NYC sanitation exam (1 Viewer)

What kind of questions are there on this exam?

You discover a body of a hooker in a dumpster. Do you

A) Take anything of value

B) Have sex with it while the body is still warm

C) Call the police

D) Ignore it and dump it into the garbage truck with the rest of the trash.

Heres what grinds my gears.

We were scheduled for 9am. I arrived at 830. Little less than a third of the 1500 people arrived early or on time.

They made us wait in the auditorium til ten while people trickled in for an hour.

I understand a 15-20 minute grace period but if people are nearly an hour late they should be disqualified.

By the time we started all the early guys have to take a test after now being uncomfortable, aggravated and tired from waiting for the tardy people.

I just dont think that is fair. Total BS.

No but there was a question where the "least appropriate" action after a storm clean up was to build a snowman for the neighborhood children.

E) All except D.

Tough test when you have questions with multiple answers. I thinks this one is A & B because of the wording of C. Take out 'Ignore it' and it's A, B & C. Always read through the question thoroughly.

Some things are too pathetic to laugh at.
Seems mean.
Sorry. Was going for more obviously mean.
The Independent Budget Office estimates that the average sanitation worker with more than five and a half years on the job makes an average of $119,000 per year, including health benefits. This does not include annuity payments, pension payments, and other fringe benefits.
You clearing 6 figures?

MC- did you really take this?

if so, how'd you think you did?

for those harde-harring, these guys make good money (at least according to urban legend), and basically #### on the city while they do it (ignoring any and all traffic laws and tacitly telling every person to #### off).

if not... woof.

I have 3 Cousins in the NYC Sanitation Dept..... All have done pretty well for themselves and are comfortably retiring early with super Sweet Pensions...

I often compare that with my dad who started his own business and works his @@@ off... he did fairly well, had nicer cars / boat / vacations than the cuz's but, he's not retired yet at 70, always had 200x the stress and has no pension to fall back on.

The Union also sets things up nice where most Union Sanitation guys had plenty of time for a 2nd income / job... Plenty of time for family as well as time to work out etc even on the job..

I'm not sure what the future holds b/c personally I just don't get how ppl can get pensions for life and have Taxes / govt sustain that but, that aside.... It's really damn far from a bad lifestyle!!!

Good Luck.!!!

I got 70 out of 70. Its just a common sense and reading comprehension exam.

Although I did get really distracted halfway through.

We had 2 answer sheets. One that goes to the city and one we can fill out and keep for our records. On the cities sheet the answer bubbles go left to right and on our record sheet the go top to bottom.

Halfway through I noticed a guy next to me filling out the official sheet from top to bottom. Instead of checking bubbles #1,2,3,4, etc he was filling in answers for #1,7,13,19, etc and so on.

I couldnt stop watching this guy completely ruin his exam.

If I did flub one question on the second half that is why but im certain I got a perfect score. I was the first one finished along with some asian guy. We finished at the exact same time and I was irritated that I wasnt the first one finished.

It's UNION hard work......

It's nothing like pounding the street and really trying to earn a penny every day!!!

The hard part is strictly capped and it's frowned upon to work any harder!!!!

Wow - seems crazy. Are health benefits crazy expensive or are they reall making over 6 figures? Don't get me wrong, got to respect guys who do that - I know I'm a pansy and couldn't cut it.

Yes. Im assuming you think im lazy but there really is no such thing as a lazy person. Everyone has different motivations.

Ive been working without rest for almost two months promoting and designing for my business. Im surprised how much effort I have put in but I am able to because I care about it.

Ive worked hard at a couple of jobs in the past that paid well so I wouldnt have a problem with the physical labor sanitation requires.

The goal thpugh is to not have to work a traditional 9-5 eventually but for now I have this job that may pop up if needed.

City workers have excellent coverage at minimal expense if even

Floppo of course I really took the test.

Its not hard to fill out a form and wait for them to mail you with a test date.

It was only 70 questions and took 25-30 minutes once we were finally able to start

These are sweet gigs if you can get them in a city that's solvent enough to sustain the wages and ridiculous benefits.

If it is not tagged with the right sticker, I am pretty sure you leave it.

fwiw- it's easier to do stuff 24/7 that you like doing.

That doesnt mean it is any less hard work

If anything its more because I have enormous standards for myself

Moops- low 100s is lower middle class at best here. Pretty much hand to mouth until your over 200.

But this is only from my experience living here... I'll defer to your expansive knowledge on the subject?.

Maybe living in Manhattan, but in the outer boroughs 119 k plus bennies and no children I would feel like I had it made in the shade.
