***Official '16-'17 NHL Season Discussion Thread*** (1 Viewer)

Will be interesting to see how it shapes up this weekend with the B's hosting the Caps and the Leafs hosting both the Pens and Jackets, and none of those Metro teams having anything at stake.

Bruins essentially need a win vs. the Caps or a regulation loss by the Leafs to avoid playing Washington in Round 1.

I want to see Bruins Caps.  hopefully Krug is okay, think they could make that a good series

Didn't sound good for Krug after the game, which was weird since the play didn't look too bad. Have to wonder if we see McAvoy this weekend if it's anything long-term.

And sorry, but I want no part of the Caps. The Bruins have lost eight straight to them over the last three seasons ... although they also ended up winless against Ottawa and Toronto this season, so who knows?

obviously you don't want to play the Caps, I just think it would be a good first round matchup.  should be close.  had the same thought about McAvoy

McAvoy's a right shot, so it's not a perfect solution, but he's a good puck-mover. They also could put Colin Miller back in the lineup if they don't want to burn McAvoy or don't think he's quite ready.

lol at this finish in Colorado.  no goal. review. goal. review. no goal.  bizarre
#### Toronto.  The Av's suckiness is well established, but they've been screwed numerous times this year with reviews.  This game won't matter, but it would be nice if toronto could apply the rules consistently.  Hell, I'm not even going to say they got this goal wrong.  Just #### them in general.

would be cool to see McAvoy have a Subban type run out of nowhere like 2010

first review was the whistle which definitely should have been overturned because that was puck free.

second review was a challenge for goalie interference.  could have gone either way IMO.  Dubnyk is a flopper but the optics were bad with the push on Brodin.

seems fine to me.  I'm not biased at all.  two reviews is effing dumb though.

let's just agree on that the Avs are playing hard and smoked the Hawks who are on their way to losing 3 straight while the Wild are America's team on a roll with 3 straight.

finishing strong

I don't disagree.  I added that I didn't disagree with the call, but colorado has been screwed by several toronto calls this year.

lol...FYP.

not yet. I'll set it up today or tomorrow.

post here if you're interested. draft is usually night before the playoffs start, or maybe 2 nights before if that works better for everyone.

Sounds Thornton is going to be OK come playoff time.

Big game tonight against Edmonton potential 1st round matchup. Sharks play well tonight it will give them some momentum for the playoffs.
Oilers with the win and Lucic gets the natural hat trick. Talbot sets team record with 41st win of the season breaking record previously held by Grant Fuhr.

Ducks win tonight makes it probably Anaheim v Calgary and Edmonton v San Jose in the 1st round of playoffs.

McDavid has 97 points and leads the race for the Art Ross over Kane and Crosby.

Catching up on the last few posts...

Leafs are getting in and losing to Washington in round 1. They needed a couple more wins down the stretch to avoid this matchup and make it to round 2 by beating Ottawa/Boston, which they would/will do, but even a round 1 loss to the Caps, it's still a massive step forward.

I would have given Marchand 3 games. 2 was the obvious response with 2 games left in the season but he'd pulled this #### so many times, make him sit a game that actually matters.

I really like Sobotka and think he's a great pickup for the next few years with the extension, as a Leafs fan, comparison who comes to mind is Leo Komarov who is a very very effective player who sometimes gets overlooked. That said, any short term impact should be a bonus not an expectation.

DU UMD will be a good ship.  best teams all year.  NCHC grinder
Going to be a good one. I guess Melrose likes the big grinders boys out of Duluth, just his style.  Pioneers can skate and move puck. Love it that it's an all NCHC affair - suck it Barry Alvarez

Sharks are a mess right now. Saving it for the playoffs I hope.

Now Carlo hurt on a clean but awkward collision/fall into the boards with Ovie.

Who knows if he comes back but McAvoy time might be getting closer. JFK already making his debut today with Marchand and Acciari both out.

Nice to see Crosby and Kessel playing tonight

not that we needed another reason why the NHL is so much better than the NBA but there you have it.

booooooooooo

that was actually better than a Tampa miracle though.  Freddy gets hurt.  late comeback.  McElhinney makes an unbelievable stop on Crosby with les than a minute to play.  Matthews gets his 40th to ice it.  well done.  tomorrow is meaningless though.
