***OFFICIAL*** 2012 Washington Redskins Season Thread (1 Viewer)

The team-owned lots require a pre-purchased parking pass. You can find them online or there are people near the stadium selling them. I know people are along the Morgan Blvd entrance selling passes. There are also some cash lots. Last night, I parked in a cash lot for only $25. To my surprise, it was a very easy exit. No long line of cars to get out of the lot. It's located south of Landover Road, west of Brightseat Road, and north of Sheriff Road. You enter on Barlowe Road. I think it's the cheapest cash lot. Check out this thread at Extremeskins for cash parking options.

You can also take Metro. The walk isn't too bad; just under a mile.

Been having internet connectivity issues since mid-December...

Someone upthread said 'surreal'. Perfect way to describe it. Cripes, I've been negative and pessimistic since Snyder bought the team, and infected it with his personal brand of BS...I keep on wanting to post, but I just can't seem to find the neural path from brain to fingers.

Griff is absolutely unreal. Morris is relentless. The O-Line is doing more with less than I ever thought would be possible. Garcon is better than I thought he'd be, and as a result, Santana Moss is finally working against more favorable coverages (I've always considered him miscast as a #1)...Offense is chugging right along, even with an unspectacular TE, which I felt was an absolutely key piece. Defense went into the Season down THREE projected starters in the backfield (Jackson, Meriwether and Griffin), and shortly thereafter lost 2 more key pieces (Orakpo and Carriker), and has continued to find a way, despite what seemed to be an incompetent Haslett. London Fletcher defies explanation. DeAngelo Hall is playing better football than I ever thought him capable of. Sav Rocca doesn't disappoint, and Kai Forbath's success has just left me speechless.

I'm stunned, astounded, lost for words. It's weird to be happy, but happy I am...

Just heard Cedric Griffin is due back this week. That's like a cherry on top. Well, at least sprinkles.

Well, in this Season of unexpected bliss, it's almost fitting that we play the Seahawks in...

...our first Home Playoff Game since...January 8, 2000? My God, has it really been THAT log?

The last one prior to that was a Conference Championship Game, January 12, 1992?

Ugh.

Back to the Seahawks. A fitting oppponent, seeing how they ousted us in '05-'06 and '07-'08, both at their place out west. If we're really in the business of exorcising ghosts of season's past, it would be almost poetic to serve them a nice drubbing on our turf.

I firmly believe that if we can accomplish that, than anything's possible.

That's all I can muster right now.

HTTR, BOTW!!!

PS: It just dawned on me that what I'm going through must be akin to what Tolkien's King Theoden must have felt like when Gandalf whacked the Sarumen out of him...I have some serious dust to shake off...

@Rich_Campbell

Redskins' offense finished the season averaging 6.17 yards per play, best in the NFL. Last year they ranked 20th. Quite a transformation.

@Rich_Campbell

Shanahan, funny guy, on RG3's health: "I was a little disappointed yesterday because he only averaged 10.5 yards a carry."

This is a good sign.

The atmosphere inside the locker room was upbeat but subdued. Some players wore black hats that read “Champions” across the front. There was no champagne or any other rowdiness. Linebacker Brian Orakpo, who suffered a season-ending pectoral muscle tear in Week 2, shouted about the turnaround from a 4-12 record in 2009, but players mostly tempered their outward displays of emotion.

Overnight Ratings from Sunday's game.

Highest rated NBC game ever.

Highest rated regular season game in the last 15 years.

Highest rated regular season primetime game ever in the DC market (I assume that means there was a non-primetime game that was higher?). 44.6% of all TV households in the DC market had the game on. 68% of all TV households in the DC market that had the TV on, were tuned into the game.

It's interesting to see the top markets for the game. DC was first, followed by Richmond and Norfolk. Yes, Richmond and Norfolk had better ratings than Dallas. Dallas was 4th with San Antonio, Austin, and Albuquerque 5th through 7th. 8th was Baltimore, 9th was Greensboro, and 10th was New Orleans. New Orleans is likely an RG3 effect. Interesting that Greensboro had the 9th highest market rating. Still some Skins fans in NC, I guess.

