Look, you're always going to have 30-40% of the population who hates the other side. Even Eisenhower only averaged 60-65% approval. So, Obama being at 52% is actually pretty impressive. Reagan and George W. Bush didn't hit those numbers at the same periods of their 2nd terms.

(Many people like to think that Reagan was universally beloved, but the reality is that his approval numbers hovered around 47-49% most of the last 2 years he was in office.)

Exactly.  I usually go with 30%.  High 50's is really good at this point.  You'll get high points when some significant event happens, but once that wears off, its back to reality.

understood that there's going to be a roughly 50/50 split on just about any given political topic but i'd still think "worst ever" would draw a lower number of votes.

this wasn't "is Obama the worst current Democratic 21st century President".  this was "worst ever".

W was the President not that long ago, for chrissakes

I'm Republican, and Obama is far, far from the worst president ever.  Even in recent memory - is he worse than Nixon? Than W? Than Jimmy Carter? Could go on and on..

 
For the record, do we continue to judge the O until is last day in office or is it now officially Trump's show?   I know its going to be hard for righties to decide without knowing how these last few months turn out, but give it a shot.

Watch what you say about my boy Jimmy.    He may have been the suck for everything else but on October 14, 1978, Jimmy Carter signed the bill H.R. 1337 which allowed home brewing.

Any terrorist attack or slain cops between now and Jan 2020 will be Obama's fault. If there are none, it's because of Donald's strong leadership.

Any good economic news between now and Jan 2020 will be due to Trump (high stock index, low unemployment), while any bad economic news (low stock index, high inflation) will be a "correction" related to Obama's policies.

I can't tell if he's just dumb or so set against Trump and the GOP that he's OK with riots and people beating the #### out of Trump supporters.  Simply does not care what happens,  as long as it supports what he's trying to accomplish.  Every opportunity to calm things down a little and refuses to do so.  This guy just does not get it.  You're the reason Trump got elected,  fool.  What a bad guy.

Psst -- he's saying that he would never tell someone not to exercise their right to protest. Just about every good president has understood and respected that right.

Obama has put up with tons of protesters, maybe more than any president since Nixon. And he handled them all with class. Even when a disrespectful and classless Trump fan interrupted his speech the other day, he handled the incident with pure class.

(Of course, if you subscribe to the Trumpslant feed on Facebook, all you would have seen was this).

P.S. Obama's approval rating just hit its highest level in 4 years. The country misses him already.

 
Did it to yourself,  Barrack.  You shut out the GOP and told them to fall in line or "get to the back of the bus."  Now you're going to see where your divisive tactics got you.  Democrats have lost all control because of you.   As staying true to yourself,  I have no doubt you will continue to divide and stir up controversy for anything the GOP does that you disagree with.  Divide until the end.

I don't know where each poster sits on every topic. I'm one of the few that doesn't keep a notebook but how full of hate are you for Obama? Either you are so full of hate and/or you have no clue. History is going to look back at Obama as one of the top third of Presidents in this country. From what you said above, the last 8 years has seen Congress stonewalling getting anything done and the Republicans have spoken to the lowest common denomator in that time. The divisiveness has come from the Republican side of the aisle and they've been pointing at Obama. Hello!!!! Congress makes the laws and they've done nothing for six years. Republicans are shameless in their culpability when it comes to the people of this country. It's sad that most don't that and it's going to be a dark mark on these past few Congresses.

It's all calculated. All he has to fall back on after 8 years is Obamacare which is about to rightly so be dismantled and his ego won't let him go away like he should. His arrogance is pretty amazing.

Well, that and the fact that he killed Bin Laden, made Castro die of a broken heart, and led us out of the greatest recession since 1928, including a record-breaking 12,500-point increase in the Dow Jones average. Oh, and the lower gas prices. Forgot about that.

The only pres to directly impact my life. Thanks to Obamacare I was able to purchase health insurance after being turned down previously for preexisting conditions. 4 surgeries coming to over $600K cost me only my deductible of $2200! And now I'm nearly as good as new!
