Ocho Cinco asks Parcells to call him (1 Viewer)

I love that move for Johnson and MIA...

MIA has a first round pick it can give up... what about swapping #1s and #2s and CJ to MIA?

Wouldn't be a bad deal. CIN needs a big player, and what better way to get it than a 1st overall pick. Their OL is terrible, taking Long with that first pick would shore up their OL for years to come. Or they could go DL and draft the other Long. Either way, CIN needs a player big at that position.

CJ was in TJ's shadow this year, and CIN has such depth at WR, losing CJ wouldn't hurt them too bad. I think this is a fantastic move for CJ

For MIA- this would spark a huge turn around for them. They've got a solid running game if Brown comes back well healed and in shape. They'll have a top WR... They'll have Trent Green back to help groom a rookie QB- or they can stick with youth they have as grooming material. They should have the cap space to take on Johnson.

I think this is a fantastic move for both sides. A deal that should be done. Yeah, MIA is awful, but keep in mind they lost Ronnie Brown, and he was the best RB in the league. They lost Trent Green, who in his second year of the system could be a serviceable QB (if he can remember his name). This team isn't far off from being 8-8... especially with Johnson on board, a solid draft, and maybe a free agent signing or two on defense...

i think he was making a funny... quit playing around
Oh come on... he knows what he's doing. He's stirring the pot. He can "make a funny" and know that it'll lead the news and be the big story in the worst week of NFL news since the season began. The media will talk about it, message boards like this will discuss it, it will eventually make it to MIA and to Parcells... and where do you think it'll go from there? I doubt CJ would fight a trade somewhere else where he could be the undisputed #1 WR... he needs the attention. He's started the snowball rolling, now watch how big it gets. CJ knows how to play the media, he knows exactly what he's doing. He wants out and MIA is one of the few teams out there that has zero #1 WRs and has already show interest to trade their #1 pick and even Zach Thomas...

Yeah, CJ looks like he's going somewhere else this offseason to me. It's funny how his final season stats come out among the league leaders, but it reality he blows up for 2-3 games a season. Palmer just doesn't go his way too often in the redzone, it's always Housh and Chris Henry down there. Possible rift between him and Palmer many people are speculating. I don't have the stats to back this up, but Chad dropped like 6-7 catchable balls in the few games I saw this year. The drops, antics, and Chris Henry make CJ more expendable than we think

He is being a team player. The smartest thing for the Bengals would be to get that #1 from Miami for CJ and whatever else they wanted then draft McFadden to replace Rudi who sucks and go from there.

I am not so sure about the bold part. I am guessing that Housh is helped a lot more by the presence of Chad than the other way round. I like both guys, but Chad has always looked like the head and shoulders better receiver of the two to me.

If 85 wants out so badly, then he'll volunteer to give up his signing bonus so the Bengals won't take a big cap hit and can trade him more easily. Until then, it's just 85 being 85. A big whiner.

Chad doesn't like being the 2nd best wr on his team....
Once Chris Henry gets a full training camp under his belt,CJ may be the 3rd best WR on his team.I understand why he would want to go to the teamwith the least amount of WR talent in the NFL. It will make him look better than he really is.overrated.

Chad wants out ! He was kinda kidding here - but there is no kidding that Chad is unhappy in Cincy , doesn't like Marv Lewis , and wants a change. He can demand a #1 pick - might be a solid Move for Cincy to deal him as they already have C. Henry and Housh anyway - Miami has the #1 overall which they could pick Dorsey a player they desperatley need more than 85 !

Miami should consider it, if the trade was a first, a second and CJ. That seems about right. But, easier said than done on Cin's part.

Henry <<<<<< Chad and I certainly don't want a guy who's one strike away from a permaban being a top 2 receiver on my team.

The crazy part is Chad is in the top 2 in the entire NFL in targets (Hou$h is the other one, I'm not sure who's 1 and who's 2) - it's not like going elsewhere will mean he sees more of the workload. The workload on the top 2 receivers is already too high as it is. Could be as much a renegotiation ploy as anything, but he can kvetch all he wants - they aren't going to deal him (you know he ain't giving any signing bonus back) and they don't really have the horses to replace him. (With Henry out, there basically was ample proof that we don't have anything other than servicable guys at #3 receiver - the team is MUCH weaker at that position w/o Chad).

But I guess it's just the same ol' show over and over and the same reaction time and again on the board to a story that's going nowhere.

the Dolphins are interviewing Hue Jackson for their Offensive Coordinator position

Correct me if i'm wrong but is that not Chad's favorite WR coach he's ever had. I'm pretty sure he talks openly about how much like and respect he had for Hue.

(1) How many WR's have flourished under Parcells? He and Owens did not get along. He has had some good production but nothing great from Wideouts... Chad is not going to get away with his BS under Parcells without an Owensesque meltdown happening somewhere along the lines.

(2) As noted above, Parcells does not seem to be a WR's dream coach - and that includes when he DOES have a solid QB. Which he doesn't right now.

I think Chad wanted to be joking.

Parcells is not Miami's head coach.

Fair enough... I guess I was thinking of him in those terms.Hard to see him not coaching I guess, especially since I'm watching the Giants SB vs. Denver right now. That said, I don't see some gunning philosophy for the team, especially considering they have no QB right now. But I could be wrong.

Not in title...

