never discussed trading or moving on from Winston.

Schultz added the Browns are expected to make a deal involving a quarterback on Wednesday, but it won't involve Winston.

Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reported on Tuesday that the Browns were going to field offers for Winston and Tyler Huntley, and a trade could happen involving either one of them.

Cleveland is in a tight spot with its quarterbacks after the 4 p.m. ET cutdown deadline on Tuesday. Winston, Huntley and Dorian Thompson-Robinson all made the roster behind Deshaun Watson.

So maybe a Huntley trade today

Current reports say Jameis IS NOT being shopped!

Reactions: Bri
Trayveon Williams released by Bengals
Williams was released to make room for the Bengals adding DE K.J. Henry off waivers. He will look to land another opportunity.
Can hear a lot of Chase Brown owners singing "Trayveon my wayward son, there'll be peace when you are done."
He wasn’t much of a threat to Brown. I never gave him a second thought.
No question - helps when there’s one fewer body though. Was more concerned about Perine coming back but fortunately didn’t happen.
