OAK @ JAC (1 Viewer)

Does any team screw around near the goalline more than Jacksonville? Give Jones-Drew the friggen ball already.

Are you KIDDING ME!!! INT!! I was assured points from either Scobee or MJD. WTF!!!!!!!!!! I hate this GD game!

Okay we need a play by play here---what is happening?? 3 back to back 15 yard penalties??
Jags had 4th and 13 from the 25 after Oakland declined a penalty. Then the refs said nevermind, Oakland accepted the penalty so it'll be 3rd and 23 from the 35.Then, Sapp says something as the ref walks by and he tosses a flag. Another couple players start arguing about that flag after it is announced and two more are thrown. The ref announces those, then in the background Sapp is still jawing at another ref and he gets another flag, and gets tossed.Jax ends up with the ball 1st and goal at the 2, where Garrard throws an INT.

yep... I'm not understanding some of the play calling. You're ripping of 8 yard runs every carry and the only time your offense has bogged down is when you throw. The game is hand.. of course, but play calling seems off balance.

*Edit* to say... runs vs passes are pretty even mix. It just seems on certain possessions one dominated the other. I didn't like some of the 1st and 2nd down passing plays.

Thanks

Playcalling has been questionable all year. Why does Del Rio insist on throwing the ball late in games/in the redzone when they have two sure handed pounders in their RB stable? One may be going to the Pro Bowl for Christs sake.

Seriously though, what the hell is the reasoning for throwing on 1st and 2 when the defense is missing their centerpiece DT?

This #### makes me furious and we've been dealing with this inefficiency for a few years now. I love Del Rio as a motivator but sometimes I hate him as a HC.

Perhaps they are working on their goal line passing game for the playoffs. They seem to have this game in hand already, so why not work on some passing plays inside the 5? Teams they will play in the playoffs won't be as easy to run on at the goal line as the Raiders are.

I hope Garrard, Freddy T, and MJD get to rest and watch most of the second half. Can't afford the injuries to these three at this point in the year.

Well, I don't recall how many timeouts Jax had left but there were only 20 seconds left in the half.
1 TO left.
That was probably it then. I'd imagine they were saving the run and timeout for 2nd or 3rd down. If they run on 1st and burn the TO then a sack or player tackled in bounds after that ends the half.I'm sure they weren't counting on an INT from their QB that has thrown only 2 INTs all year.

I prefer this line of thinking.

Its not the first time they've done it. But I hope you are right. I guess what frustrated me the most was Garrard forcing the ball into 3x coverage. I hope he's not becoming too cocky.

He's been a little wiley the last few games.

Jump ball to Jones along the sideline. He didn't have any separation, but he was able to pluck the ball over Fabian Washington for the 37 yard TD. Nothing amazing, but it was a pretty decent catch.

So does Jamarcus Russell determine who he's going to throw to by trying to find the guy in double coverage and throwing to him?

Although Jacksonville is a hella tough game to start with.

Didn't get to watch it as closely as most of you, but it looked to me that 1/2 of Russell's bad day was his fault and the other 1/2 could be owned by the O-line. Russell got his ### kicked. Then again, maybe Kiffen told JaMarcus before the game, "You're about to face one of the best D units and a playoff team. I need you to work enough this offseason to feel ready to face a team like this again." I'm sure Kiffen can make this a positive going into next year, but if that line isn't as much more improved next year as they were this year, and many more games like this happen for Russell, confidence will become a concideration.