This is correct. All of the current Wr's who were coached by Hue hold him in very high regard.

 The hatred for Chad Johnson really has me :lmao:

Miami has too many holes to fill. A team that is one piece away(Philly, Dal) is possibly going to make a play for him. not a team with a terrible o-line, and an aging defense, no qb, no wrs. Miami needs to stockpile draft picks, and rebuild.

Besides, cincy has zero depth at wr besides cj/tj and unreliable henry.

Cincy will target a wr in the draft this year, making CJ expendable down the road, but A has to happen before B does

As a Bengals homer, they would be STUPID to let ocho go. I think he's playing around neways.

Granted TJ is a beast, but it's because of Ocho taking the coverage. Whille the DB"s stick with Ocho, TJ gets all the underneath stuff.

As far as Henry, he's too inconsistent. His only route is the fly route. He shows signs of being good, but too many drops, alligator arms, etc...

People may say Ocho is inconsistent too, but his numbers don't lie.... period.

Really? Seems to me this story is going wherever CJ wants to take it.
Case in point, from PFT today:
CHAD'S CHATTER CONTINUES

Bengals receiver Chad Johnson is doing everything he can to get out of Cincinnati, without saying that he wants out of Cincinnati.

Instead, he's openly flirting with various teams via appearances on their cities' radio stations, and he's likewise using national platforms to refrain from expressing a clear commitment to his current team.

Here's the clip from WFNZ in Charlotte, during which he said that "85 plus 89 equals a Super Bowl, period."

Johnson also was on WSCR in Chicago, during which he said he'd make quarterbacks Rex Grossman or Kyle Orton into superstars. Johnson also said, "I've worked myself to a point to where I make the quarterback look good regardless of what he does or where he puts the ball."

Before the interview, Johnson wrote on a note pad to Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck, "Can I play in Seattle?"

According to the Boston Globe, Johnson approached a Boston reporter and said, "I'm going to be playing for your team next year.

In an appearance on NFL Network, Johnson was more restrained. He even tried to deny -- perhaps jokingly -- his comments that recently were shown on NFLN during which he suggested that he wants to play in Miami.

Johnson later admitted that he is frustrated in Cincinnati. "Stuff is just not right," he said. Near the end, he hinted that he might retire. "I might have to hang it up," he said. "You never know."
Non-story? Hmmm.

Johnson was on NFL Live yesterday. His exchange with Trey Wingo went like this:

Wingo: Do you want to play for the Bengals next season?

Johnson: I want to play anywhere where I have a chance to win a championship or make the playoffs.

Wingo: Does that include Cincinnati?

Johnson: That's it. (said in a "that is all I am going to say" kinda way)

And then he chuckled. In other words, he would not say he wanted out of Cincinnati, but he made it obvious that he wants out.

I took it more as he wants to win a championship. IMO he has done a good job of not saying the defense blows, and we can't compete in the AFC until our Front Office and Coaches figure out that Palmer, Housh, and Johnson can't win every single game for you.

That's how I read it, too. I don't blame him since this season, although not unexpected given their schedule, was extremely disappointing. The defense needs to be fixed quickly, especially the secondary.

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson feels betrayed by head coach Marvin Lewis and is privately threatening to sit out the 2008 season if he isn't traded, according to a source.

Johnson was upset after the coach quit speaking to his receiver early in the season, according to the source.

The Bengals star wideout has been making the rounds with the media at the Super Bowl. When asked on Jim Rome's radio show this week about whether or not he was happy with Bengals, Johnson sounded less than happy.

"I'm not allowed to say. I get the blame; the so-called best player, I'm the problem. Someone in-house is spreading this. Maybe they want me to quiet down [and] stop being me. That is not going to happen. I can't function that way. I tried it. It sucked. There was no excitement."

Lewis has said he won't trade Johnson, who finished with a single-season franchise-record 1,440 receiving yards. Johnson has had six consecutive seasons with at least 1,000 receiving yards and is under contract with the Bengals through 2011 after signing a $35.5 million extension in April 2006.

"Obviously, there is a lot of frustration with things that happened last year as it pertains to Chad," Johnson's agent, Drew Rosenhaus told The Cincinnati Enquirer.

Rosenhaus tried to explain his client's recent statements to the media.

"What Chad is doing [in the radio interviews] is expressing his emotions and frustration."

Found this blurb in the bengals.com article about Chad's being added to the probowl roster:

Johnson has immersed himself in quite a bit of controversy since he last played, particularly at last week's Super Bowl when he hinted he wants out of Cincinnati. But the Bengals have indicated they won't trade him and are ever mindful of the $6-7 million hit they would take on the 2008 salary cap if they jettisoned him.
Link to full articleJust don't see the Bengals taking that hit to move him out. Take a $7m cap hit to make your team worse? :fishing:

Is it possible that you can trade money for a player? Im pretty sure i have seen it happen before but i dont know where. If that is the case, the Bengals could trade Chad and get a pick or 2 and some money in return right?

Be careful what you wish for chad... passes are a hell of a lot easier to catch when their coming from Carson. I honestly believe peoples ego's get the best of them... if he thinks he going to end up with those numbers going to the raiders next season... he's on some heavy drugs.

7 million cap hit to get that yahoo out of the locker room. He puts a strain on the team... it'll be like Tiki Barber leaving.
