Some of the reasons those men are not in the labor force are: more satisfying activities at home, such as video games and porn - why get a real girlfriend; health, both physical and emotional. Interestingly, the labor participation rate has gone up quite a bit for both men and women, age 55-64 and 65+. Some of these older folks can't afford to retire or pay for health insurance, and some are making too much money at a job they enjoy to consider retirement.
