****Official 2014 Chicago Bears Thread **** (2 Viewers)

Seeing Peanut on the sideline with tears rolling down his cheeks made a little part of me die inside. I hope he can come back and finish the season.

Huge loss for the team both on the field and in leadership. Such a great professional, I would think it would have been good to have him around for Kyle's development. If that was his last game with the Bears it is good to say it was a hell of a game, and he was one of the reasons we were able to pull out the win.

Think they bring him back again next year or not? I think let him go, has to happen sometime, and a repeat injury so quickly after the last has to be a little telling.

That will probably do it for Peanut. No better guy in the league. Wish he could have played out the season.

i dont think he will want to come back... but highly unlikely the bears offer him $3.25M again considering he's missed the last 2 years with the same injury

Unreal win. Had only thought for half a second that they might have a chance with all the hype and especially when the NFL network folks were giving them zero chance. Then the first half hit and it was like a bad dream again. I all but jumped out the window when they showed Virginia sitting in a luxury box but I have to hand it to em for going in and giving the 49'ers a punch. Granted the 49'ers were sloppy in the amount of penalties and Cutler keying in on Marshall is not going to bring them a division title but a win here is special as it is a conference win and will help when December rolls around and the Bears and 49'ers are locked in playoff differentials.

The Tillman injury is just sad. Week 2 was just unforgiving on a lot of players but Peanut is one of the reasons why Bear fans put up with so many years of the inept nature of upper management. Cheers to a great player and a better person who in my opinion, will continue to be a mainstay in professional football.

It is encouraging to see the OL play so well. Where this unit was once a sad liability they are now deep and well coached. Should have had this many many years ago. If they can pump up the DL with this kind of depth and note the requirement to monitor and adjust these lines at every draft when needed - they might just be OK. But then again this is the NFL.

Kromer is a hell of a coach too
You're such a fair weather fan.(Things aren't going well) "They're terrible"

(Things are going well) "I love this team"
I'm a lot of things but not a" fair weather fan. " Can't imagine anyone using that term for a Bears fan. Good or bad, I'm a Bears fan. I have no problem calling them out when they're terrible and no problem praising them when they're good, which isn't often enough. I've been wrong plenty of times over the years, probably Alshon being the most glaring one recently. I hope I'm wrong on Tucker and this defense. They showed some guts last night in an almost impossible situation. The offense definitely isn't the issue and is good enough to make a deep run. Everyone and their mother can see the ST is a complete disaster. So I pretty much share the same thoughts as your average Bears fan.

Love seeing Hester do well. Good for him. It's too bad our dumb as hell ST guy couldn't do anything with him. Now trying different turds every week with zero success.

So, before that happened I was stopping in here to post that this is an interesting game for a Bears fan.

I want to see McCown do well, though I have to admit, I want to go up to every ####### last year who thought he was the next coming of Kurt Warner and tell them to shove it. So far it just looks like another Lovie Smith offensive team. Hope they can pick it up when they actually get their OC back, as I said, overall I'd like to see McCown succeed there.

On the other side, I'm still excited every time I see Hester get a kick his way, just hope he doesn't kill us. Unlike flap though, I'm not going to blame the bears for not keeping him, we just couldn't afford to with all the work we had to do across the team, Falcons had space for a luxury that we didn't. Does make me wonder how much the Bears F-d up the Hester experiment. We #####ed and #####ed about it, but he hits a new team, and bam, he looks pretty good out there on offense. Never going to be a #1WR, but a pretty effective offensive weapon.

And Emery thought we would be fine without him. Scary that the GM can be so wrong about such a huge part of the team. No plan in place to replace him either

You're killing me flap. It was pretty much a financial decision to let Hester walk and apparently it turns out that Devin didn't want to be in Chicago anyway. The Bears have brought in and worked out tons of returners, or does that not count as having a plan? IMO the return game woes are less about the guy who's catching the ball and more about the coaching and blocking.

