You'd have to really believe Big Ben is turning a major corner with those two big games for this to be even close to even in a 10 teamer that starts only 1 QB. I don't think he's suddenly turned into Drew Brees, so I'd take the pick by a mile here.

Lottery picks are decided by the 6 teams out of 12 that don't make the playoffs. They are all equally put into a blind pool and picked from a hat/bag to determine next year's picks 1.01 through 1.06.

I think I kinda like that better than what the FFPC does, which is a losers bracket. Mainly because most of the time teams dont own their own picks, and dont even care about bothering to set their best lineups or care at all if they win or lose those games. Whenever I own someones future 1st in that situation I have to bribe them by saying I will buy them a 12 pack of their favorite beer if they get me the #1 pick.
I think I like just a random assignment of picks, only thing maybe I change is that you guarantee the worst team no worse than the 4th pick, but I could even do without that.

We do something similar however it is weighted differently for the bottom six with the worst team having the best shot. This will sound silly but each team has a certain number of marbles (with the 6th place team having the most, the 12th place team having the least). The commissioner throws them into some incased ball that is turned by a handle. He turns it a few times and draws a marble out. Whatever team that is gets assigned the 6th overall pick and so forth. He does it live on skype so everyone can log in. It sounds goofy but has worked pretty well over the years. League has stayed intact for 19 years.

Team A is a contender that is absolutely loaded at WR (Thomas, Gordon, Benjamin, Cooks, etc) but doesn't have good RB prospects. Team B is in the playoff hunt, and Allen will compete for a flex spot (and has obvious long term, bounce back potential).

I love it for me. I have Team B's 1st in 2015. It already looked to be good and now, without Forte and Nelson, itcould be even better.

There's no guarantee that he's playing again this year, and the fact that he skipped the meeting with the NFL yesterday makes his availability this year even more uncertain. Who knows where he plays next year, so I don't think it's worth it even for a contender.

I agree, but 2015 is another strong draft class and it isn't like Montcrief is helping this year. If you had your 2015 rookie draft right now I doubt Montcrief cracks the top 10.
Team/league specifics aside, this seems about right for Moncrief. Certainly possible that it is a slight overpay currently, but if he is starting next year if Wayne retires and/or Nicks isn't resigned - then you would be able to recoup this investment easily.

Ok but why give up so much? Couldn't you have gotten a rivers or Big Ben for much less. That's steep in dynasty.

No chance of Rivers or Big Ben because their owners wanted too much for them. All playoff teams have a top QB and I needed one to compete. Spiller to me is the only wild card but dont see him doing much more than RBBC next year. I wanted a shot this year and willing to take the chance. I won this week which has clinched a playoff spot for me.jeaton6 said:

Martin and Spiller will most likely be on new teams next year which could help them a lot. With the Bradshaw injury, TRich gets another chance to be the guy again. I know it's unlikely he runs away with the job, but there's still a chance.
I agree that it's unlikely any of those guys ever become more than RB2's or most likely flex guys on championship teams, but I feel like you could receive a lot more in return if you traded away each of those guys individually.
I know it's not the most likely thing to happen but Peyton could retire after this year. Imagine if you traded all that away for 4-5 weeks of Peyton Manning.

that's a lot of speculation, most of which is unlikely. Of Spiller, Martin and Rich, chances are pretty good that none of these guys are ever difference makers and continue to disappoint. It's more likely that Peyton is a difference maker for an otherwise strong team for the next 56 weeks, maybe longer.
It's also quite possible that the new waiver pickups do better than these guys, not to mention making room for the off season.
Imagine if you traded a bunch of RB3 types for a championship.
