Bruins finally showed some real fight after being down 2-0. Great to see. Backes in particular seems to be agitated all night. And I'm not sure what Scott Wilson did to earn himself getting punched in the face repeatedly by Colin Miller, but whatever.

Meanwhile, there were two obnoxious female Penguins fans sitting two rows behind us. Says Mrs. Dunn: "I want to punch her in the throat." :wub:

Kings are petitioning the league to switch to 3 on 3 for the entirety of the game.  Get's all the rif-raf off the ice......Kings have lots of rif-raf..........hahhahahaa

 
I have an extra ticket to the skills competition tomorrow.  Face value is $124 and I am just looking for a fair price.   If you are interested make me an offer.

I would rather see it be a 3 on 2 power play rather than shorten the time to 45 seconds.  I have seen a couple games where there is a penalty close to the end of regulation that carries over and then there isn't a stoppage in overtime for 2-3 minutes after the penalty expires so it turns into 4 on 4.  I understand that 3 on 3 isn't real hockey but it is damn exciting and being a Kings fan its about the only way my team can win.....hahaha 

 
surprised the Bolts got so little for Nesterov. I guess they like Witkowski more, but he has 2 points in 34 NHL games.

The Blues were well-represented, which was nice to see.  Four players who definitely had their peak on the Blues (Hull, Pronger, MacInnis and Oates), and several guys who made their mark here before going elsewhere (Shanahan and Stevens).  Oh, and we did have Gretzky for a few months... :lol:

Ducks had Niedermayer,  Selanne, Pronger, Oates,  Federov and Kurri.  Kariya had 989 points in 989 games. Thought he had an outside chance.

So no all-star site for next year? Is that right? Yet they are still making a fuss over not letting players go to the Olympics? When will they announce a site?

WG hated his time in STL.  He didn't think they treated him properly FWIW.

Everyone in St. Louis knows the story. Keenan was an ####### and already was in the process of running Hull out of town. That's about it though. I mean, he met his wife here and still has a house in St. Louis.

While I'm sure it's more than what I'm about to say, the Blues struggles basically boil down to their goaltending. It has been especially bad the last couple months. They also miss Backes and I would bet their possession numbers are down a little from last year. Hitchcock is a lame duck coach, he's been great in St. Louis and has a long history with Doug Armstrong so I'd be surprised if he got fired. Maybe in a desperate attempt the light a fire under the team.

Looking back with the benefit of hindsight, it is probably Armstrong who needs to go. He has signed players to some pretty bad contracts. Lehtera, Allen, Bouwmeester and even the Steen extension is looking rough and it hasn't even kicked in yet. He's failed to get anything of value for Shattenkirk like a top 6 forward to slot in for Backes and at this point I'm just hoping he decides to throw in the towel and trade the guy for a first or something. 

Not sure the Blues are entirely dead for the future. Still have some good young pieces, but hitting on a top 10 pick and perhaps adding a couple other young talented players in the draft from trades would be a big help. Oh, a goalie is needed too... sigh. Hope they tank this year rather than try to squeeze in as a wild card because this team just doesn't have it.

Yeah, it's you. :lol:   Come on man, with all that goalie equipment on shooting with a glove and a waffle? Ok. 

 
Ok, here are my thoughts from the All Star weekend:

  • The overall marketing for the event was terrible.  There was nothing in an easy location to see the schedule and many people missed out some parts (celebrity/legend game & Mascot game, etc) because they had no idea they were even happening.
  • The transitions between events at the skills competition were terrible and took a long time.  Geared towards TV but not good for the people there live.
  • The game itself seemed to be played at half speed with a lot of overpassing.  I didn't expect the games to be intense but it didn't even look like they were trying half the time.  This was probably my biggest disappointment.
  • Not a lot of player availability surrounding the event.  I expected more autograph opportunity or sightings (although did hang out with Tony Esposito and his wife after the skills competition for about an hour at a bar having drinks.  Really awesome experience).
  •  Didn't go to the NHL Top 100 event as the tickets were very expensive.
  • Overall I am glad I went to experience the weekend but I wouldn't do it again at the prices they sell for.

I didn't know it was all star weekend until I was adjusting my fantasy lineup and there were no games.  Didn't see much on TV about it being on.  Not sure what channel the skills stuff was on, if I even get that channel.  Why same weekend as the NFL Probowl, although better than any playoff week or superbowl week.
