***Official 2007 CLEVELAND INDIANS Thread*** (1 Viewer)

Get this back where it belongs. Page 1.Up 5-2 after VMart's homer. We need to salvage game 3 of this horrible series and head to TB.
Agree. Needed Victor back in a big way. Bats w/ RISP have ice cold. Then again, when the opposition is scoing 10 and 9 runs it really doesn't matter.

Wow what an ending. Up by four and Borowski wasn't even up for the save.

Tigers lost in a similiar manner yesterday but it wasn't this similiar. That loss suX0r.

Is this end of Wedge?
If they don't make the playoffs he's gone. Borowski isn't gonna cut it. The sooner they realize this, the better off they'll be.
Whats the scuttlebutt on it though? Is he in danger from managment? Are fans in town calling for his head, or was the snow disruption generally getting him some leash? These guys could contend, but I don't think he's the guy to do it. Bring in a Fregosi, or a Showalter, I think things could happen for these guys.

Talk is that it's management. Showalter is sitting in the Front Office right now so he could be in line to step right in.They could contend. They need to play better defense and get Marte and Barfield, who are basically rookies, to come along quicker.

Barfield can play some ball, I think he's dealing with the league switch right now. And I like the look of Garko too. Pronk, Martinez and Sizemore are nice cornerstones and that bullpen can get it done.

Its way to early to make any sort of analysis. Wait about 40 games, and then MAYBE you can start to think about what you have. Especially with this team with the kids. Now is a good time to just sit back, relax, and enjoy baseball.

The thing is, almost every good team will have long stretches (weeks, sometimes months) where they play around .500 ball. If a club whipped EVERYONE, it would win 125 games, which isn't realistic. Winning 100 games usually entails having a hot streak where you crush a lot of clubs mixed with some cold streaks where you dwell at .500.

The indians are at .500 at 7-7. They could be a good team just in one of those slumps that a good team has, or this is a poor team and they are actually doing better than they should. We don't really have an idea because the season has barely started. Even when they won 93 two years ago, they had stretches where they looked terrible, and then other stretches where they had the best record in MLB. So relax, we can't tell what they are yet, enjoy some games. :lmao:

He's gone then. That team's not making the playoffs unless Detroit and Minnesota have massive injuries.
Wow. Pretty confident there for a team that's played KC 6 times and lost a series at home to the WSox (which was a 9th inning away from a sweep). Let's see how this plays out till mid June before we jump to ridiculus conclusions.

And you being a Sox fan know that the Tigers don't have a ticket punched for the World Series, let alone the playoffs, after a great season. Can't believe the Doc said that. Hopefully he was kidding some.

It's his opinion, he's entitled to it. I think the Tigers are the 3rd best team in the AL Central.

Big win last night as the Tribe closes this short two-game series against Santana tonight.

Some people are just idiots but this is ####### ridiculous:

Choo hears boos for wrong reason

Tuesday, April 24, 2007

Paul Hoynes

Cleveland Plain Dealer Reporter

Minneapolis -- Outfielder Shin-Soo Choo, promoted to the big leagues Monday by the Indians, has heard boos before.

Last week, the boos took on a disturbing tone. When Class AAA Buffalo, the Indians' top farm club, played in Toledo, fans apparently associated him with Seung-Hui Cho, the Virginia Tech senior who killed 32 of his schoolmates before killing himself April 16.

"Some fans said bad things," said Choo before Monday's game. "It's pretty close to my name. My name is spelled Choo, and his name is Cho."

When asked what the fans were saying, Choo wouldn't say.

"It upset me when a couple of fans talked like that," he said.

Choo and Cho are from South Korea.

The Indians promoted Choo to replace injured third baseman Andy Marte. Choo started in left field Monday. Marte strained his left hamstring running out a grounder Sunday at Tropicana Field. The Indians sent him to Cleveland on Monday for further examination.

"We don't think it's that serious," said manager Eric Wedge.