According to doc walker, the cowboys left short a few players who stayed to spend some quality time in the hospital. Where's that guy who was running his mouth about how much more physical the "hawk" are?

Talks of Shanny getting an extension already. Even though I like the direction we are headed, do we really need to extend him when we already have him locked up until end of 2014 season?

As a fan, the only reason to oppose this is if you think an extension would decrease his motivation and make him less of a coach. Even with an extension, they could still get rid of him if this all goes south next year. At that point, the only downside is they have to pay him - but that's Danny's money and has no salary cap implications.I guess a fan could also argue that an extension might signal to Kyle that he's not taking over in two years and he might not be patient and leave (assuming someone wants him to be their HC). But, I think it's better to worry about locking up the established coach for a few years during what should be their peak run rather than worrying about keeping the guy who might be a good successor.Coaches rarely complete their contracts. They are either fired or retire before the contract ends. I'll admit, though, that the timing seems a bit reactionary and more of an emotional decision.BTW, I heard on the radio this morning that two teams are interested in interviewing Haslett for HC positions.

Pssst... I'm holding a $10 bet slip on the Skins to win the Superbowl. Never thought it'd pay, right now I'm  13 years since we won the divison. AWESOME
Me too... I was in Vegas after the amazing week 1 performance and put 20 down on the 40:1 SB win.

Redskins opponents next season.

Home: Cowboys, New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, San Francisco 49ers, Kansas City Chiefs and San Diego Chargers

Away: Denver Broncos, Minnesota Vikings, Atlanta Falcons, Oakland Raiders, Green Bay Packers, Dallas, Philadelphia and New York

Rough road schedule.

No kidding. Even the "lay up", the Raiders, requires a cross-country trip. If we're good, however, it won't matter. Good teams just find a way to make it happen.

Robert Griffin III sets two NFL rookie passing records

Alfred Morris named NFC Offensive Player of the Week

Morris became the second Redskins player this season to earn NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors, joining Robert Griffin III, who won it twice.
I haven't heard many NFL pundits pimp the yards per attempt rushing and passing for RGIII. Still trying to figure if anyone else has led the league in both categories before.
I don't believe anyone has.

The only viable candidate I can think of would be Steve Young. Nobody else had a high enough completion %.

Nice call. :) That link lists all players with > 8 yards/pass att. and > 6.5 yards/rush att. Young bested RGIII's numbers in '92, but he had 44 fewer rushing attempts and only 9 more passing attempts. Not sure if his rushing attempt totals qualifies for "best in the league" comparisons (this page suggests they don't, but I'm unsure of the cutoff; if you use Steve's numbers as the cutoff, he leads the league), but his passing yds/att did lead the league.

Vick's 2010 numbers are very similar with similar attempts in both categories. He led the league in rushing yds/att but was 4th in passing yds/att.

T Bell returns!!!! Wow.

Wanted to share this with you guys. RGIII is pretty classy.

God, it's even harder to hate this guy.

This is what RGIII said to Romo on the field afterward:

“Hey Tony. I just wanted to say to you, don’t listen to what anybody else is saying about you. You’re a great quarterback, man. And this game doesn’t mean anything,” Griffin said to Romo, in comments that will air Wednesday night on Showtime’s Inside the NFL.

I love RG and he obviously meant well, but it's presumptuous and not really his place to talk to a 33 year old beaten vet like that as a rookie. The game most certainly did mean something, more than griffin is capable of knowing. Part of being a graceful winner is knowing how to harness your adrenaline when dealing with your opponent after the game. "I think you're a great QB" would have sufficed. Telling him the game didnt mean anything? Oof. Still love the guy and I imagine Romo appreciated the underlying intention.

