Sammy then Pavel!!!!!!!!!!

Buffalo is not very good are they?
No. They should be in contention for a top 5 spot in the lottery. Tons of young guys in a rebuilding year.Stafford is a putz. Need him to get hot so he can be traded.

Hope he's ok

Good point from Jim Hughson, this division is loaded with fighters. Red Wings might need reinforcements.
Wings don't fight and Western Conference teams would often sit their thugs vs Detroit because it did no good.

I'm hoping the Eastern Conference teams try to thug it up, because Detroit will be going to a ton of power plays and winning this division in the end.
So it's pretty strange to watch a Wings game and actually want them to win :oldunsure:

Wings/Hawks Stanley Cup finals would be awesome.

And it's within the realm of possibility, personally it would be the best possible Cup final for me as a Hawks fan.

Red Wings power play looks a lot different this year, they aren't passing and holding. It's bing, bang, boom.

:bs: call on Cleary, that's a goal. Same as it ever was with the Wings.

So is Center Ice actually going to be carrying Flyers' feeds from CSN Philly this year? I thought they had closed the terrestrial loophole but the feeds were still absent last year (at least on DTV). I'm seeing multiple channels for Flyers games on the Center Ice schedule (except for the first couple games vs Canadian teams).
So hell really hasn't frozen over. Nothing but TSN SD for Flyers-Leafs on Directv Center Ice.
is this new? CSN always used to be on center ice and I thought it was on and in HD last year. tasty cakes.

Emmer ton ain't no Datsyuk
Only reason Emmerton is even on team is because of the salary cap situation. He's certainly having a good first game.

Not being able to promote Nyquist is the only thing I don't like right now, but they'll work that out soon enough and he should be up by December depending on injuries. Tootoo or Sammy could be released also but that doesn't save a lot of money because they have that 35-year-old clause thing. Tatar will get his shot also, as soon as one of these old coots gets hurt. Nice to have young guys waiting in the Wings (pun intended).

what's the deal with this? Was annoying trying to watch the game tonight in SD only.
That would annoy the hell out of me.

My impressions from 2 periods of this game are that Jonathan Bernier and Vincent Lecavalier are both going to be nice pickups for their new teams.

wings just need to hang on until they can get Bertuzzi, Sammy, Quincey off the books.

Sammy will miss 30+ games with injury, Bertuzzi 20+. Quincey I am fine with for now, he seems to have shed some of the things that plagued him two years ago. When Mike Babcock is your coach, that happens.

I'm just about ready for no fighting in hockey, and I'm long past thinking Orr/Rosehill/Scott/Parros and the like bring any value to the game.

Having skill like Hartnell, Prust, Downie, Clarkson and Lucic makes games fun to watch. The Bolls and Colton Orrs of the league do not.

Good first period for the Patrick Roy led Avalanche.....except the defense is on the verge of collapse every time they try to touch the puck.

They have 3 really good lines up front though - all they will need is for Varlomov to stand on his head and he's done that in the first 20 - a couple of really good saves.

Buffalo might be young and stupid but they play hard and Miller is still a great goalie. Ehrhoff is horrific though, he's always out of position.

Wings made a lot of mental mistakes tonight, lots of penalties and basically an own goal by Howard (God they do this a lot).

Exactly. Well said.

MacKinnon uses his speed to the boards and he takes a quick peek and drops a nice pass to McGuinn for his first NHL point. Avs looking good on opening night on offense.

D is still really scary

Probably depends on carrier. Comcast and Directv are oil and water. DTV doesn't carry CSN Philly so I think Comcast blocks the feeds to Directv Center Ice.

huh. maybe I'm thinking of when I had Comcast but I thought I remembered watching CSN feeds just last season on Directv Center Ice.

Roy going crazy at the end - pissed off about something
Lovejoy knee on MacKinnon or Bruce looked at him wrong
Looked like he was yelling "#### you, #### you" to Corey Perry. Ducks are a bunch of whiny tools but come on, that's really unnecessary. He should be suspended for that if not by the league, by the Avalanche.
Your dreaming - that's why they hired him - passion.

Sacco would have crawled up into a ball

I guess there is a fine line between bat#### crazy and passionate in your book. That is embarrassing.

What a nut job Roy is. I love it. Hope he flies off the handle on a weekly basis. Maybe the young guys will enjoy playing for a legend who's not afraid to show some passion.

Practically knocking down the barrier between the team benches is not passion IMO. He went bat#### crazy.

I know this is the regular season thread but I had a chance to go to one of the last preseason games this past Sat for the Panthers vs Lightning. I'm sure our hockey team down here is not good but I had a blast. I've been to the Lightning games back in the 90s, hadn't been to a live game in a long time. We sat Center Ice but top deck. Definitely want to go back and see some of the better NHL teams come into town.

Tickets can be had pretty cheap down here, if any of you make your way to S.FL in the winter, great way to see your team on the road and get a nice warm vacation.

Cheers

Not sure who was the home team but I know as recently as a couple of years ago TB had a deal where you got 4 tickets, 4 dogs, 4 beers and parking for $40 total. I also know that TB is a great place to watch a game.

Holtby back in the nets tonight for the home opener vs the Flames.

Also sounds like the same lineup that was in Chicago will go again tonight.

I fully expect a better effort 5 on 5 tonight and from Holtby so 2 points should happen.

what's up with Erat?

that trade looking like a disaster, although I guess we haven't seen anything from Forsberg yet.

That is a very good question.

He got limited minutes in Chicago and I really have no answer why.I want to see Oates give him a chance on the top line with Backstrom and Ovie since I feel his game is better suited to fit than MJ90's game is.

I think Latta will be a nice player for them down in the bottom 6 so the trade may not end up being a total bust but so far I do agree it is looking terrible with how things have went so far.

Pens sign Deslauriers, maybe they ride MAF and Zatkoff/Deslauriers in hopes that Vokoun can get back sooner rather than later...

How far off are Neal and Letang from returning?
Neal is day to day, Letang is on IR and I'm thinking weeks...lines at the morning skate

Kunitz-Crosby-Dupuis

Vitale-Malkin-Jokinen

Bennett-Sutter-Kobasew

Glass-Jeffrey-Adams

Orpik-Martin

Scuderi-Niskanen

Maatta-Bortuzzo-Engelland

Jokinen is taking Neal's spot on the top power play.

1st unit: Malkin, Martin on points. Kunitz, Crosby and Jokinen down low.

2nd unit: Niskanen, Maatta on points. Dupuis, Bennett, Sutter down low
