** Official 2014 Philadelphia Eagles Thread ** (6 Viewers)

@ZBerm: Eagles added Nolan Carroll and Jaylen Watkins to boost outside CB depth. Problem is, both are hurt. That's why you're seeing so much Marsh

It was rough early but the first team offense looked decent tonight once they found a rhythm. Foles much more confident and McCoy getting some work. Hopefully people calm down a bit now.

Henery and the defense will get this week's wrath.

####### Henery
We needed SOME competition for that dude
Or not having that dude at all. He stinks.
In addition to it sucking for our favorite team, it sucks for fantasy. Having the Eagles' kicker, with this offense, should be :moneybag:
So true, and so sad.

Sanchize!!! I can't wait to call in WIP and talk QB controversy!

No seriously, in this town that could happen if they somehow lose to Jax week 1. Sanchez looking good tho. Nice rapport with Matthews.

Outside of the huge names like Revis, Sanchez just might be the best FA pickup in the league this offseason.
Makes perfect sense too. Former top 10 pick looking to revitalize his career comes to the offensive guru. In exchange we get a veteran backup that has won big games in this league.

The flags have been ridiculous in this quarter. This is almost unwatchable.
Aside from the obvious deficiencies, it's kind of hard to assess the defense with all of the ticky-tack penalties that probably won't be called in season.
Have we been given any reason to believe that these penalties won't be called during the season?
Other than check-writing networks potentially complaining about flag-filled four hour games? No

Point taken.

Eskin speculating that Huff has a serious shoulder injury. Nothing concrete just going on what he seen and didn't hear after the game. Grain of salt, but worrisome nonetheless.

I know it's the preseason, but come on. Four straight runs for Damaris Johnson inside the 1?
Must be a 610 listener
Lol yea. Just heard a guy talk about how Sanchez should be starting because he looks poised while Foles looks scared. He admitted he didn't watch Friday after that.
I didnt have a car with Sirius for a couple of days and turned on one of the Philly sports talk stations and by the end of the day my sports IQ had dropped 76 points.

It's entertainment. The hosts drive the direction of the callers.

Thoughts from Preseason Game #2:

  • Curtis Marsh, good lord. Going into his 4th season and is still completely incapable of turning and finding the ball in the air. Watching him was like going through the stages of grief. Denial, anger, acceptance. Felt sorry for him by the end. Just not roster worthy.
  • Was impressed with Henry Josey. Not just because because he got some yards, but how he looked doing it. He's got a burst, shifty feet, looks natural as a receiver. Was OK in pass pro. Seems to be physical enough and falls forward even though he's a smaller guy. He looked better than Tucker has at any stage for me, he's always seemed a bit straight line. At least I think he's closed the gap there for sure.
  • Free Vinny. I'll wait until Week 1 before I really panic on the pass rush, but if they can't generate something out of the base package, Curry has to get rotated in there.
  • I don't think Damaris Johnson will make the team but he was so close to having a really good game. Did lots of little things pretty well, even looked surprising good as a runner until that set of 4 plays from the 1 where the line got no push. But that drop was really bad, perfect throw from Barkley, a nice catchable ball dropped right on the spot and he pops it up for a pick. Ugh. I think he'll be on another roster opening day though.
  • Was good to see Marcus Smith get a lot of snaps. He flashes but he's still very up and down in execution. Had a number of plays where he shows a legit NFL burst off the snap but just gets shoved wide by the OT. Technique and strength need work there. Had another short yardage play where he set the edge then shed the block, did everything perfectly right up until he missed the tackle and the Pats converted a 3rd and 1.
  • Goode and Acho both had blown coverages on the FB on the series where he scored.
  • Kendricks looked good again, nice to see him getting into the backfield.
  • Sanchez has looked very sharp so far but that pick was a really bad one. Looked like he just didn't see that S sitting over that route at all.
  • Foles bounced back with a nice game
  • So did Jordan Matthews. No flashy wow plays, just solid execution every time he had an opportunity.
  • Allen Babre is now officially a concern. Will be looking closely in what should be extended playing time against the Steelers. He's been badly beaten by a simple outside rush in both games so far. Dennis Kelly is more inconsistent as a run blocker, I think his height hurts him, he gets popped upright at times and doesn't get much push but I think he's possibly more sound and more mobile in pass pro than Babre. Hard to be sure since his reps have been at G, but he did OK starting at RT for a few games in 2012 and he seems to use his hands better than he did back then.
  • Beau Allen flashed again. Gets push consistently but struggles to lock his arms out and disengage. Flushed the QB out of the pocket on one play. As a side point I think working against Allen will help Kelce, since that is the kind of player he has most struggled to handle, a strong bull rushing NT.
  • Travis Long might take Brandon Graham's roster spot.