Thanks, guy. I'd always wondered how you handled conversations with vanquished NFL quarterbacks right after a game.

Has little to do with football. It's about how men communicate in their professional lives.

I don't think email is realistic in that situation.

Can't decide whether to pay the $$ and take my 9 year old daughter. We usually go to 1 game a year and she loves it. But prices running about $170/ticket. Tickets + beer/food = $400+ .....Plus I hate that friggin 1 hour metro ride (from Virginia). Weather looks pretty good though.... :wall:

Do it. it will be a memorable experience. Just make sure you arent in an area with an obstructed view. I bought tickets quickly right after the game without researching much. turns out they are obstructed view seats. :wall: I dont care though. Worst case i will go to standing room only. i dont plan on sitting anyway!!

Prices are dropping. Theory over at Extremeskins is the Redskins are putting up a lot of the SRO and Club seats to see what they can get. Those tickets aren't counted in the "sold out" definition. They are testing the market. I'm guessing by Saturday night you can get UL seats for under $100 and LL for maybe $150. They may even be a tad lower.I don't drink, so I don't have the beer cost. And, while I might get a snack or hot chocolate for my kid, I rarely buy much food or drink to keep costs down. At most, I'm there for four hours, so I don't need a meal. We will eat a late lunch, have a snack, and grab dinner on the way home.As for transportation, the long Metro ride is kind of sucky, but it's easy. Last week, because I didn't want to deal with potential single-tracking and track maintenance late Sunday night, I parked in a cash lot. There is a great cash lot for $25. It allows tailgating (with grills/fires). And, best of all, there was no traffic getting out of the lot. I parked at the back near the exit to make an easier getaway, but I didn't need to.

The entire lower bowl stood for the entire Cowboys game. With SRO tickets, they are tickets for an actual spot. They have row and "seat" numbers like any other ticket. They were packed for last week's game, so it's possible you'll get kicked out by someone holding that actual ticket if you go up there.

I see 16-0 there.
No more 4th place schedule. But things change fast in the NFL. Maybe some of those tough teams won't be so tough next year.

I love how all the ESPN Radio Morning Show analysts are just writing off WAS. Like its been nice what you've done, but SEA is the team to beat in the NFC right now. Give me a break. I don't see it like that. SEA is not great on the road and have a Rookie QB who isn't great on the road as well. Oh wait they beat CHI. (CHI didn't really seem to be that great really, so that win doesn't impress me so much.) I think this game is closer then people think.

:goodposting: My thoughts exactly. "Don't listen to what everyone says about you"?oof. I thought Romo was going to tell him to eff off.He clearly meant well though. Love RGIII, but that was patronizing from a rookie.

Would it have been better if he said: "Ignore the haters. You're a great quarterback, regardless of how this game played out."Because I think that's what he was saying.

Per Chris Russell on ESPN980, Kory Litchensteiger is unlikely to play this weekend unless he makes a miraculous recovery. Josh LeRibeus would get the start. Coaches loved what they saw in LeRibeus last week in limited action.

As a Cowboys fan, if it was at all sarcastic or out of line...I'd be all over it. It was a nice thing to say/do, even if the words weren't maybe a 100% perfect. No need to nitpick the words, the sentiment was good and came across as classy to me.Enjoy him Skins fans.

Anyone know why Snyder won't allow the countys taxicabs on the lot? He has a stand for the limos and luxury sedans but all the regular folks have to hump it to the metro. Lots of us would love to avoid that mile walk after the game and also avoid that stuffy metro ride where you have to stand the whole way.

Taxis line up on Morgan BLVD on your way to Metro, just after the parking lots end. I don't know how quickly they are gone, though.

As a Packer fan, I'll be rooting for you guys. Can't stand the way the media has labeled Seattle a great team when they haven't won anything yet. And can't stand the Seattle fans who think they might as well engrave their name on the Lombardi Trophy already. I'd much rather cheer on a team with some history to it. Go Pack Go! and Go Redskins!