You're right about the blocking and coaching but I think it's obvious that should've found a way to keep him. I'm sure they feel the same way but would never admit it. Bringing in the turds they have brought in isn't much of a plan IMO. there have been more mistakes made than just letting Hester go, but he has said he wasn't happy with his role so I'm not sure it would've worked anyway.

This is why you tend to catch flack. You seem to waffle back and forth from "they're awesome" to "they suck". I realize that in the NFL fans' emotions can swing each season, game, or play, but people who don't temper their swings and go from extreme to extreme are hard to take serious.

I don't think we could move up one spot with trading Hester. He's on the downside if his career as a kick returner and he sucks at wr. We would be lucky to get a late round pick.
Interesting comments from Hester saying he doesn't want to play offense. Trestman also saying he's not sure Hester will even practice with the offense.
It just feels like Hester has almost given up returning kicks. He's not even trying.
Then you keep saying Emery should have found a way to pay millions of dollars to keep Hester as a returner only, but the Bears simply didn't have the luxury of cap space. I think the Bears have about 5 million in cap space left, only a dozen teams have less space. And to put it in perspective Hester is making 3 million per year, exactly the same amount as Willie Young. Needs and dollars have to be evaluated and weighed, unfortunately for us Bear fans there were too many holes to fill to be able to bring back Devin at what he would have accepted.

You're right with a lot of this but I guess I expect the GM to be better at evaluating than I am. I'm just calling it like I see it. I'm been wrong plenty of times and I've admitted it many times but I'm not the GM and this is a mesaageboard. I could just as easily go back and dig up plenty of times when you and many others have waffled just as much. That doesn't mean I can't have an opinion and it can't change.

You are correct, everyone's opinions can be wrong and it's a good thing when we are flexible enough to change them. I know I'm wrong a lot. Sometimes reading your posts makes me wonder if you ever get enjoyment out of watching the Bears. It's taken me awhile but I've found out that the Bears are going to play the same whether I'm optimistic or pessimistic about the team. It's more fun to be optimistic.

What would it take for you to NOT be disappointed? A Superbowl win? If thats the case, then you'd be disappointed being a fan of almost any team. If there was true parity in the NFL and everyone alternated winning the championship, then you'd only be happy once every 32 years.

You're making into something it's not now. I've never said anything like that. Compete with the Packers on a consistent basis win some division titles. Make the playoffs more than 25% of the time. I don't really see how that's asking too much, definitely not to the extreme you're insinuating.

I get as excited as anyone you could ever meet when the Bears are successful. RBM and few of us were on here back in 2006-07 when they made the big run. We all celebrated on here. I even got to go to the NFC championship game against the Saints that year. That was so awesome. Sadly, they have been beaten up on by the Packers since then and even before then. It's disheartening when it happens year after year.

Yup - meat head gets exposed. Typical babble

Shea out. Probably for the best. He has shown he's not an NFL player.
Actually, he was starting to learn the new position and was improving every week. This sounds eerily like your comments on Hester that Statcruncher pointed out earlier.

He played well last week. Seemed to be around the ball and in in everything all game. First time since we've drafted him that I was actually excited to see his next game. Lol

Funny. I haven't seen the cheeseheads at all since the Lions dismantled them yesterday. The Packer thread is buried way down on the thread list.

Tried to tell them they were delusional in their aspirations this year.

This is on Jay tonight. Jets have the nastiest d line in the league imo, so I'm not expecting much of a rushing attack.

Not this year. I said before Week 1 that the Bears will win it all this season. It's looking more and more like that every day. The NFC North is incredibly weak. The Packers have taken a step back and probably won't make the playoffs this year. The Lions have talent but lack focus. Minnesota isn't quite where they need to be just yet. The North is prime for the taking and the Bears are a lock to win the division. I think they'll upset Seattle in the playoffs on their way to the Super Bowl. I realty can't see any team stopping them.

I was looking forward too seeing him this week as well but he's not there. Just another ding against him. I hope he can come back and do it but he's got to be out there to improve.
