He may or may not be....but what he's not doing is "tearing the country apart" or being an "evil evil man" like the people who have been fooled into believing such nonsense would have you believe.

It's one thing to disagree with Obama's policies. But to act like he's some evil guy doing his absolute best to destroy the country just makes you look like an uneducated idiot.

For example, I couldn't stand GWB. But as dumb as I thought he was, or as much as I disagreed with his policies, I never thought he was "determined to tear the country apart". He wanted better things for the country just like I did, he just had a crappy way of going about it.

While "tearing the country apart" may be a little extreme, he has been extremely divisive.  Hardly the hope and change Presidency I thought I was getting when I voted for him.  Really wish he was more of a unifying force because we had a golden opportunity to make significant strides in bettering race relations.

I addressed this earlier in the thread, but I'll bite again.

As far as I can tell, a bunch of white people in Congress got upset when Obama was elected and decided they weren't going to work with him under any circumstance. It has been proven Obama has dealt with the most obstructionist Congress in US history.

That said, I'm open to listening.

In what way has Obama been "extremely divisive"?

What has Obama done to hurt race relations?

so programs that receive federal funds have to follow these guidelines, right? is this any different than mandating Common Core (CCoSS) and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) with RTTP money? Feds putting conditions on funds seems less than outrageous to me.

Well first off, he came into office with the support and vote of a majority of white people, so you can't really blame the deterioration that followed on white racism.  The guy stoked racial passions at several points during his Presidency.  And within the past year race relations dipped to lows not seen since the LA riots in the early 90's.  Examples?  Jumping to conclusions on the Henry Gates case and pissing off the cops, not lowering the flags after Chatanooga, Michael Brown support, Trayvonn Martin, lack of support for Kate Steinle (didn't call the family), said Eric Holder was being harassed by Republicans because, like Obama, he is black, his support for black lives matter...  This is just off the top of my head, I'm sure there are more.  The guy took identity politics to a whole-nother level.

I'm white and I've never felt "divided" by anything Obama has done.  Can you explain that?

It can't have anything to do with 24 hour news, talk radio, the internet, social media, the constant bombardment of bull#### outright lies and half-truths, a fractured and dying traditional news media, or people getting information exclusively from their own like-minded echo chambers. And that's just politically...think of all the racial strife.  i'm sure none of that stuff ever happened before everyone and their grandma had camera phones and an instant worldwide platform on which to share information.

None of that has anything to do with it.

I just don't understand this viewpoint.  He's without a doubt the greatest black president the USA has ever had.  How can anyone argue that? 

 
Obama approval rating: 50%

Approval rating for other presidents at the same time in their term:

George W. Bush - 28% in May 2008
Bill Clinton - 57% in May 2000 (this was a year AFTER the Monica Lewinsky scandal)
Ronald Reagan - 49% in May 1988
Lyndon Johnson - 44% in May 1968
Dwight Eisenhower - 64% in May 1960
Harry Truman - 29% in May 1952 (and that was actually up from 22% in February)

You also can't argue that he's the worst black president this country has ever "produced". He's the worst multiracial president. These are facts and the sooner we face them. We don't need a president that will tear us apart by defending blacks or cross genders or ufos. We need a president that will bring us together by being tough on arabs and bring rough on Mexicans and being more fair to white men.

No coincidence that a social medium like Snapchat got so popular during Obama's reign. Twitter too. Think about what this is doing to our kids. Obama promotes all of this. Smh. He knows if the people get dumber, he gets smarter and right now he's smart af.
