***Official '16-'17 NHL Season Discussion Thread*** (1 Viewer)

As I watch the infinitely forgettable Kevin Hayes play center, take faceoffs and play on the PP, I cant help but think he is being showcased in a package for Trouba or Fowler.  Gotta believe the NYR can trick a franchise like WPG into thinking he has value.

The expansion draft is funky and defence is gonna be at a premium.
Bruins fans will take Hayes for his brother right now.

Jessiman really stands out like a sore thumb in the upper middle of that '03 draft.
They could taken the top 100 available names, put them in a hat, picked one out and ended up with a better player probably 95% of the time and an eventual All Star like 20% of the time. Okay, that last number might have been high.

I also forgot that Shea Weber went a pick before the Rangers took fellow d-man Ivan Baranka.

Great game between Blues and Wings tonight, both goalies were ridiculous throughout and in the shootout.   8 shootout rounds, three total goals.

Hank shootout goal!  Six straight!  :banned:

I think Anaheim will move Bernier and another assert and retain some salary before they trade Fowler

They should not move Fowler anyway

I don't know who this new Suter is but I'm glad they moved last year's Suter for him.

Eriksson Ek is going to stick, this kid is ready

Need the Rangers to play worse... They came out hot to start the year in 2015 too, that didn't end well. I'd rather see mediocre hockey from them progressively get better than good hockey progressively get worse.

This is nothing like last year. They are among the league leaders in offense and will be for most of the year IMO. Last year they were getting bailed out in 1-0 and 2-1 games by the King who was playing beyond ridiculous. Now the roles have changed. The team is scoring while Hank looks mortal.

Twitterverse seems to hate Holden. Im not sure why. The guy is a leader in Corsi and passes the eye test. If they can get another top D man and sit Girardi, I think this team has a real shot. Which is crazy since they were blown out of the waters in the first round last year

I'm guessing the PA hasn't made an issue of RFA collusion (yet) because it just leaves more money to be wasted by teams on UFAs.

Going to pick up Chem X in a little while for the Canes and Rangers.   It will be soooooo fun to see Cam give up 5 goals in person and have X rub it in.  :sadbanana:

I figure we will still start out slow and end the night on fire with hookers and blow.  :banned:

My heart says Canes win 3-2 but with Lundqvist in net, my head says Rangers 6-2 with one empty netter.  :topcat:

The Kings found the key to winning after losing first three.  Just force an OT game........Kings with 4 straight wins in OT/Shootouts.  Who needs a 1st or 2nd string goalie....Budaj getting it done....hahah

This Ducks team is garbage huh? Tortorellas steamrolling them tonight.

Canes played well tonight late.  Cam saved them early.  There was a lot of blue in the house, and it always amazes me how many hotties go to hockey games.  X thought he saw his first hat trick and experienced one without it actually being at hat trick plus it was free hat night.  Pretty bad hats, glad we got to toss them.  Rangers had some tic tac plays that should have been goals but glad I got to see the win.  Plus thanks for the ticket X, perfect seats in the lower bowl.

Marner has played 9 games now, so his ELC kicks in if they keep him up the rest of the season. Good article here looking at whether the Leafs should send him back here.

Also, for as good as Marner has looked and all the hype for Matthews, William Nylander has been the most consistent and leads all rookies in scoring.
I bet Nylander for Calder prior to the season began. I got 7 to 1 odds or so, but I think Laine may run away with it if he keeps playing on the top line in Winnipeg.

Yeah, he might. Nylander also has 7 of his 11 points on the power play so far. He is deadly there but that's nowhere close to sustainable.

I just can't believe they are still doing this offsides review. It's the dumbest thing in any sport. It's incomprehensible.

I just purchased tickets for an autograph signing for my son on his actual birthday. We are hoping he freaks out. On hand will be Piri, Skjei, Lindberg, Vesey, Krieder and Zibanejed

Also hoping one or two will be nice enough to take a picture with him. Hockey guys are usually awesome about stuff like that

Its at the Roosevelt mall on LI if anyone else is interested
