They'll always be brothers, so I wouldn't bet against a reunion someday. There will also be the inevitable solo albums. But if it's quits for now, Oasis leaves a couple of near great albums, a few more good ones and a ton of great quotes. I know from past music threads that they have their detractors on this board. Some viewed them as a little more than a Beatles tribute. Noel unashamedly borrowed from the Beatles and others, but that's a long tradition in rock n roll. Most bands, including the Beatles, ripped riffs from their predecessors. Their best songs transcended their influences and their big sing-a-long choruses made them fan favorites.http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/8228053.stm
Noel Gallagher has quit rock band Oasis, saying he can no longer work with his brother Liam. Noel, the group's lead guitarist and chief songwriter, has recently been involved in a series of rows with frontman Liam.
The guitarist said: "It's with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer."
Referring to the remaining shows of their current world tour, he added: "Apologies to all the people who bought tickets for the shows in Paris, Konstanz and Milan." The band were due to play the Rock en Seine festival in Paris on Friday, but cancelled at the last minute.
If you take away the music, there's still the personalities and egos. In an era with few rock stars, Liam and Noel always carried themselves as such. They were never boring except for some off nights on stage.
