Obama extends controversial Patriot Act provisions (1 Viewer)

Not sure what the neo conservatives are mad about. Shouldn't you be happy?
Link to the neo-conservatives in here that are unhappy?
Some of you are sweating newspapers, other blogs. Some of you are exposing your bitterness for the way Bush was treated. None of you congratulated Obama for making another great decision.
I'm confused about who your "you" is referring to as neo-conservatives.
By "you", I mean you specifically. The man or woman behind the moniker Grove Diesel. What exactly is the purpose of this thread? To expose liberal bias? Do you really think conservative blogs, radio and/or television will have or have had any less of a hypocritical reaction to the way they treat the president's support of the Patriot Act?

Certainly happy he is continuing virtually every Bush policy concerning the War on Terror. But the fact that he won the Presidency soley based upon rhetoric attacking Bush is terrible. That rhetoric enabled Obama to implement other stuff I can't stand.
I'm happy Obama has chosen to mostly follow Bush's successful foreign policy. After all, it was Bush's "strategery" that caused the Arab Spring that has challenged the conventional power structures of the Middle East. I just wish we had someone smarter than Obama, like Bush, in the Oval Office today to better take advantage of the opportunity.I'm upset I had to sit through eight years of people comparing Bush to Hitler, and calling him an idiot, when it's obvious now that he was right all along and made all the best decisions, and those that challenged him before but support the Democrats now are clearly in it for partisan reasons. It's borderline treasonous the way Obama, Reid, and Pelosi played petty politics with foreign policy... the way they worked to ruin America as best they could for the sole reason of putting their own party in power. Just so they could carve out larger slices of the public treasury for themselves and their cronies.Oh, and everyone who fell for the "Hope and Change" is a sucker.
Bush gets credit for giving Iran more power in Iraq. Not for the Arab spring. His policies did nothing to bring that about and in fact his policies of freedom at gun point were the exact opposite of what those demonstrators did.

This is the tone you write with when you are happy?

I think you may have me confused with someone else that you're attempting to demonize by calling me a neo-conservative.Which of my beliefs, exactly, lead you to believe that I'm a neo-conservative?

The fact that you care about exposing perceived biases in the Huffington Post, ThinkProgress and MoveOn.

I wonder if the GOP is going to run their 2012 Presidential campaign by linking Obama as just another 4 years of W, with mindboggling increases in deficits, horrfic unemployment numbers, mandatory health care purchases and an utter failure of a Stimulus bill thrown in.

If they could put someone serious up as their candidate rather than the boatload of crap currently being touted, and then go for the jugular on this kind of stuff they'd give this guy a one term Presidency.

Unfortunately, the GOP seems to be a party that could screw up a wet dream.

:lmao: That's what makes a neo-conservative now? Ok. Clearly I've given you too much credit for intelligence and wasted too much of my time even engaging you this far. Feel free to come back and join the big boy discussion when you can bring something substantive to the table.

I apologize for wasting your time. Exposing your perceived bias from an organization 99% of America have never heard of is a very important issue. Please continue.

Meh, once he pushed through Obamacare he pretty much got free reign on foreign policy. Democrats will whine a bit, but in the end he isn'g going to lose any votes. He might even gain votes from Independents.

Man, do I ever hope you are wrong. Obama as a lame duck President is downright scary.

If you are not in one of these groups of people, you have nothing to worry about from the Patriot Act. I have no problem with it.

We are a ways past 60 days in the Libyan war or police action or whatever and Congress has yet to take up the issues, which would seem to violate the War Powers Resolution.

congress should hold the executive branch to it, but of course they won't.

Slippery slope and you know it.When did drug dealers and pornographers fall under the umbrella of the act that is supposed to protect us from terrorists?

How come liberals always mock the slippery slope unless it cones to security things? Just curious.

Perhaps an ignorant question, but what examples are there of the Patriot Act being abused to allow the government to infringe on civil liberties? I know that's the general complaint that some have against it so looking for some examples to solidify that.

Biggest issues brought forth so far has been the FBI's misuse of National Security Letters to collect information on people even in cases where the FISA court refused them permission previously. Since the FISA court is generally a rubber stamp if it refused them they must have been well outside the scope. But this is all done in maximum redact secret. We will never know what has been done in full. It's like an iceberg the biggest part is hard to see. And that's why it's a problem.

Why does opposition of the Patriot Act make you think I'm a liberal? Or that I mock the slippery slope?

This is a very good point. Opposition is quad partisan if we count the Tea Partiers and Libertarians as parties.

Liberal party? Cause Democrats voted for it... you know, now that it is not politically convenient to attack the fascists who want it.
