3-1 :excited:

Although I'm a little worried about Felix. Not on top of his game last night and there have been rumors of him not being right. I hope it's just that stupid Japan trip messing with him a little and he will be back to his old self next start.

Other than that, I'm surprised about how good Figgins has performed so far, much better than expected. Ackley looks good, Ichiro is Ichiro but in the three hole. Looking for Smoak to pick it up this year, I think he will. Is it too early to be worried about Montero? I hate to do this, but watching the series with the A's and seeing how well Cespedes is mashing, and how lost Montero looks, makes me wish we went after the other slugger. I guess time will tell, Montero is still so young.

Would be a dream for Figgins to play well enough to be traded at the deadline and get out from the last year of his contract.

Montero scares me, a bad defensive player who is extremely slow. He's going to need to be quite the power hitter to make up for his lack of defense and potential easy double play candidate.

Not worried about Felix, he's had some struggling early season outings in previous years, just seems to take him a few starts to nail some of his stuff consistent.

<_<

Well, that sucked. Got to Yu in the first, but with that offense the Rangers will never be out of a game. That, and the M's pen other than the closer looks horrible.

Do they win more than two or three against the Rangers this year?

7-6 and second place in the division! :excited:

I know it's early, but I'm already loving this team much more than last years. I think they are headed in the right direction, and they are so much more fun to watch. Disappointed that they just drew the lowest number of fans to ever attend a game at Safeco (11,000). I think Ichiro doesn't draw anymore, and we don't really have anyone outside of Felix that people are really excited to see. I just hope that this new exciting play will get people fired up to come out as the season goes along. And if they can stay close to .500 I think people will start comming back out.

Well, at least they didn't waste a Felix night on that performance.

Interesting not a single replay so far on the check swing, certainly didn't look like he went around. Why no appeal either to first? Kind of like the ump wanted to make that call.

God Bless fans of this team. You guys deserve an award for watching this dreadful bunch day after day.

What a disgraceful offense. 2nd inning, the first two batters get on and they never move another inch. 5th inning, they load the bases with one out, then Ryan swings and misses at two balls in a row, each of which did not come within two feet of his bat.

Were I Felix, I'd retire until Seattle traded me.

Because the sports world needs more #####y superstars who sulk until they can force the perfect situation?
Burn?
 Situations like Dwight Howard gets the player killed image wise, not sure why anyone would make a comment they want a guy to come off that badly. Unless he is full of crap, Felix comes off as loving Seattle and wants to help them become a winner and dislikes the trade rumors that pop up. Personally I wouldn't blame him if he did make such a demand at some point. It would stink that your star wants to go else where but that is nothing big in this day and age of sports.

what a bullpen!
Except for that dude that threw like 8 balls in a row. I love how League walked off the mound at the end of 8. Took him an hour to get to the dugout. He looked like Clint Eastwood out there.
that was posted a while back after the BP blew late lead. they blew a few games earlier in the year. League's splitter last night was :thumbup:BP has been better recently

Mariners must have really wanted to dump some salary. Only question is why would you trade Ichiro when he could come up to bat against you first thing. At least wait to the Yankees leave the city.

I doubt the Mariners are too worried about facing ICHIRO.
Was thinking more of fan reaction. I know most know he is over paid but doesn't mean the reaction would be pleased.

Odd way to dump salary. I can't find the details, but I remember reading that Seattle had agreed to pay the bulk of his $18million salary. I think NY agreed to pay only $2.75 million. Further, he requested to be traded. But that doesn't mean they didn't intend to trade him anyway.

Well, he's already been paid for playing 60% of the season for Seattle so there's about $7.2M remaining to be paid this year. The Mariners are picking up the majority of that.I think it's a good move all around. Ichiro isn't part of the future in Seattle and deserves a chance to play in some meaningful games before he retires.ETA: it also provided a good media distraction to cover up the demotion of Justin Smoak.

Doubt it happens often that a last place team has different guys go back to back as pitchers of the month but the Mariners have done it this year with Vargas and Felix! :excited: (Yes, any small thing is exciting when you haven't been to the playoffs in a long time)

:goodposting: Small victories. Looking forward to an offseason of 20+ million in spending power.

Walls are moving in next year

Description of the changes to the outfield dimensions at Safeco Field in 2013 In the left field corner: The distance down the left field foul line remains the same at 331-feet. Instead of jutting out quickly to 341-feet, the wall will jut out to 337-feet. The hand-operated scoreboard will be moved, and as a result, the height of the outfield wall will be eight-feet from foul pole to foul pole. From the left field corner to the left field power alley, the wall will be moved in four-feet. The distance at the left field power alley will decrease from 390-feet to 378-feet. From left center to straightaway center field, the distance the wall will be moved in will vary from four-feet to a maximum of 17-feet. At straightaway center field, the distance will decrease from 405-feet to 401-feet. From straightaway center to the right center power alley, the wall will move in four-feet. The distance at the power alley will decrease from 385-feet to 381-feet. From the right field power alley to the right field line, the dimensions remain the same.

"Oh sure, now they move the walls in." - Ichiro, through an interpreter, even though he has been in the States for more than a decade.