Great win against Santana the punk b#### last night. Nice way to salvage the road trip that started horrible in NY. Santana drilling Martinez and Hafner was such bushleague stuff. The Indians won't forget that either. When the situation is right, Maurer and/or Morneau are getting one in the ribs.

Carmona looked great. 6H and 2BB against them in the dome was nice. May have to send him back to AAA to make room for Cliff Lee though. Nice to know they have the option of him down the road though.

Tied for 1st place in the Central!

I didn't see VMart get plunked, so not sure of those circumstances (was it after Hafpipes 1st inning bomb?). But I did see the Hafpipes beaning. Johan went up and in on two consecutive pitches, and I believe it was right after Blake's RBI double to make it 4-2 or 5-2, and first base was open. Sometimes we try to figure out if a guy was really head hunting or not and that just seems pretty obvious to me. It was funny, Underwood and Manning even made mention that Hafpipes was asking Morneau at 1B if he wants to borrow his elbow armor.

First pitch after Hafner's HR.

So now when we plunk one of the M and M boys, our pitcher will probably get tossed on the spot, and the Twins will be crying murder. I can see it now.

Those were Santana's first two hit batters of the year.

4-4 on that roadie is very good. One out away from 5-3.

Now the Rangers and Orioles come to town. And it's cold and rainy again after some beautiful days. :kicksrock:

After starting 0-3, going 4-1 was huge.Typical Cleveland April.

5-spot for CC tonight might be enough.

Barfield and Peralta are 3 for their last 58 combined. Can't get much worse. Good thing is Barfield has been playing some slick defense. Play he made last night was real nice.

6-3 now. C.C. just gave up a 3-run homer. Those are some cold bats. Then again I just heard on the radio that the average temp for the Indians' 10 games outside has been 45 degrees. That's not counting wind chill. That can't help.

Like how Shin-Soo Choo is playing. 2-4 today (with s SO though) and that nice play in the field. Think we should keep him up here. Not sure how that will work out though.

Even though the Indians are in 1st place, it seems like they haven't really played all that well.

Tough call on Choo. Seems like we have a good number of MLB-ready talent in the minors, something we've talked about for years and then we sign guys like Grandpa Hernandez. We did go out and sign Dellucci and Nixon that essentially block guys like Choo, Gutierrez, Snyder and Fransisco in the OF. If we're not going to use them, then we need to get value for them when we can.Your second comment....one thing we are not is a pretty team. We are absolute butchers in the field at just about every position. We have to make up for it by hitting well and pitching well. As far as hitting goes, we're nowhere near our peak, and yet we have been scoring alot of runs. Pitching wise, we have been pretty good, even the pen has been solid overall besides two blown saves (but stuff like that happens). We're gonna win alot and it's not going to always be pretty. The one thing I like to see is we've been winning most of our close games, even when we've given up leads. That's been very unusual the past few years.

I like this team. If the Twins don't win the central this year I hope Cleveland does. I think the key will be Borowski.
Meant this when I said it but Wedge is delusional about Borowski or lying. He was quoted in the Akron paper today as saying something to the effect of Borowski being 8 for 8 before last night and he can't be better than that. As a Twins fan I hope he really believes that but as a closet Indians fan is sure hope he's just trying to pump Borowski up.Btw WG, sorry for the pissing match the other day. I was in a bad mood.

No worries. It happens.Borowski is basically Wickman with a different number. It's never a 1-2-3 9th. Someone always gets on base. Wedge is right that he's 8-8 or whatever (obviously not including the non-save NY game where he imploded) but the guy is shaky at best. I hope Wedge believes it b/c he's basically putting his job on the line with him.

How about that game that was played under protest? The umps botched that up big time. If the protest is denied, I can only imagine the problems MLB will have in the future. This probably deserves a thread of it's own.

Still not sure what happened there. What a cluster####.I'll take a 14-8 record in April though.

Heard someone on ESPN a while ago (sounded like Jeremy Schaap) say that if the Indians are out of contention , they will trade C.C. Sabathia. That makes no sense to me. :goodposting:
